Molag Bal is all about domination and enslavement, whereas Boethiah is all about being independent and powerful.

There's something I've noticed with those two. Molag Bal, for all is nastiness, doesn't betray those that serve him. He punishes disloyalty and betrayal severely but I've not heard of him doing turning on his faithful for giggles. He does, after all, go out of his way to get the vampirism cure from Vaermina in Morrowind, and rescue you from death when you do his quest in Oblivion. Boethiah on the other hand makes his/her followers kill each other for his/her pleasure, only rewarding those that survive. Molag Bal and some of his followers sometimes do this too, but only to non-worshipers.

Other than that, they were both worshiped by the Tribunal Temple prior to Almsivi, but afterwards, . There's also a Temple story that supposedly Molag Bal oversaw the 99 lovers of Boethiah that gave birth to Almalexia, but aside from being BS, it doesn't explain why they hate each other now.

Edit: All that aside, they remind me of how in Dungeons and Dragons, Devils (lawful evil) and Demons (chaotic evil) similarly hate each other.

No they weren't. Boethiah was worshiped, but Molag Bal was vilified as one of the Four Corners of the House of Troubles. He did have plenty of interaction with the Tribunal themselves though.

Sorry about that, I forgot to finish that while working on my post. I meant to say that they were both worshiped before Almsivi showed up, but afterwards, Boethiah continued to be worshiped, while Molag Bal was not. Supposedly it was because while Boethiah accepted Almsivi, Molag Bal did not.

In all seriousness, remember that Bal was trying to [censored] Vehk, but Vehk outkinkied him.
