Obviously F:NV is not set in Washington D.C, and is instead set in "New Vegas". New Vegas itself is still intact, and there seems to be very little in the way of ruins to explore. One of the best things about FO3 was exploring the ruins of D.C. , fighting Supermutants, making your way through ruined buildings, subways ect. Running around in an open desert doesn't seem very interesting. What is there in the game to add a little exploration, and unknown?

I loved running through the open desert wasteland in Fallout 3.

There was so much to see, and loads of places to explore.

I do agree, but heading through the city is definitely something I'm going to miss

I have a feeling Obsidian put plenty of locations in the desert for us to explore!

You'll still head through a city.
Only difference is that it actually has a population other than Super Mutants and Mercs.

Well things i know have to be in the game are secret armoury's. Tho i dont think there will be any huge city there will be small towns mainly around the strip itself that you can kinda consider "Citys". But tho citys were cool im not mad if there gone. Fallout New Vegas makes up for it in many ways, hardcoe mode, Lots of Quest, improved Dialouge, Imporved AI, 3 factions= Great Re-play. Subfactions, lots of armour and wepons, and so on. So not at all am i gonna be disapointed in this game. Everything i have found out about this game is great.

Exploring the ruins of D.C. was my least favorite thing to do in FO3.It was limited and filled with metro stations to travel around. It was blocked throughout.

What? Nobody else is gonna be lookin' for snowglobes?

I will.

there are 200 locations plus side locations that dont get marked on your map. There are just as many locations as there was in fallout 3 so do not worry. This game will last you longer the Fallout 3 im sure.

I think the exploration is going to be more about factions, people, quests, and whatnot, instead of Fallout 3's which was more about wastes, ruins, and super mutants.

There is going to be something like bobbleheads but give no benefits when found... That was the highlight of fallout 3 explorations for me. new vegas was "roughly" untouched so there might be some ruins who knows? Im not sure if it was tooottalllly untouched but from how the designers word themselves :ahhh:

Considering the large number of quests and the equivalent number (to FO3) of (marked?) locations there's going to be a lot of stuff in the desert...

Well yeah, Vegas is a big place. The Strip is just the most secure place and the most wealthiest.
But there are still areas around The Strip which are considered to be part of New Vegas such as Freeside and another place I don't remember the name for.
And I'm fairly sure there'll be some parts of Vegas that'll be more dangerous and hostile than Freeside is.

Wanamigos :ahhh:

I hope there is a queen and hive(?) of them that we haven't known about as yet. But damn they were a nightmare if you stumbled across them early doors. A definite case of WTF just happened? I got creamed by some weird looking thing, *reload* shoot at it a couple of times then ... RUN AWAY RUN AWAY!

There isn't.
They're dead.

As I've said in another thread:

"The only known queen lived in the Wanamingo Mine in Redding, owned by Ascorti. All "aliens" living in that mine were killed by the Chosen One in 2242. Some other wanamingos/aliens could be found in the desert, and in the San Francisco tanker." http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Wanamingo

As there were other reports of wanamingos away from Redding, there is the possibility of another queen having escaped and set up her own hive someplace else.

As I've said in another thread:

And as I've said countless of times:
The eggs you see in Fallout 2 are the last generation of Wannamingoes to exist in the wasteland; the young Wannamingoes seen in F2 will perish in five years, and their parents a few years before that - an internal genetic clock will simply stop ticking, and they'll fall over dead. The Wannamingoes are a vicious mutant breed that had their moment in the sun, and now their sun has set.

To put the tombstone on their extinction, the largest known nest of Wannamingoes were wiped out when the Great Wannamingo mine was reclaimed by Redding with the help of a traveling tribal. The mother was killed, and the last remaining eggs were hunted down, stepped on, and then the remains were examined by local scientists and doctors who came to the extinction conclusions mentioned above

As a final note, this is strictly a personal decision on my part. If you want them to live for fan fiction, pen-and-paper role-playing campaign purposes, or for your own peace of mind, feel free to have some of them survive the stopping of their genetic clock – in the Black Isle universe, however, the little buggers are already dead and their irradiated shells are scattered along the floor of abandoned mines throughout northern California where they make nice crunching noises when you step on them.

Extinct.

Fair play, I haven't read the Fallout Bible in years, probably still got it all on one of my back up discs around here somewhere if I searched hard enough. I certainly don't remember such a definite black and white they is gone ending for them, But then lets be honest the Bible wasn't always the easiest of things to read in a linear sense of things lol.

I spent four times as much time in the metro tunnels, trying to get to the city. Don't think I'm going to miss it
