Since re-releasing http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1240206-relz-enhanced-night-sky-for-new-vegas/ a couple days ago, I've been tinkering with an ultra-detailed moon replacer to go with it. Complemented with a simple plugin to reduce the moon to a more realistic size, the result is http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=44381 - a mod for complete night-time realism! Works great on its own or in combination with weather or night-darkening mods (though I highly recommend the latter for total immersion) and also comes with alternate moon textures with a subtler glow. I've tried to use as much photographic detail as possible, taking the light/dark border directly from reference photos to ensure an accurate depiction (even though the moon is quite small in the sky anyway, heh) and even modifying the outline of the moon to its real, craggy shape. At 2048x2048 it should stand up to extremely close scrutiny.
The night sky replacer is the same as in my (now obsolete) Enhanced Night Sky mod, created from high-resolution starfield images and revamped for the skies of New Vegas. The included "Mojave Nights.esp" plugin is entirely optional, it only changes the size of the moon (you can edit the game setting "iMasserSize" with the G.E.C.K if you feel like experimenting, http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/8899/mojavenightsmoonphasesl.jpg to support even enormous moon settings.)
Enjoy the Mojave night in its http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/7320/mojavenights5.jpg
