Ol' Molag

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 5:59 am

And thus, the Lore Forum trembled.

Seems like ol' Molag is already doing pretty well in here. I smell sweat and tears.

Aside from that; its announced? Its really announced? By Azura, by Azura, by Azura! My life ends upon the beta's beggining. I basically spend most of my entertainment time immersed in the single player TES games. The MMO CE might aswell come enchanted with Soul Trap.

People shouldn't give ol' Molag crap. I wouldn't think of going into combat without his mace.

I'm confused about the Molag Bal thing too, and I was glad/not surprised to see people already talking about it here. My lore is rusty and I have about a billion tabs of UESP up trying to figure all of this out. It's making my head spin.

What was Oblivion's (the game's) excuse for retconning the whole tower thing? Was it just because the Amulet of Kings was stolen and there was no known heir present (coupled with the worshipping of Mehrunes Dagon)? That alone just...ugh. What.

I'm trying to wrap my head around how Molag Bal could feasibly be trying to svck Mundas into Oblivion in the Second Era and why they don't just make use of the loads of lore that's already been written for them instead of inventing new problems with dragons and writing in new conflicts with Daedra. And potentially more Dragon Breaks.

I am honestly terrified what this means for the lore. They will probably shove some giant [censored] story that makes no sense in the middle of the 2nd era, disregard all standing lore, and then pussify Molag Bal because they might want to have "standards"

There are no such thing as STANDARDS for the KING OF [censored].

Oh god.

Could somebody please explain to me why MMOs must be inherently bad? I've played several, and enjoyed the time I spent in all of them. I stuck to roleplay servers, so the community wasn't ever a big deal for me.

God...I am just...so worried about what this is going to do for the TES universe we know and love.

I guess all we can do at this point is speculate...but I am still worried.
For the very advlt nature of Bal.
For my dear Elsweyr.
For the wierdness.

Methinks it will take place in Coldharbour because of its kickass nature, and how removed it is from TES.

Also, Molag Bal is the lord of many kinds of [censored], such as soul twisting and dominion over the weak. Also, it's nice to see a new Arena-style game. Which, technically, is what this will be. I'll skip it over Guild Wars 2.

For my dear Elsweyr.

Don't worry about Elsweyr. It looks like its taking place in Cyrodiil.

Is it going to place pre-ALMSIVI? Because the idea of them turning up at the height of their powers is making me grin.

It's taking place during the second era, so no.

Think two decades before the Kamal invasion of Morrowind, so yeah, long after the Tribunal originally gained their powers. But a few hundred years before Dagoth Ur emerged and chased them away from the heart.

WHich makes me wonder what the excuse would be to prevent a deus ex Morrowind.

Maybe it can take place during a Dragon Break or something? Maybe to explain all the heros and weirdness?

Molag Bal? was he not the Akatosh of the previous kalpa? perhaps he is trying to usurp/mantle Akatosh in the current to get that back.

IGN is saying that though it takes place all across Tamriel, the action centers on Cyrodiil.

For what that's worth.
