Monday GI Hub Update! Discussion Thread #3

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 6:18 pm

Several people claimed to have read similar things about helping giants kill a mammoth, something that, as of now, is not in the article and collusion is very unlikely.

I read the article around 4 and the bits about the giants and soldiers were no where to be found. The part dreighton just posted is what I read. Was that bit in the article too about the priest and the wolves or is that what gi added when they took the other parts out?

you guys talking about this paragraph?

"Radiant Story doesn't limit these new missions to encounters in towns. Like in Fallout 3 and Red Dead Redemption, a lot of random events occur while you're exploring the wilderness as well. "There are a wide variety of these random encounters," says design director Bruce Nesmith. "Many of them are things the player can interact with, some are not. You might save a priest who then tells you about a dungeon where there are people trapped that need saving. You might run across mammoth beset by a pack of wolves."

Nope.
<- another who read about the giants tracking the mammoth.

And the other part about helping the soldiers fend off the dragon and "choosing to get involved" was apparently removed... Now why would they do that, its such trivial information!

Also, LostInSpace saved this quote:

"A gang of lumbering giants may ask for your assistance in tracking a wooly mammoth"

That's how I remember it as well.

I read that as well (about the giants and dragons). It appears we only have 24 hours to find out the source of this conspiracy and save the (now deleted?) information.

And does this mean we finally get talking creatures??? Talking goblins ftw. I wonder what language they speak.

I just hope they ask for forgiveness the most pathetic way possible, just before I behead them with my sword. I-HATE-GOBLINS.

On- Topic:  ....what else can be said?

If it's not actually in the game I would prefer them to confirm it as such.

Isn't the standard position that they should confirm what's in the game as apposed to needing to confirm what's not in the game?

I mean the fact that they edited it out kind haves me expecting I'm probably not going to help giants catch a mammoth, at least not that exact situation.

They talked about the tech and yet did not mention dx11. I think its a given we are stuck with dx9 otherwise they'd be gloating about it :sadvaultboy:

*edit* Anyway, sorry for clogging again the discussion. Better move on to snow physics and better trees.

Did the "200 years" bit that was edited out of the book description on all those websites without word or warning make you think "Oh, it probably won't take place 200 years after Oblivion"?

To move in a heavy, ponderous way.

summer is online, and watching. Beware, I'm not cheap

TES dragons are highly intelligent and do talk. The one in Redguard was pretty cool though he died like a punk lol. I always loved this story:

"Moraelyn asked with a smile, 'All right then, I've always wanted to know this - considering the shape of your mouth and teeth, how do dragons manage to speak the humanoid languages so clearly?'
Akatosh paused, and then carefully responded, 'Why, in much the same way that we can fly, even though our wings are not naturally strong enough to support such heavy torsos.'"

So then.... we saw mammoths in the concept art, they must have slipped info about giants. We can help giants -> we can talk to giants -> giants have towns? -> Giants have their own faction?

I have no idea what timezone you are in, but if you are Eastern then you read the article 3 hours after it was posted. As stated before, they changed it pretty quickly. It does not take 3 hours to cut one piece out of an article.

Ditto, I remember reading this in the article as well because, when I first learned about that giants would be in the game I immediately assumed that they would be enemies. So it really stuck in my head.

Rofl, that's a brilliant quote.

EDIT:

Snow on different objects will be awesome. I presume it's still a shader then, just an intelligent one, as apposed to particles of snow?? I mean if i hit the branch with my sword, would the snow fall of??

Also, does this mean we get rain that doesn't go through roofs?? :celebration:

Choosing to help leads me to believe there may be a choice of joining the dragons, that leading me to believe we may have different possible endings, which tes might not what people to know or start guessing about. Not sure though. It could just mean choose to help the soldiers or run like hell itself was behind you cause you want to live.

I'm in eastern time zone. What I meant was when the article was first posted did it mention the random quests about helping the priest and then the part about the mammoth besets the wolves? Did they add that part when the removed the part about giants or did the original article include both?

Just like the 200 years later in the book example though, by removing the info only makes us speculate that much harder! >,<

And they replaced the giants/mammoth part with the wolves and priest. I hadnt read anything about a priest in the original.
