Molotov cocktail

Do you guys think the molotov cocktail is going to be an issue? In every video i've seen if you're slightly close to the radius of the explosion you're instantly knocked down instead of dazed or slowed by it you completely drop do you see this as problem that eventually will be spam by players?

I'm guessing its the same range as regular grenades.

You can't spam grenades/molotovs, because they have a set countdown.

Also a knockdown allows you to shoot back or get up, so it's not too bad.

Kind of hard to spam it when it's on a 30 second timer. Apparently each grenade type has its own cooldown timer though, so you can toss a frag and then toss a molotov immediately afterwards. Also they take up a supply pip.

Yes, this is possible and has been shown in the most recent gameplay video.

ah, okay good to know. I was worried that you'd have a full team with it and they'd just be instantly knocking you down over and over, the cool down of 30 seconds is good to know unless you got some sort of team to all load up on it or is it specific to one type of skill?

Everything is looking balanced and polished. In a time when games are being released buggy, incomplete and reliant on patches, BRINK is going to be a much needed breath of fresh air. I'm hungry.

Molotovs are a class-specific ability only Soldiers can take.

And as usual with class-specific abilities, there's the cooldown AND they use supplies.

So you won't see a whole team of Soldiers grenade-spamming and actually winning the match, unless their opposing team is REALLY bad at the game.

And even if there is a whole team of really good soldiers nade spamming, they can't win...need other classes to complete objectives.

Well technically if you are on defense on container city (the resistance) and toundidnt even let the opposing team plant the bomb there is a very small possiblility that you could do it with all soldiers, very unlikely but still possible lol

Possibly, but they would be going up against a team that can buff its weapons, health, set turrets and landmines, disguise, and revive.

And good luck with that knockdown effect on a turret...

If the enemy team just approaches from 2 - 3 different directions at once, you won't be able to hit all of them with grenade/molotov spam and keep them down. As soon as they get smart and split up, the plan is broken.

I'll just wait until a group is moving thru a long narrow hallway before chucking my Molotov Cocktail

My wondering thoughts...
1) Do you only take damage from the blast?
2) Is there a DoT on it if your caught in the blast?
3) Does it apply an area DoT on the ground where it hit?
4) Is there a fire in the blast area for a short time?
5) Is it just a different version of a grenade, meaning all it does is hit with the blast only and there is no fire?
6) Why is my beer missing?

Hold up...Cocktails...Knockdown? Really? Lame. I don't know if any of you have actually thrown one of them but there's no shockwave or even concusion enough to knock down a person. You're more appt to catch on fire and fall down then be knocked down.

What gives SD?

On a similair subject...will there be a lasting burning/flame effect for the area you hit or the hit person?

Or will it be a lame cocktail where it just explodes (and knocks down I guess )

Depends how much petrol you add to the mix. The ones my dad used to beef up a near-death bonfire had some decent concussion (felt it from about 3m away).

Also... "catch on fire and fall down THEN be knocked down" - you said it, not me  (don't take this seriously. I'm just teasing)

In real life if a molotov was thrown at you, you'd be running around on fire screaming like a maniac, not just fall down.

If you mix enough fast-burning fuel in with the slower-burning stuff, it's more of a concussive effect, but with glass shards as shrapnel for added damage, and the flames burn out before there's really time to set you on fire.

It's more of a crowd control weapon. Which is fine imho. Atleast you have a chance of fighting back, even though you're in a disadvantageous spot.

So can anyone tell me what the difference is between a regular nade and the soldiers special pip-using Molotov cocktail? I mean having two nades to use back to back is cool but using a pip on another nade that is basically just a reg nade makes me go "meh." My first char is going to be a soldier/engy or an engy/ soldier so if the molotovs arent anything special i may make the engy/soldier combo.

We don't know specific differences. Molotovs probably have a wider or smaller knockdown effect than normal frags, paired with balanced damage, and possibly do DoT to targets as well (no confirmation either way, although videos make it look unlikely).

Both frags and molotovs will take 1 pip to use.

Molotov Coctail explodes on impact and in fact gives an instant knockdown to an enemy

 *Le Gasp*! KILL THE NAZI! :gun:

The first time I think I've actually seen a noteable differance and arguement between "then" and "than". Good find man. Now, I'd like you to come with me to Nuremberg :hehe:

1) From what i saw i would say yes.
2) No, From the videos Ive seen there is not any.
3) Dont know have not seen anyone run through it yet.
4) Dont know have not seen anyone run through it yet.
5) The way the videos show it yes that is exactly what it is but with a bigger AoE.
6) These guys stole it :foodndrink:
