Mog*Mod Thread: #11

What about http://www.rapidshare.com/? It worked for Marbred's M*MCP 2009. ;)
There is also http://www.mediafire.com/.

Alright. Patch coming up to mediafire (i've used mediafire in the past. quite reliable. more than I can say for rapidsh*t)

http://www.mediafire.com/file/i2jdm4q2x2z/MCP_Addon_IAMELIPHAS.rar

And maybe I should be getting ahold of the creators of H.E.L.L.U.V.A for this, but....

Next project i'm working on is a MASSIVE moggifying overhaul for the H.E.L.L.U.V.A helmets. If someone can get ahold of the guy(s) that did the Mog Indoril Helmet and the Gloves I'd be most appreciative.

3 things:

1) There is no readme in the archive. That means that I had to open the mod in EE to figure out what you changed/added. :(
2) There is no icons folder either
3) more importantly, I can't get the mod to work! Morrowind crashes before reaching the menu screen.
Unchecking all my mods but Ian's ESPs didn't help.

Also, using 7zip to package the files would reduce the size of the mod by half and make life easier for us slow connection guys.

Its actually meant as an update, not as a full replacement version. Anything that was in the previous version of the patch is NOT included in that file.

Heres the basic changes.

- Kage mogs now integrated
- All the enchanted breakers are removed. Due to the below feature. (I figure since the mogs are so new they wouldn't have time to create enchanted versions of their breakers so why would there be 1000 enchanted breakers in circulation anyway?)
- Breakers will change into 1 handed, faster versions when equipped by mogs.
- mog flight is now separated into two abilities: Mog Wings (keeps you from dying when you fall) and Mog Flight (on cast, 0 magicka spell and increases your slowfall/jump).
- Mog versions of vanilla/BM/TR armors are no longer sold in stores. Instead you are given an item called the "Moogle Magic Morpher" which you drop on the ground and pick up again. When you do it changes any Vanilla items into Mog-Compatable equivilents if they exist. The mog Specific items (Kuporian Items, Mog Googles, etc) are still sold however.

.... whoops, I guess I accidentally altered it while making the "HELLUVA" patch, so by accident it has HELLUVA reliance. Not sure how that happened since it doesn't require anything from helluva.

See? That's typically the kind of info that should be included in a readme. ;)

I got rid of the H.E.L.L.U.V.A.H. dependency and the plug-in worked.

Put aside the previously mentioned issue with the one-handed breakers, my first impression is good. Also, as a role-player, I prefer Sage of Lightning's idea (smith NPCs) over the artificial, immersion-breaking device of the Mog Morpher.

This said, here are my random observations/comments and suggestions jumbled together:

- The Mog Morpher uses the icon of adamantium boots and the ground model of the ash statues?
Suggestion: change this and use unique model and icon such as the ones from the unused(?) Wing of Wyvern or some resource from a third party FF Mod.
And maybe give it an actual weight?
- In the character creation menu, female hairs are available to male characters and vice versa.
- The Kage Note is available even when playing a regular Mog. Is this intended?
- The ESP is dirty. Lots of empty cells.
- The "Moogle Jump" spell is definitely a good idea. I like it.
- ? but you've been pretty heavy-handed with the default jump height. It's now very frustrating for a player used to Ian's settings.
- I miss the enchantments on the breakers?

And 2 questions:

- What is this Mog Light thing beside the Kage Note?
- What happened to "Fast Talk" (the Mog's racial power)?

See? That’s typically the kind of info that should be included in a readme. ;)

I got rid of the H.E.L.L.U.V.A.H. dependency and the plug-in worked.

Put aside the previously mentioned issue with the one-handed breakers, my first impression is good. Next version will have an option to make them two handed, but still have the upped speed. Also, as a role-player, I prefer Sage of Lightning’s idea (smith NPCs) over the artificial, immersion-breaking device of the Mog Morpher. Either way its still much better than having to console the items. Besides, if the mog heads weren't big and bloated, and could fit normal headgear without problem and didn't require oversized "Mog" versions of everything, we wouldn't need either the smith nor the mog mopher in the first place. Essentially the only reason we even have mog versions of these items is because the game messes them up, which in of itself is immersion breaking.

This said, here are my random observations/comments and suggestions jumbled together:

- The Mog Morpher uses the icon of adamantium boots and the ground model of the ash statues… I work with the CS and NOTHING else. I don't texture, I don't model, so I couldn't make one, so I used what I had available.
Suggestion: change this and use unique model and icon such as the ones from the unused(?) Wing of Wyvern or some resource from a third party FF Mod. That's not unused actually. though maybe thats because i'm running moogle temple....
And maybe give it an actual weight?Erm, why? The only reason I even do it that method is because I don't want it to be auto-switching (Compatibility with partners), Or use scripts attached to the items themselves (Too much work/H.E.L.L.U.V.A compatibility) so instead its a weightless item
- In the character creation menu, female hairs are available to male characters and vice versa. I fail to see a problem with this. The more options that are available, the better. Sides, long hair on guys is not that uncommon. It's better to have it and have a few people not want it, then it is to not have it and more people want it.
- The Kage Note is available even when playing a regular Mog. Is this intended? Yes, the variable that makes it appear is PCRACE, which is set to the same number regardless of whether your a white or black moogle.
- The ESP is dirty. Lots of empty cells.
- The "Moogle Jump" spell is definitely a good idea. I like it.
- … but you’ve been pretty heavy-handed with the default jump height. It's now very frustrating for a player used to Ian’s settings. Funny, I don't seem to think so. Then again, I've made a few changes since that version to the jump spell. And then again I'm used to carrying as little weight on me as humanly possible for just that reason. And actually its pretty much the same settings except for a lower slowfall.
- I miss the enchantments on the breakers… Convenience. Also: Mogs are a new race to the elder scrolls universe, I find it almost unfathomable that they would have the time to put thousands upon thousands of breakers with different enchantments on it in circulation, especially considering that they're the only race that actually uses breakers. Also I must point out that H.E.L.L.U.V.A doesn't have weapon enchantments. Well, some do, but not the same 20-30 enchantments for every weapon. Besides, you want enchantments? Trap a saint and enchant it yourself. not that hard.

And 2 questions:

- What is this Mog Light thing beside the Kage Note? Beats me. It was in the Kage Mog mod which was merged.
- What happened to "Fast Talk" (the Mog’s racial power)? Again, beats me. I didn't touch it.

I always just thought of the breakers (and any other mog tech) as an Import to Morrowind.
So, no, they wouldn't have had the time to make and release the hundred different breakers after they came to Morrowind.... but they certainly could have brought them over with them.

Hi, wheatthin

*Still need link for Wingless Mog

Wingless Mog is not a standalone mod. It's actually part of http://modhistory.fliggerty.com/index.php?dlid=7353.

If anything, it sounds like it'd screw up camera positioning. Or possibly make the body deformed hugely, since I don't know how tiny / huge bodyparts'll make the skeleton look.

Besides, doing tentative scaling experiments, it looks like the head shapes are just too different for that to work.

Or rather, you can, but you have to reposition the moogle head somewhere and I don't know what effect that'll have on the model. Probably nothing good. You'd probably have to screw around with bones, or something.

Actually going back to that idea... Wouldn't screwing around with the bones/models/camera be a lot better than having to make mog-specific parts for every single helmet in existence? Even if we discount closed helmets?

Unless someone made an rescale program for helmet models, or at the very least, a (>80% reliable) scaling formula?

Then again, you'd still have gauntlets/boots (and bracers/shins) to worry about. Granted, those work for moogles, unlike helmets, but they just look... wrong.

I don't think you'd be able to get anything that was consistent in every area, really. From what I remember the meshes aren't even close to the bones in some cases, and I think if you messs with one everything else is going to go out of whack, short of rebuilding the thing from the ground up. And I think you'd lose some of the charm if you're not talking to people at groin-height.

Admittedly, replacing every helmet is a lot less daunting than replacing every piece of arm and leg armour, which probably would take less to sort out, but you'd still have to scale and force a transformation rather than a plain scale.

Also maybe I should actually get back to making spears, or rather spears that actually show up in the damn game. Mostly because I got frustrated with rigging, because I'm missing something somewhere and I'll be damned if I know what.

Now I have a bit of a strange request.

Could someone hunt down all the Mog-Mod related artwork for me? I'd like to start a collection of it.

Not counting the stuff on rule34/phael. I looked there already

okay heres whats I managed to find so far.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/Decorated%20images/386079420_f35e8e34ec_o.jpg: My personal favorite. I managed to find this on a gaming forum "Colony of Gamers" through Google image search (words: Moogle Morrowind). I must say I fell in love with this one at first sight.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/Decorated%20images/Desktop_renarmor1024.jpg: Very similar to the current rendered mogmod splashpage. This one came from the D&D wiki, Home brew races section. Judging to the similarity to the above one, I can only assume they had the same author.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/Decorated%20images/H550-1088261961.jpg , Another picture that was found in the same place as the Ren /w Wraithguard one. Anatomically incorrect though seeing as it has neither wings nor a bobble.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/Decorated%20images/ren_holiday_12.jpg: This one I got from Blingcheese. It had it listed as "Moogle Of Horror" though other than the expression and lack of eyes I fail to see any "Horror" in it. Except... perhaps... that it's also the poster image for... *shudder* the oblivion port of Mog Mod.

Theres also the Rule34 stuff, but due to the rules here I'm not allowed to host or post that. You'll have to find that yourselves, pervs. :hubbahubba:

There are a few others which I have seen in the past which I can't seem to find, or cant get ahold of.

- Theres a picture of Ren wearing daedric armor & wraithguard and holding a breaker. I seen it in the MOOGLE TEMPLE mod. Though I don't have Morrowind installed so I can't extract it and host it.

- Theres another one with Ren in the same outfit as the "Moogle Of Horror" sitting on a rock next to a character from Penny Arcade. I seen it once but I have no idea where to find it now.

- I do not know which panels of Ian's comic has ren or moogles in it. I know of one depicting her as a sith, and one about bloodmoon, but thats about it.

I like http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/Decorated%20images/ren_holiday_12.jpg. I never saw it before.

Hopefully you will find a working link to the complete Ren comics by Ian McConville. I’ve been looking for it, with no success. There were some pages available on the net at the time I started using the Mog*Mod, but I can’t seem to find them anymore. I hope they are not definitely down.

Did you browse http://web.archive.org/web/20061209230207rn_1/machall.com/mog/? The two wallpapers whose links you posted above were hosted there in 800, 1024 & 1280 res. As you assumed they are by the same author: Ian McConville.

His site also has some interesting WIP pics (i.e. http://web.archive.org/web/20040522111414/machall.com/mog/images/20030726_renskin.jpg). There is even http://web.archive.org/web/20040522111416/machall.com/mog/images/20030726_armorflat.jpg.

But maybe does your search focus only on fanart and wallpaper art?

Edit:
I do not know which panels of Ian's comic has ren or moogles in it. I know of one depicting her as a sith, and one about bloodmoon, but thats about it.

I'm interested. Do you still have the links?

Yeah, Ian's Adventures in Morrowind is long dead, but Mister Pants lives on. More or less.

Although there is a rough version http://web.archive.org/web/20061205184153rn_2/machall.com/morrowind/ if you knew the URL. Okay, some of the images are missing (like the background ones) but there ya go.

Only drawn stuff. Not 3d-rendered or screenshots.

More stuffs for yas.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/Decorated%20images/238419-MogRenmoogle.jpg Came from Paheal, but I suppose I can get away with posting it here, since its not pormographic, as it shows no naughty bits or actions, its merely a suggestive pose. No wings though :(

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/Decorated%20images/1139335943azrialmarburiussavren2.jpg Now we're digging into the realm of Obscure Fanart. I broadened my search to Furaffinity, and I was not disappointed.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/Decorated%20images/1166478128northernfox_dez_by_northe.jpg Nothing really to say here. Mog Strife.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/Decorated%20images/1209766313gunzcon_cho_comoomba_mog.jpg Truthfully i'm not even sure this qualifies. Clearly a mix between tactics mogs and machall ones. But whatever, its based on Machall mogs, so it works i guess. One on the right is the mog if you can't tell.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/Decorated%20images/1225982548seraphon_jmc.jpg Not much to say here. Can't say I really like this one, and personally I think the argonian looks better than the mog, but whatever. Just my opinion.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/Decorated%20images/1227364184suule_darkmooglesummoner.png A bit weird. Unlike the one before the last one, it's clearly a machall moogle. Except for the head, which looks more Suthay-raht Khajiit than moogle, but it still checks out.

I think that would be the Moogle Temple one. Or at least some variation of it.

I recall one other one. One which had both a character from Penny Arcade (I'm not really into that comic, so I don't know his name.) And Ren in I think the same outfit as the snowing one in it. Though I can't find it.
