Mog*Mod Thread: The Big 1-0

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:20 am

Hey... what about an invisible body, and have the mini-mog be permenantly "floating?"

That'd make them the normal size, and despite problems with wielding weapons and such, they'd be playable... well, kinda. Funky, but playable.

I think the mini mog is pretty much just one mesh. I'm probably wrong (how could the arms move if that's true?)

I don't know. Ian did a lot of funky stuff when he made everything. And I don't understand 1% of it.

You could probably dissect his meshes and assign them as different body parts. I just toggled "playable" in the Moglets mod for that test :P

Wow, thats a lot of errors, go check to make sure you installed it right, and that the files are in the proper places.

they are, and i don't think putting armor meshes or textures in the wrong place would result in my character's feet being attached to his back...

i'm also getting this error from MCA addon:

Expression Error Unable to find object "a_Mog_amulet_Cave01" in script Marb_MogAmulet.

Expression Error Unable to find object "a_Mog_amulet_Cave01" in script Marb_MogAmulet.

I hate that stupid error with a passion.

The script calls the amulet, but the amulet was deleted.
You can: Ignore it (it doesn't CTD does it? I forget.), comment that line in the script out, delete the script, or create any object that has that ID.

There won't be a patch from me. I've taken up gamesass business strategy :P

Well, I haven't touched the CS since creating the outside landmass and interior cell. But I originally didn't have enough HDD space to extract the Interior Land Meshes that I've downloaded. Though I do now, I just haven't gotten around to it.

Instead, I've been working on quests and "easter eggs" (like that bandanna I asked Ant about, though that'll wait until when/if we get our next modeller.)

Also, fleshing out NPC's.

So, no, not dead. At least on paper.

If you guys want me to work in the CS so we can get to the Screenshot stage, then bother me about it, and it'll get done ^_^. But as for now... I'm doin' the low-impact stuff, because I'm lazy.

Well ive been working on that bandanna for you, but i hit a roadblock and decided to make this thing.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t215/holystone/mooglehouse.jpg

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t215/holystone/ScreenShot0.jpg

It was originally going to be a house but I blanked on the interior decor, like the wall colors and stuff and when I imported it the first time it was hat sized. :hehe:
It doesn't have a texture yet and still needs some refining (I want to make the deeli-bob a light).
I don't know what it's going to be so, any input on the final product, interior wall design, and decor would be appreciated and taken into consideration.

I was going to put boosters on the bottom and make it a space ship, (maybe the one they crashed in) but thats just a thought.

I will get on that bandanna asap and you can have it once i figure out how get it to you. :embarrased:

Oh! That's just too funny...

I dunno if it would work as a house: I planned for them to live in, well, a half-nordic, half-cave type of dwelling that they made out of tunneling, and supplies on the island.

Still, it may find a home yet, XD.

As for the bandanna, what kind of snag have you hit? I've always wondered about the intricacies of modeling...

Basically making it fit his head and ears without looking ridiculous.

I knew the thing I made wasn't what you were thinking of as a house on their island. It was a dining room table drawing on friday at around 8 pm
and my A.D.D. made me make it on saturday. It is my interpretation of moogle housing or space craft but like I said it was a thought and could be anything really.(I even thought of one day animating the ears when i have a couple of days off to make myself learn which might be later this week.)

Are you still implementing materia into your mod? If so I have ideas of how it could be without being totally game breaking.

Ill try to get screenshots of the bandanna to show you what ive got so far tomorrow at 11pm when i get home from work. Please feel free to criticize as this is essentially your idea. (I have the game your pics were from and I might have to play it to get an idea of how to make it look good. :P )

And i dont know how to upload files, so any help on that would be appreciated or this is dead before its even started.

Okay, lay it on me! I was thinking it would kind of work like "slotted" weapons from Diablo, but I'm open to anything.

Go ahead, but take as much time as you need!

Well, I've never uploaded files for mass download before, but if you're just showing me something, you could even email it to me. If you wanna do that, let me know and I'll PM you me address.

I realized that I dont leave till 1 so here's some screens of the bandanna. for some reason blender renderer slaughters westly's textures for his moogles

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t215/holystone/mooglebandanna2.jpg

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t215/holystone/mooglebandanna1.jpg

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t215/holystone/mooglebandanna3.jpg

Thats a temporary texture on it right now I was thinking a darker green and I still have to make it work in game.

I don't know what all you know about materia and I haven't touched FF7 in a long time but IIRC it was used as a power source in certain objects. So I was thinking maybe scripted doors for the materia kinda like they did for the glacier portals in solstheim. Like if you dont have a certain materia you cant go through certain doors and maybe put easter eggs behind some of them. And hiding materia around the island in chests on monsters in shops and randomely placed in spots. It did have a limited amount of uses per piece so either cast when used enchantments on weapons or bracelets or non "uber" CE enchantments like fortifying attributes or skills like in your idea.

Right now I currently have no physiquing/skinning/weighting experience which limits me to statics, hats, and weapons. Speaking of which I was thinking of remoddeling some moogle hats like the engineer one fromFFTA and the jester hat from Ian's jedi academy moogles and a helmet from Chrono trigger which is essencially a pair of boxers worn as a hat. Ian's Adventures in Morrowind comic reminded me of it.

What was the transportation method they used to get there, and what you using for moogle bodies bb or not?

Yeah, it's lookin' great so far!

Only criticism I could give is that it looks pretty stiff, sticking up on the forehead. But that's probably the snag you were talking about.

Well, I've got work too, so I've gotta go! I'm workin 'till late, so I'll see you all tomorrow.

That's exactly the snag I hit but I worked on it this morning. How's this?

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t215/holystone/mooglebandanna6.jpg

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t215/holystone/mooglebandanna4.jpg

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t215/holystone/mooglebandanna5.jpg

If this meets your approval all that's left is putting it in game and testing it out.

*Squee*

Ah, that's great!

Err, I hate to bring this up, though: but I just thought of it.

Are the moogle's ears animated? I seem to remember that they 'twitch' every once in awhile. It'd probably clip then. But if the ears are still 3/4 of the time, I think we can ignore it.

Anyway, great job, can't wait to see it in game, Holy Stone!

...I'm gonna go work in the CS for awhile now... see what I can get done.

Edit: Further progress made on the outside, and a little on the inside of the valley, but trudging through meshes is tedious... because even with the preview box, I've got no idea how big they are...

Well I got it in the game, and its in the right spot.

Here's some screens.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t215/holystone/ScreenShot5.jpg

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t215/holystone/ScreenShot3.jpg

Yup, the bandanna will clip on any head that doesn't have the wide open eyes. (the head I use personally falls into the Ugly category. )

There is good news, it doesnt clip when the ears twitch. :twirl:

Well boss what do you want me to do, I can say good enough, or I can make 2 more bandannas, its up to you.

Are there any moogle birthsigns?

Ah, nice job! I'd say mission accomplished.

You can make the other bandanna's if ya want. The Mog whose quest it'll be attached to in-game has wide eyes, but the player has an option to take it; so we may need others then.

Hmm, we don't have mog Birthsigns. That'd be neat to have... maybe one or two birthsigns relating to Final Fantasy? Like Summons, or Gods or something?

I wonder if Ant ever got those armor pieces to work. I think they wer e finished...

I'm not sure if making the mini mogs playable would turn out good. They're a very very small race. You know the stairs bug that happens sometimes with normal sized mogs? Imagine that only worse. But, of course, I've never tried it to find out...

Changing the floppy ball thing (pon-pon, I think it's called) would also change the nose color. They're the same thing. If you look at the screenshot for the Moglits mod you'll notice all the noses and pon-pons are the same colors. I got very frustrated when I realized the skin did that.

It's a good idea for different heads to choose from. If anyone does end up trying it... oh screw it, I'm going to go test it out :P brb

edit:
Ok then...

Where'd the rest of him go? No idea. I think new meshes need to be made for them to be playable.

OMG I LOVE IT XD!!! Plus, if I'm a moglit, I don't want to be clothed!!
Also, Who needs to walk up stairs when you can jump? I'm still all for this mod. Also, The color it is is fine, no changes necessary!

Be that the case, then you don't need someone else's mod. Just find the "moglit" race, and check the "playable" box.

You hath mentioned his name, therefore he appears!
The boots are finished. They have been. Everyone has seen those. The helmet neets a retex, and The Ant happens to be hard at work on a certain daedric "helmet." Surely you wouldn't be interested in that daedric "helmet" though.
You will get what you want eventually. Until then, I need to do some texturing, some modeling (A big hood for a certain large, oddly-shaped head), and a new start (because not everyone wants to be an ex-con).

As for that bandanna thing, why don't you just use one that works with all of them at once?

As for Ren's workshop. It's dead again of course. That is what the boots were for. Heck, I still have the file for the glass boots WIP.

As for moglits and small size, I've played as small furry rodents for how long and never had a problem with stairs (OK, so I did before but all you have to do is reset their scale with a script or consol command).

Back to the forge I go.

Got it done and ready to go all i need is a place to send it. Did you want an .esp or just the models and textures?

The Ant, the reason for three bandannas is simple. I'm a perfectionist. Making one bandanna that would fit all three heads would look odd on any head but the half closed eyes one, as the left ear is tilted sideways i had to bend the fabric around it. On any head but that one you would have this odd bend and i didn't like that so i made three bandannas, simple.

Ah, just the mesh and texture will be fine, as I'm hoping to only need one or two ESP's for this mod in the end.

Do you want to host them on rapidshare or something, or should I give you my email? It's your choice how you want to do it.

You know...for a Mog mod, that mod doesn't look very Mog-ish. First of all the wings are too big, the head is definitely not Mog shaped, the pompom is too small, and they walk like an Argonian/Khajiit but in Final Fantasy they walk upright just like humans do. Also...they look taller than they should. Other than that, they look okay. I was thinking of downloading it but Mogs are just way too out of place in Morrowind. They don't fit in at all but I suppose I can't complain because there's a lot of mods out there that don't fit in that i've downloaded.
