I ran into the same problem too. Just keep giving her chems. She'll get out of that chair eventually...

She does sleep. At one point my PC slept in a house in our settlement with multiple beds, when he "woke up" Momma Murphy was lying in the bed he just used. Creeped me out!

In my experience, she sits in the chair until you've either used up all the "the Sight" visions by giving her chems, or when you make her kick her habit.

Mama Murphy is one crazy ol' bird! Dont ask me how it happened. But I came back to Settlement one time and found her on the roof of one of the houses! WITH NO VISIBLE WAY TO GET UP THERE! I actually had to build a ladder for her to come down. It's strange too, because I used TCL to get up there, and as I was clicking on her in building mode to get her to move she almost had this sad, scared "what the hell!" look on her face.

I also assigned Momma a task, so that may be why she doesn't just stand or sit around all day.

I had her standing on top of a roof as well, but also Preston Garvey. Usually fixed if you go away and come back after some time.

When I convinced her to give up the chems, she stopped sitting in her chair eventually and even started working on the walls of the workshop.

I actually like her in that chair. I put it in the living room/den of my character's old home, between the TV and the sofa as well as placed a table with a radio next to her. She looks so comfortable in that chair, in that old house. Now I just need to wire some power so it's not all dark.

I got annoyed at her sitting in her chair in a shack I was trying to scrap, so I shot her in the head a couple times and she got out of her chair long enough for me to block her access and move it. So yeah, if you wanna get her up, just shoot her a few times.

Problem solved. Im spending hours now in my base, building it. Raiders spawned out of nowhere inside [whitin the location borders], and Moma Murphy left her post, I got the chair and moved it, to a much better place I guess.

I put her chair in the corner also facing the corner LOL. She has been staring at the walls ever since. Well until I had to make a new save that is.. Because of a bug that doesn't let me walk or fast travel back to Sanctuary. 2nd time though I was nice enough to make a small table with a radio next to her chair. Her chair is also sitting so she can watch nothing on tv.

Ring the bell to gather the settlers and she will get up long enough to move the chair.

I needed to move her stupid chair from one of the old houses to the new bed bunk I had made and I got her to stand up by ringing the bell.

Hope that helps.

It's the chems. They give her 'the Sight'.
