Mog*Mod Thread: #11

Post » Wed Apr 06, 2011 5:43 am

Is it possible to re-size the mogs feet to maybe the size of a humans and take off the wings?

There is a humanoid version of the mogs out there. I'm pretty sure it was in the last thread. It had normal feet, I believe.

Not sure if the info is still needed, but here it is anyway: http://fliggerty.dnsdojo.com/MMH/rwdownload/index.php?dlid=5721, available on Morrowind Modding History, comes with optional plugin and meshes for wingless Mogs. The optional plugin is not specifical to the Forest Mog race and can be used with the regular Mogs. From the Forest MOG Full Texture Replacer readme:
Check the .esp file to convert all moogles into wingless moogles, this isn't really necessary, but tends speeds the game up at bit. It's all a matter of preference, personally I usually play mogs without wings.
mog_f_neck.dds and mog_m_neck.dds files should end up loose in your data files directory. These two files are not necessary for using the green re-colored mogs but if you decide to use Ian's original colors but still wish to play without wings, then move these two files into the Data Files\Textures directory and check the .esp file _Mog_wingless_(optional).esp in the MW launcher

Maybe this is what Marbred was referring to?
Not sure how it will play with Westly's BB Mogs though. The screenies from Ger of which link I posted above made me realize what a dramatic improvement those BB meshes are.
By the way, Morrowind Modding History hosts several vintage mog mods, including previous versions of Ian's Mog race and Marbred's MCA Addon. Most of it is obviously outdated, but some (as Forest MOG Full Texture Replacer) may still be relevant. Maybe they should be mentioned in the first post? What do you think?
Here are the ones I tracked down so far:

Working on updating, but Morrowind Modding History is being slow not working right now so I had to stop for now.

Anyone know the difference between Mog Hair and Mog Hair 1.2?

Mog Hair says it is v1 so is Mog Hair1.2 an updated version?

Mog Hair 1.2 is missing a readme so I do not know.

And does anyone know why I get this error "Authorization mismatch - please go back and try again. If you have been trying to access a function incorrectly, please use the proper method." when I try to repost after edits 3/4 of the time?

Every now and then I have the same issue with Morrowind Modding History; but until now I thought it was just my slow african connection playing tricks on me...

As for Mog Hair and Mog Hair v1.2, I'm not sure but I believe there is a line in the readme from Qawsed's Mog Hair & Fixes mod (which uses this resource) that stated that the original Mog hair had no esp. So I assumed that the one lacking both readme and esp is the oldest...

Edit: Oops. My bad memory again?
Actually it was not in Qawsed's readme but on http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=5948:

The original mod is found at elricm.com but requires you to manually place the meshes and the textures in CS.

I think (and this is just a guess) that Fliggerty and Co. is still working on MMH, so it's still a little unstable. I believe I saw Yacoby (or maybe someone else) mention something about MMH "moving around". That might be why you get that error.

Still missing Moogle Mannequins and Mog*Mod Community Patch.

Can anyone fill me in on what Mog textures does.

SneakyNinjaOtter is Ren's Armory and Arms completely dead? Any resources that you can release to the community if it is dead?

Anyone know how to track down Ger or Darkwolf82?

Possibly get any of their left over resources.

Outside of PM'ing those two, I'd have no idea.

(...) Can anyone fill me in on what Mog textures does.

It's some black retexture for Ian's mog (different from the Kage Mogs textures). Author is unknown but there is a (short) readme:

First off thank you for downloading these replacement textures. Just place these into your texture folder and click yes to all to replace the original textures.
NOTE: You must first have Ian's mog mod to use these textures.
Since this is only a small retexture I do not feel that my name needs to appear if these textures are edited by someone else. Credit is given however to Ian for his wonderful mog race.

Here are some in-game pics:

Has anyone tried More Breaker Swords?
I remember a problem that created a mob of mini-mog sword sellers. After a while there would be a whole slew of these guys in each city. I'll be working on an update if this problem is still there.

I have it in my game. The only oddity I noticed so far is that, sometimes, they have nothing to barter.
So far I only met 4 of them: in Caldera, Ebonheart, Ald'ruhn and in front of the imperial fort near Balmora.

Issue #2
(...)
When equipping an item in inventory mod, the screen sometimes http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/2896/mogglitch3.jpg. It mostly happens in http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/5402/mogglitch2.jpg (9 out of 10 times). Sometimes it just lasts a fraction of a second; sometimes I need to close the inventory to get back to normal. http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/4414/mogglitch1.jpg or twice I even had to reload the game to get rid of the glitch.

I've seen that glitch before, and it's not related to Mog*Mod or MGE. I've done that without using either, though I can't for the life of me reproduce it.
Actually, now that I think of it, the problem might have something to do with alpha channels. It only happened after I started using alpha enabled hair/clothing. Mog*Mod has alpha channels on the little bits of fur, so that might be where the glitch comes from.

The problem seems to be fixed!! :intergalactic:

While updating the Morrowind Code Patch from v1.4 to v1.5 I saw this in the FAQ section of the MCP readme (it was already in the previous versions; obviously I overlooked it?):
Q: My screen is tinted red / My mini-map looks strange / Transparent items look odd. What's going on?
A: Try turning off the "transparent clothes in the inventory" option. That fix does change the rendering methods the engine uses, and sometimes causes other graphics issues with certain graphics cards. It's hard to tell what the problem is, these bugs do not show up on my system, but I'm trying to diagnose the problem.

So I turned the the "transparent clothes in the inventory" option off. It was a few days ago and since then the glitch has not occurred.

(Ooops, triple post. Sorry.)

Another Mog mod just resurfaced, guys. :celebration:

Ladies and Gentlemen! attention please. (insert drum roll here)

(Stand up and read the following sentence aloud in a very solemn tone of voice:)
Courtesy of peachykeen, straight out of his/her offsite archive, behold the ancestor of all Mog mods: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?d5uinkmzuvm!!
(You can applaud now. Pat yourself on the back. You just witnessed a historical event.)

I didn't try it in-game but according to http://web.archive.org/web/20061209230207rn_1/machall.com/mog/ it should look like http://web.archive.org/web/20050914104455/http://machall.com/mog/images/faq_v1.jpg.

For the curious and the collectors out there. ;)

The Mod (probally) died because I went to jail. I don't know if I have anything left of it though and I don't think I will be putting the effort in right away to recreate it.

Good news indeed. :intergalactic: :celebration:
You should upload all of it somewhere as a resource.

I was not around when the WIP thread was online, but from the short description in the OP I can see it was a very promising project. I like the idea of Mog-sized furniture and especially the part about NPCs resizing vanilla gear for a fee.
If I understood right, you don't plan to resume working on this. Hopefully, having your work available again will inspire some other modders.
Out of curiosity, how far have you been into this project?

Oh and while at it, could you browse through your old HD and check if you happen to have some of the missing mog mods stashed somewhere? (You will be officially acknowledged as the new living god of the Mog followers should you manage to lay hands on the elusive Mog*Mod Community Patch.)

I remember there was a sword in that mod that had a white aura around it with feathers floating around.By far my favorite sword to ever be added to morrowind. It was very well done with a twin, some kind of darker aura around it like it's on fire. All that was needed was a sheath or sheathing script.

Those two swords are Ians. He included them in one of the older versions of MogMod. Probably the same version that has the pants helmets.

Even better news! I found the Moogle Community Patch, it and Ren's arms and armory are pend approval at Planet Elder Scrolls. Unfortunately my main Morrowind disc disappeared, so I currently don't have a way to keep working on Ren's.

I'm going to look at the Community Patch and see if I actually want to update it (I'm trying to play the game, so modding is not what I want to do right now)

Would anyone like to help out IF I decide to update it?
Or, if anyone is thinking of doing it themselves anyways, I'd be willing to help out if that person(s) want.
