Molerat Disease FO4

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 7:09 am

So my character has molerat disease and it's annoying me I gave the cure to the kid but can't get rid of the disease I only found out I had it way later through the game. I go to the doctors that say they can cure diseases but I cannot be cured and it's really annoying always seeing that -10hp debuff I just want to know if there is any way to cure this disease through the game without the 81 cure if not Bethesda please put this in a patch for the game so doctors can cure this.

You may want to ask for this to be moved to the Spoilers and Hints forum as it is essentially a spoiler.

Dude that's the entire point of the choice it gives you. If you wanted it gone you should have kept it for yourself?

But doctors say they can cure you of any disease...........

And I didn't keep it because my character is not that messed up killing a child for his own selfish disires

Except they make it clear this is a special disease, heck they make a big gasp thing over the fact there is only one cure vial left.

Would kinda rob the decision of its weight if you could just put a few caps in a doctors hands and cure it just like that.

Permanent -10 max hp debuff. I let the kid die, giving the cure to him isn't worth it, you can get a syringe gun randomly from ruined hospitals, but you can't get your 10hp back. Also syringe guns svck anyway.

Oh okay, the syringe gun is the reward for that. I saw one of those on sale like the first 10 minutes of playing the game. It wasn't expensive either.

This have been posted before, the disease can be cured only with the cure, doctros cant do it, If you dont split the cure(Saving both you and the child) in a quest then you will have it for ever, if you play on pc there is the Item code for you to sumon it and cure yourself, you should try to look on the forums before making a new topic.

You could just not get hit by the molerats. You only get the disease if they actually bite you.

Cant split the cure, doctor just remarks it doesn't work like that, its either you or the kid

I pick the kid anyway, because well, I rp someone who has morals ;3

You also get the disease if any of them hits your companion, or a protectron you activated, somehow...

I have (some) morals, I'm just also very selfish.

I don't think that's true... I went through with Dogmeat, and I managed to not get the disease (with a bit of quicksaving), but Dogmeat certainly would have gotten hit.

Maybe because Dogmeat doesn't count as a companion mechanics-wise. Like how you still get the buffs from Lone Wanderer if you have him along.

That's not a bug?

edit: Not saying it can't be related, as it definitely can.

Not a bug. Dogmeat is your go-to partner if you want to be "the lone wanderer" in FO4. He's also the only partner not to criticize you over anything, can lug around 149.4 stones(?) and I find to be pretty good at pinning random ghouls. Also features kick ass neck biting animations on smaller animals. Essentially, the only reason you should be without a partner in FO4 is because you find they just get in the way of shooting things or moving, and Dogmeat does make an effort to move towards where you're looking.

Though it IS odd that Dogmeat getting struck won't contract the disease onto the player, but activating the protectron and having that get hit will. It's also possible it's just a low chance on Dogmeat because he's virtually impervious to everything the wasteland throws at him. Radiation pools ain't got nuthin' on this mutt. Either way, I went in without him while wearing power armor my first run. Power armor can let you take a hit and potentially avoid getting infected. It's a good idea to kill a few mole rats, check stats, then save if clean. Also, close every door behind you. Little bastards aren't smart enough to open doors, unlike Dogmeat...

The protectron thing might be a bug though.

Except they didn't make it clear you have any disease at all. I, the OP, and probably countless others didn't realize you had this until they saw it in the stat screen tens of hours later. Nobody mentions it, and there's no popup or anything. There is literally zero notification that you're infected with anything unless you just happen to see the tiny popup in the pipboy. Even if you tell the doctor you're keeping the cure, he accuses you of wanting to sell it rather than use it. I'd have let that kid die had I known. That was really a huge fail on Bethesda's part. I was so pissed off when I found out ten hours after the fact that I just gave myself the another cure with the command console. Screw that.

I also love how the doctor mentions that hopefully he can synthesize a new cure if it works on the boy, but of course, he never bothers nor can you even mention it later that your'e still suffering from that BS disease. >.> Like I said, absolute fail on Bethesda's part.

?? I just beat that level yesterday without getting the disease. It's very tricky as you need to keep checking your pip boy. But totally possible.
