[WIPz] Mogmod Community Compilation

Post » Sat Jan 08, 2011 4:19 am

Hello and welcome to all MogMod (or just moogles in general) fans to my humble little WIP thread.

Some of you may have heard me mention every now and then a Mogmod project I was working, and some of you who browse Furaffinity might have seen my journal entry on the subject. But I'll confess I had originally planned on holding off on a thread of its own here until I had a working alpha out. However I see that will be longer than I anticipated, and I could use the input and other things I need more immediately. So yes, here it is.

Brief Description:
For those of you "Moogle" lovers out there, this one is for you. Its a direct sequal to the Mogmod Community Patch, a project by various fans of Ian Mcconvile's Mog Mod for morrowind that fixes many errors and adds new weapons and armors (mostly breaker/buster swords and Mog-compatable helmets and boots, but it has some custom ones too.) This mod will do that and so much more. More races, more armors, A dedicated shop in Suran for your resizing needs along with several, three-dimensional, LGNPC-inspired characters A working MCA 6.0 patch, a deep backstory behind the moogles, and a new faction are just the beginning of what you'll find here.

Feature List/Planned Features:
  • Three new playable races... Two old favorites and one "new" ones: Kage Mogs and Forest mogs are now completely integrated (as is the original), and introducing the never seen before (in morrowind anyway): Ivalician Moogles from Final Fantasy Tactics!1

  • Rebalanced moogle weapons and items! No more broken enchantments and uber-powerful, uber-cheap breakers.

  • New "Breaker Affinity" for moogles that gives Mogs an advantage of wielding these (and similarly large) weapons over the native Vvardenfell ones, including increased hit-chance and a feather ability equal to the item's weight. Other races can still use these weapons, but will be at a large disadvantage due to the weapon's weight and slow speed compared to more "Mainstream" weapons.

  • New Toggle system for wings and lights: Don't want to jump 300 feet into the air with each jump? Turn it off! Want to fly more smoothly? A new toggle levitation ability is provided for you! Need a light, but forgot your torch at home? Your bobble works like a light bulb! Just remember though: these features will drain your stamina/make it harder to regenerate stamina.

  • Immersive way to resize your helmets and boots! No more need to shop-hop for a moogle version of a helmet you already have! For those that want new... well, see below. A new shop has been added in Suran for all your moogle needs. Staring none other than the character who started this whole thing, the Mac Hall herself: Ren! 2

  • Moogle Merchants spread throughout Vvardenfell (and Tribunal and Bloodmoon): Default merchants will no longer sell mog equipment (breakers, footware, etc), and therefore you will no longer need to guess which ones sell moogle equipment and which ones dont.. Instead you can only get moogle equipment from the moogles themselves!

  • 3 Dimensional characters: No boring Moogles: Inspired by the awesome LGNPC project, no two moogles (except perhaps the MCA ones) are alike in either look or personality! Each has their own story to tell, their own dialog, their own point of veiw on the world around them. Some are bright and cheery, some are dark and depressing, but never just a mindless stuff-selling drone. Since this is a "community" compilation, I am taking/requesting characters from the community. I am taking in all character drafts! If your interested in having a character star in this mod, see the draft down below and submit your moogle character today!

  • over 700 new hairs to choose from!: contains hairs from Westly's Master headpack X, converted for moogle use, as well as ones from MCP

  • BB body integration: Moogles now use BB bodies, and all 4 races now have BB Bodies. (No gaudy parts though... they're all hidden)

  • Moogle Temple: A returning favorite, now renovated and moved to a less obvious location. Can you find it? (Note: Japanese House mod NOT required)

  • Moogle Quests: Help, or harm the new, up and coming races of moogles in a series of quests, and receive unique rewards! Help a moogle find true love, Help a scolar unravel the secrets and intentions of the House of Mog, etc! 3

  • MCA patch included: An optional MCA Mogs Patch 6.0 included for MCA users to bring moogles to every corner of Vvardenfell society!

  • Ivalician Moogles are only in prototype/placeholder stage currently. I am still looking for someone to help me make a proper head/hands and feet for them. However, all the stats/spells etc are done. Anyone who has nifskoping/3d modeling experience speak up now! While I can't guarantee they'll have the correct head models by the time I get the Alpha out, I can guarantee that they will be playable.
  • ... And a lolcat speaking argonian!
  • so far I only got two ideas for quests so far. The ones listed.

Quite the list isnt' it?

I will however need YOUR help here I am currently looking for a few things from the community:

If you have a Moogle character that you would like to contribute to the project. IM or PM me your character. Please include the followind for your submission:

  • Name, Gender And Race (Minimog1, Ivalician, High Moogle (Mcconville White Originial), Kage Mog (Black Machall Moogle), Forest Moogle (Green Machall Moogle) )

  • what does (s)he do for a living? Does he/she belong to a guild? Any hobbies?

    3. Describe his/her Personality. Is this person bright and cheerful? Is this person broken and depressed? or is [s]he narcissistic and selfish?

  • (Optional) What is this character's backstory? Otherwise if you can't think of anything, tell me the following:
    1. How epic should this character's backstory be? (1= boring, not much happened in his/her life untill this point, 10=This character is more exciting than the nerevarine!)
    2. How cheery or dark should this character's backstory be? (1=Bright, cheery and happy. (IE I grew up in a priviledged family, got everything I wanted, and now i'm off to see the world! HAPPY FUN ADVENTURE!) 5= So-so. Not too cheery not to dark. 10= A pretty depressing life. 15= CRAWWWLLLINNGGG IN MY SKIN! but seriously. beaten, abused, tortured, starved, etc. until this point. 2

  • (Optional)Dialogue. If you were to ask him about his race, what would he say? Any special greetings for the player? Anything to say relating his current location (IE if he's in Ald Ruhn what would he say about House Redoran? Or the Temple?)

  • Location. Where can I find this character? Is he/she alive or dead?

    7. (Optional) What would anyone in this room (s)he is currently in have to say about this. What about the other people in town? Describe reactions from people in that particular place.

  • Does this moogle have a picture? If so link it. If not, describe the hair, clothes, armor and weapons you want this moogle to wear.

And I will include your moogle character in the mod! I'm looking forward to seeing what the community has to offer in the way of original characters.

That being said, a little note on what I will accept:

Minimogs: yes. But keep in mind that minimogs CANNOT wear any clothes, armors, special hairs, etc. and probably shouldn't wield weapons. This is why they aren't playable.

Non-Mogs: Maybe, if they inspire me enough. But keep in mind the demand for them is quite low.

Overpowered Supercharacters: Hell no. Keep it real please.

advlt themes: I believe in realism when it comes to characters, so yes, I will allow heavily implied advlt themes for the sake of character realism and artistic color. In fact a few backstories and dialog have such advlt themes in them currently. However, I ask that you keep it realistic, and if at all possible, indirect. Having your character brag about the "fun night in the bedroom last night with their best friend" Yes, that works. Having them talk about the same with 50 guys... NO, that's not. Having them talk about scat... no I will NOT accept that, No one (except perhaps a very very very tiny minority) wants to hear about that, and that's not very realistic anyway!! Also try to avoid having advlt themes just for the sake of having advlt themes. This is not a porm mod. The point is to make the player connect (and no not that way, pervs...) with the NPC hes talking about.

In short: Keep it on the same level as Julan Ashlander or LGNPCs has.

Homo/bisixuality: ... yes. I'm not either of these myself, but it's realistic and already in the game (Crassius anyone?). However, you should not have him/her brag or be open about it, as such a character would get sent to the ministry of truth pretty quickly (unless of course thats where you want players to find them... ;) .)

Also if anyone has any Final Fantasy clothing/weapons/armors, feel free to submit them or point them out to me.

Also I'm looking for someone who's good with nifskope/blender or other 3d modeling programs. I'm trying to turn the Moogle head on the Ivalician moogle (currently just a machall moogle head) into an Ivalican moogle head (In other words: Change the ears into Bunny-like ears and make the bobble bigger). And if necessary, the hands and feet too (currently uses an imperial body)

I hope I'll get quite a bit of feedback here, and ideas, and hopefully some help for my head problems with the Ivalician Moogle. Truthfully I was hoping to wait with opening a thread until I had a working Alpha, but seeing as that's a bit farther off than I had originally anticipated, I decided to open a thread here earlier.

And now, for some pics.
Moogle Temple note: The Mog Ordinatiors are placeholders for testing paths.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/?action=view¤t=TempleOut.png, presented here as a frame of reference. Was formerly located just south of Seyda neen. Was too easy to find, had very little real point to it, and while it looked nice, I just think the bitter coast was not a very good place to put it. On top of that it required MCA 4.1, AND the japanese house mod to work right. Thankfully both of these requirements have been removed.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/Moogle%20Compilation/MGEScreenshot4.png I couldn't find a hoodie anywhere, so she instead wears a daedric armor and a ceremonial wraithpaw lookalike on her arm. Unfortunately HELLUVA kinda messes up the daedric armor model for women, so thats why it doesn't look like the picture you see in the reception area. She will resize any lightly or non-enchanted helmet or boot for you. She has quite a few stories to tell, about both her and the fellow residents of her shop, but only to those she really likes. Since she's immune to charm attempts and won't fall for cheap words (Persuasion attempts), you'll have to find another way to earn her trust. Hmmmm....

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v213/rylasasin/Moogle%20Compilation/?action=view¤t=MGEScreenshot6.png She is shy, quiet, and not outgoing. That is not to say she is unfriendly however. Just not very trusting of strange people. She has quite a story to tell, but ask at your own risk. Otherwise, she will resize any enchanted item discounting self-enchanted ones that Ren can't.

Hmmm, I could try making new models for this project based on the concepts, I'll message you with more details, some models which I made for my own project. speaking of moogles and modifying their heads, I'm still figuring it out, however for clothes, I can do a little bit of that. but I'm mostly specialized in mesh creation at the moment. I look forward to seeing some more of this!

I received your PM and sent you one in return. Though on the subject for clothes...

Maybe some final-fantasy esque clothes would be in order for them to wear? We already have a few, but not a whole lot.

http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Moogle for some ideas? and more moogle concepts while we're at it.

Thanks again, I had just considered selfing this due to lack of public interest, but I see I was wrong about that.

I wouldn't let the lack of interest discourage you, despite there may be some folks who hate mogs, I'm sure there are other mog lovers. perhaps its been too long since there been something new about mogs and it's random stuff.

And a little update for you folks: We now have Ivalician moogle heads!

http://clip2net.com/u/solidfire/portfolio-2-0/page-7815832-1284452062-clip-207kb/

We couldn't decide between smooth/fluffy ears and backwards/forwards for the bobbles, so we decided to do all 4 at once. Choice is good :)

Remember: we're very much open for character applications! In fact, we're looking for such unique moogles to make and place in the game.

Oh wow! I love what you have done with Ren's Arms and Armory. Did you already give Sris and Srifi backgrounds, I could type out the original Sris'. Idea for short quests: Handing out fliers for local moogle merchants/RA&A, Putting up posters for Ren's Armory and Arms(may be more work than it is worth). I also like the Invalice moogles so far, maybe you could use clothes as body parts to shorten the legs and arms? A quibble about breaker affinity although I haven't played with it maybe just a partial feather of the weight would be better?

I have seen threads about moogles before, but in them I have never seen it explained, what a moogle is. Judging by the picture it's a bunny-looking creature, but what is a moogle?

…And if you're curious and you wonder how they ended up in Morrowind, check http://web.archive.org/web/20050914104455/machall.com/mog/faq.html.

To be honest both of us so far have taken somewhat of a vacation, me with Nehrim (which is actually turning out to be more of a headache than a pleasure... not the mod itself but getting things to run for it) and Solid with minecraft.

but we've both agreed that Monday we get back to work on mogmod, so when monday comes around... welcome aboard!

Just wanted to say that I'm really looking forward to the completion of this project. I'm glad to see that there are still people interested in the Moogles.
Good Luck.

And now that the vacation to Nehrim is over, time to get back on track and remember where I left off :glare:

It helps to remember that moogles are not exclusively a morrowind thing either. In fact most of the support I get for this project actually comes from people who've never even played morrowind, let alone seen Ian's Incarnation of them.

This might not be the best place to ask this but. I'm having an issue with the MCA Moogle addon, the Moogles I encounter are quite a bit smaller than my character Moogle and my character seems too big to begin with. (almost the size of wood elves) The height data in the files are all the same, is there something I'm missing here?
EDIT: Here and image of what I mean http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l186/grey_wilder/ScreenShot0.jpg

First, the reason the player race Mog's are as small as Wood Elves (and not any smaller) is that to decrease their height any further would cause glitches when trying to go up and down stairs (a known issue of collisions vs height for the more diminutive races :( ).

Second, the in MCA are scaled in the CS (either by script or manually altering the height by pressing the "S" key while rolling the mouse down, not by using the race height weight parameters). This allows for making them smaller and more "moogle-esque" without interfering with the playable race ;) .

Hope that helps... :bolt:

Ah thank you Westly the whole thing was a bit jarring but that makes sense. I actually made a custom file to make them smaller as a test. I knew about the stair glitch but wow that's bad. I guess I'll just have to live with being a big moogle, although I don't like how MCA moogles are smaller than my character but oh well. Something else I am having a problem with is this red screen effect that appears every now and then. I've never had this happen before only after adding the Mog Mod. Basically what happens is the entire screen looks like it's under a red light and the text is replaced by blocks. I have no idea what's causing this any ideas?

EDIT: Sigh more problems. I just installed Moogle Temple and the new female moogle face won't load.

I encountered the "http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1017375-mogmod-thread-11/page__view__findpost__p__14844870" too. It was caused by the Morrowind Code Patch. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1017375-mogmod-thread-11/page__view__findpost__p__14984661.

. Regarding the oversized Mogs issue:
Do you have Tribunal or Bloodmoon installed?
If so, you can use the optional ESP provided with the Mog*Mod v4b (it goes by the explicit name of _Mog_ENABLE_ONLY_IF_EXPANSIONS_PRESENT.esp). It will resize your PC to the size of the MCA Moogles. Just make sure it loads after _Mog_Race_v4b.esp.
The stairs glitch Westly mentioned seems to be a rare occurrence. I have yet to encounter it (but then again I didn't play much lately…). The worst thing that [u]happened to my PC was him walking through some furniture. I'd rather have that than playing a giant mutant Mog…

. Regarding the Moogle Temple issue:
This mod is dependant of MCA Mog Addon v5 (not the latest v5.2), MCA v4.1 (not MCA v5.2 or the latest v6.1) and Japanese House Final. Make sure you have them installed.

MetaSieg, you should post any further issue in the Mog*Mod thread. This will prevent hijacking Rylasasin's WIP thread.

Alright thanks for the info AfroKing I'll see what I can do. On the stair glitch I always get this so it's not rare for me. And I have the correct versions of the mods required for Moogle Temple it just seems to have an problem with loading the new moogle face for some reason. I will post any other problems to the other thread. I was actually afraid of hijacking this thread to begin with and I don't wanna do that.

Yeah it is :-/

This does bring up some good points however...

Stair/Size thing: MCC will automaticly resize your character, so the stair thing wont' be a problem.

Moogle temple: Included, but moved to a different location and renovated. No Jap House (though it still uses the japanese tileset, which is included) no MCA necessary (though it does have an MCA patch).

I assume its a glitch from the Morrowind Code Patch, which normally happens when I have too many things selected in the code patch, so I choose only a select few to minimize that effect. it only happens when it tries to repair the red transparent clothes on the character via menu. so I kept it disabled to avoid the red screen effect. however I don't know about you, since I don't know what you got selected and what settings you have.
