Mog*Mod
Thread

SneakyNinjaOtter Original Message

"These threads are for the continuation of furthering the Morrowind Mog*Mod Modding Community and for posting and listing any new releases and/or ideas for anything Mog*Mod related. These threads have, in the past, and are still yet to be I'm sure, been instrumental in organizing and informing all those that care about any new ideas/plans/wips/rels/etc related to said Mog*Mod (for Morrowind).

These threads are also a saving grace to all the non-Mog*Mod fans that use these forums, as these threads also serve as a location for new users to come and ask questions, especially about the same few bugs that many many people seem to come across. Before these threads came about, the forums was consistently flooded with the same mog questions over and over and over. Much like all the inane "best mods" threads that are still plaguing the forum.

Thank you"

Simply adds the player race 'Moogle' to the list of selectable races to morrowind.
Compatible with both expansions but not required. However, the expansions
are highly recommended, otherwise the moogle characters end up looking really tall.
Known issues: - No Hair - Certain armors may look silly on a mog character -
Alpha channel issues with invisibility spell - Mog Werewolves jump really fricken high -
Player may appear cuter then recommended by health officials.

This Release is a simple little collection of ESPs that correct
a couple of minor bugs in Ian's release of the Mog Mod V4B which
are Female hand fix, height fix and jump fix.
Known issues: GMSTs - This mod will require cleaning before use.

----- Moogle Races -----

Wingless Mog
Rain_rTw
Need new link
**Note: Ignore Meshes and Textures folders. Check the .esp file to convert all moogles into wingless moogles, this isn't really necessary,
but tends speeds the game up at bit. It's all a matter of preference, personally I usually play mogs without wings.
mog_f_neck.dds and mog_m_neck.dds files should end up loose in your data files directory. These two files are not
necessary for using the green re-colored mogs but if you decide to use Ian's original colors but still wish to play without wings,
then move these two files into the Data Files\Textures directory and check the .esp file _Mog_wingless_(optional).esp.

This is a simple mod that adds a new Playable subrace of Moogle, based on Ian's Mog*Mod version 4b.

but uses the same meshes and its textures are derivatives of Ian's originals.

This is a simple texture replacer for version 4b of Ian McConville's Moogle race.

This mod basically add hair to Mog. Mod Race is required.
The original mod is found at elricm.com but requires you to manually place the meshes and the textures in CS.
Also, the added hairs is from Mog Supplies by Smite_Plight with a few color variety.
1.0 contain only LordJ's hair while 1.1 contain both LordJ and Smite Plight's hair. 1.1 do not need 1.0 to be playable.
I also upload a fix for the Mog race I made long ago. It just makes the female use the male's hand. Its it own file.

http://marbred.fliggerty.com/MCAmogAddon.html
Version 5.2 is technically a beta version. There are some bugs and unfinished things, but for the most part it is finished.
The main aspect of the mod is complete: you'll see random mogs wearing random things in random places.
The chance of seeing mogs may seem less than in older versions, but now they just have as equal a
chance of spawning as the rest of the races in MCA.

MCA Mog Addon (with Voices) v5

Adds three NPC races of mogs (over 570npcs) into the MCA leveled lists, over 140 Breaker Swords, over 40 pieces of
mog-specific armor, and beast versions of most boots from the game (called 'shins'). Adds voices to Ian's Moogles using MCA Mog Add-on V5.
There are over 100 voices total included. Covering greetings in all dispositions, idle voices, attack voices, flee voices, and hit voices.

This adds the Kage Mog sub-race to Morrowind Comes Alive and MCA Mog Addon.
They're treated as a rarer type of mog in the game, so you won't see that many of
them, and the one's you do see may not like you too much, or they'll just sneak
away into the shadows. They're not all bad, though, just most of them.

Mog*Mod Spike Hand Fix
Makairu

This mod for Morrowind enables the beast races to have unique shadows.
The game shipped with only one shadow that didn't particularly look like an Argonian or a Khajiit that was applied to both races,
but this mod changes all that. Now the shadows of Argonians, Khajiits, and even Mogs will all be unique.

Legging or Boots - Just about every set of boots has a script on them for "Boots or Leggings?".
When you pick them up(you must set them on the ground first), you will get the choice of boots or leggings.
It will only effect that pair of boots. All 3 of the museum boots have been taken into account and should no conflict with anything.

If you play a character of any beast race who wears armor then consider checking this out.

----- Bug Fixes -----

Red Screen Bug
Caused by having "transparent clothes in the inventory" option turned on in the Morrowind Code Patch.
Turn it off to fix.

The Spiked Hands Bug
If these pics look familiar:
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y139/trashguy/ScreenShot3.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y139/trashguy/ScreenShot2.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y139/trashguy/ScreenShot1-1.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y139/trashguy/ScreenShot0-1.jpg
... you've caught the bug.
There's three ways to fix this problem:
01 - Download and install the Mog Fixes listed above (which will also correct a couple other bugs) or
02 - Download and install the Mog*Mod Spike hand fix listed above or
03 - Do it yourself in the comfort of your own CS. Here's how...

1) Open the CS
2) Load the Mog Mod and set it as your active file
3) Go to the 'Body Parts' tab and click on the box that says 'Race' (There will be ID, Count, Type, and then Race) this sorts the entrys so all the parts from moogles are together
4) Scroll down till you find the 'Mog' race
5) Find the entry b_n_mog_f_hands.1st this is the first person view hands body part double click on it
6) Note the what it says in the button on the top right hand side(should be something like MOG_v4\f\mog_f_hands1st.nif)
7) Just above the entry for the first person hands is the entry for third person hands b_n_mog_f_hands
8. Click the button in the upper right hand corner (it will have a file name in it as well) change it to the filename you got from the first person hands.
9. Repeat 5-8 for the male entrys(b_n_mog_m_hands.1st, b_n_mog_m_hands)

Take your time and make sure you get the file names correct, this will solve 99.9% of every spiked hand problem out there.

(Thanks to Ger, Sagoflit3, and Trashguy for their help with info on the bug)

Thank you, wheatthin. :goodjob:

Shortly before the closure of the previous thread, Adelus posted this:

(...)
Also, is there a heightfix or something for the Kage/Forest mogs? I had to change scale to get up and down stairs, and I can somehow walk right through most tables, crates, etc.

I never played the Kage mod (and didn't even encounter this issue with the regular Mog), but I assume the solution from Ger's http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=835 should work. Adelus, you should try and reproduce it on the Kage esp.

If this fails, Ger's readme suggests this workaround:

Alternate Height fix: Posted by DrEaM4D on the Morrowind Forums:
---The mog keeps being stuck in objects or won't be able to go off stairs.
---Everyone can solve this by:
---Open the console (~) and type "player->setscale .9" (without ")
I tried it and it works so if you wanna keep your Mog small and cute, then you can try this Console trick instead of using one of the ESPs which make the Mogs bigger.

@ Westly:

(...)

I've been thinking about giving them a flying animation, though :D...

That would be cool...

Is it possible to re-size the mogs feet to maybe the size of a humans and take off the wings?

http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/5792/karenbdy.jpg, one of the companions from the MCA Mog Addon is wingless. You should be able to reproduce this.

Re-size the mogs feet to the size of a humans? What a strange idea... If the purpose is to be able to wear boots, no need to resort to such radical solutions. Mods such as Mog Supplies and MCA Mog Addon include leggings. (cf pics: http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/6586/leggings1.jpg, http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/4807/leggings3.jpg & http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/7577/leggings4.jpg) The ones from http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?id=6650&view=Mods.Detail and http://www.adul.net/index.php?p=dl_mwmods_aduls_leggings should work too. I believe there are others legging mods out there.
Now, if you actually want mogs with human-sized feet, have a look at http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1000663.

Hope this helps.

Edit: I advertised pics showing leggings from MCA Mog Addon AND Mog supplies and posted two pics of identical leggings from MCA Mog Addon. It's corrected now. Pics 1 & 2 are from Mog Addon and pic 3 is from Mog supplies.

Thanks for continuing the thread, Wheatthin!

Yes, they use the biped animations (like Golden Saints, Skeletons, and the "upright" races use)

I've been thinking about giving them a flying animation, though :D...

That would be very cool, Westly!
Flying while moving, like Winged Twilights? Or a small flying idle animation? Or something else entirely?

Is it possible to re-size the mogs feet to maybe the size of a humans and take off the wings?

There is a humanoid version of the mogs out there. I'm pretty sure it was in the last thread. It had normal feet, I believe.

The wings are easy to replace, both temp and permanently... The wings are attached to the neck.
-Temp: wear a piece of clothing or armor that uses the "neck" slot. That's why Karen has no wings in the pic AfroKing posted, she's wearing a scarf.
-Perm: In the CS replace the "neck" body part of the mog race with a normal neck.

I'm quite surprised the threads have been active for so long, with a refreshing change of pace in posters too. Maybe I'll remake my Moogle Rahl to play again.

I think you'll agree this is a classic mod. Even if it's only a cult classic.
And it is nice to see there's still a small amount of modders and mod archivers for it.

"Unfortunately" I seem to be stuck with the mca mog addon fever. The doctors say I'm in relapse right now.

Glad to see ya here Zero :)

Oh definitely. If it wasn't for me having walking issues in The Underground mod with Moogles and beast races, I probably would have reinvented my original main character. You know... or a *looks around and whispers* Mog Hunter *thunderclap*.

You know... or a *looks around and whispers* Mog Hunter *thunderclap*.

Interesting that no one has put regular mogs into vanilla creature lists just so people could hunt them yet (not counting MCA Mog Addon... )

Hmm...
1. Add passive and aggressive mogs and mini-mogs to creature leveled lists.
2. Give them random armor and items, like in MCA.
3. Each one has a "trophy" ingredient. Mog Fur/ Skin/ Bulb, etc with a nice value.
4. Maybe have a few unique mogs that some certain NPC would love to have a trophy of. (mini quest)

I do like that idea.
It'd be just like MCA Mog Addon 5 but with out all the MCA. lol.

Mhmm? Seems we have 2 old-timers around. This may be a good time to ask my questions. Hopefully both issues have been submitted and solved in one of the previous Mog*Mod threads and one of you guys remember the solution.

Issue #1

In the race selection menu, mog heads are http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/6079/mogglitch0a.jpg than any other race's heads. So big that the top is "cut" by the frame of the window, making it http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/439/mogglitch0b.jpg.

Issue #2

(I know this one is related to the Mog*Mod because it only happen when I play as a mog. It doesn't seem to be a hardware problem either because I could reproduce it on 3 different systems.)

When equipping an item in inventory mod, the screen sometimes http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/2896/mogglitch3.jpg. It mostly happens in http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/5402/mogglitch2.jpg (9 out of 10 times). Sometimes it just lasts a fraction of a second; sometimes I need to close the inventory to get back to normal. http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/4414/mogglitch1.jpg or twice I even had to reload the game to get rid of the glitch.

Issue #1 is an engine bug. No way around it. (unless the MCP can fix it somehow)

I've never seen the red screen before.

Edit:
I was wrong in my last post: I forgot that Zero Phoenix and I covertly started a mog hunting mod years ago during Qarls "mogmogmogmogmog" outburst, but never finished it. I think it got turned into one of the early MCA Mog Addons in the end.

Issue 1 is nigh impossible to get around. I know at one time someone did a "gallery" of hairs and listed what would be the selector "number" for each one. But that was just a jpeg from what... 06 or 07, I think?

Issue 2...

I had that red glitch once!

I have no clue what caused it, but I vividly remember my screen looking like that and me pulling out my hair over it.

Are you using any Shader mods?

Morrowind Comes Alive Err... Dead.

No no no. That caused too many problems years ago. Remember? lol

Let's not do that.

I don't use MCA now, since I re-installed XP. But I'd still like to see random mogs in my game... I like the Mog Hunter idea.
If I remember right, the only problems were because of some people (cough) acting like they hated the Mog*Mod, but in secret they used it.
The avatar of a mog didn't help, either. lol. (or, actually, that avatar should have helped, but no one got the joke)

If I start modding again, I'll stop playing the game, and I really just want to play the game... but I do want to have a mod like this in my game.
If I do decide to start this I'll do it from scratch, because that's how I am. I've already downloaded all the mods I'll need to put it together.
If I do a "Mog Hunter" mod I'll need help with the mini-quest(s). I can do the quests myself, I know how to do it all, but I know I'll be burned out from all the item and race editing before I get to the quests, and I'll never finish it myself. So I'd need someone to do quests. Ideally there would be a "good" and "bad" line for the quest. Good would protect the targeted mogs from the hunters, and the Bad side would just try to find and kill them. Hell, the two sides of the quest won't even need to be two sides of the same quest. They can be completely differant.

I don't know... what do you guys think?

You would have thought a large glaring moogle with netch adamantium armor and big steampunk goggles would have been a sign that I was using the mod, right? lol

Small minds and bitter spirits never lead light lives, Mar. No one got the joke except for maybe you, probably Qarl and SabreGirl.

Speaking of... anyone interested in this should get in touch with SabreGirl. I remember that she had started my original REQz years ago and maybe she'd still have some leftover resources or something.

Although again... it was years ago. I don't even see Sabregirl's site anymore.

I think a "good and bad" questline is ok, but I like the different quests idea better. An ashlander asking for the antenna of a Daedric infused moogle (using that loveable daedric skin)... wouldn't have moral debates of right or wrong, because to him, a moogle is a beast to hunt. Right? Hmmm... Maybe.

I'm waiting on my Photoshop CS3 to come in, so that I can start retexturing my favorite races and armors; and IRL I run a business and just got married. So I could probably just help with texturizing stuff (after some practice of course). I wouldn't be able to dedicate more time then that right now. But maybe if I can improve my CS skills a bit I could assist after a lil while.

I would help if I could; unfortunately my modding skills are pretty limited. Mhmm, let's see:
I can't model.
I can't texture.
I can't script.
AND my english svcks. So, unless you need a cheerleader in your team, I don't think I can be of much help?

(...) Are you using any Shader mods?

None that I know of. 2 out of my 3 computers don't even support pixel shaders.
Come to think of it... This could be caused by some unsupported feature of MGE that I unknowlingly activated? I'll try and deactivate MGE to see if the glitch still occurs.

I've seen that glitch before, and it's not related to Mog*Mod or MGE. I've done that without using either, though I can't for the life of me reproduce it.

Actually, now that I think of it, the problem might have something to do with alpha channels. It only happened after I started using alpha enabled hair/clothing. Mog*Mod has alpha channels on the little bits of fur, so that might be where the glitch comes from.

Ah wow! Hey guys!

Glad to see so many of you still around. And some relatively fresh faces, too.

Like I promised last month, I checked my backup drive for my old MW Data Files. Unfortunately I must have got rid of them, as it's not there anymore. I know I've got copies somewhere, either on my comps old dead/dying hard drive or even on CD somewhere. Wherever it is, it's got all the mog*mods on it - including MCP - , albeit mixed in with dozens of other mods. It wouldn't be very feasible to install the mod for somewhere else from there, but at least the data is there.

I'll keep looking and get back to you on that.

Should you ever lay hands on the lost mog mods, this won't be a problem if you use the export function of TESFiles. It's pretty good at retrieving the resources of mods, provided they are all in the appropriate folders and they have not been overwritten by completely different files with the same name (I guess this can happen?)

By the way, if anyone else has those mods stashed away somewhere in their archives, it would be great should they upload them. If I'm not mistaken, the only remaining missing mods are The Mog*Mod Community Patch and the original version of the Moglits (the version available on PES has a german esp).

And of course it wouldn't hurt to have the resources of the dead WIPs available too? :hehe:

Speaking of vintage stuff? The other day I stumbled across http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v479/Ger-MW/Morrowind/. Some of them are set in some Mog village, featuring NPCs, shops and services. Should it have been released, I assume it would be in this thread. At first I thought it could be Koorishima: Mog Island, but I don't see Ger's name among the team. Does anyone has an idea what it is?

Edit: there is at least one other missing mog mod: Marbred's http://marbred.rethan-manor.net/page18.htm.

There's a name I hadn't seen in a looong time now.

Unfortunately I'm pretty sure that http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showuser=161280 left the community awhile ago (a few years now I think). It was around the time that shenanigans were happening in the community about moogles.

In regards to the Mog*Mod... is there any recommended resources made that I could start retexturing for practice?

I know I could always start up on some of the BB meshes from their site, but I'd feel more comfortable with reskinning instead of making from scratch for the time being.

It's been too long since I used Photoshop and I want to give reskinning armor and clothes a shot.
