Monday GI Hub Update! Discussion Thread #3

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 10:21 am

I'm in eastern time zone. What I meant was when the article was first posted did it mention the random quests about helping the priest and then the part about the mammoth besets the wolves? Did they add that part when the removed the part about giants or did the original article include both?

I can't speak for that, I was not an original witness to the article before it was edited. I assume they only removed that one bit.

Choosing to help leads me to believe there may be a choice of joining the dragons, that leading me to believe we may have different possible endings, which tes might not what people to know or start guessing about. Not sure though. It could just mean choose to help the soldiers or run like hell itself was behind you cause you want to live.

Yes. I think they meant you could help the soldiers kill the dragon, not help the dragon kill the soldiers :P

I seem to remember the article said hunstmen though. Could have been soldiers, not sure

TES dragons are highly intelligent and do talk. The one in Redguard was pretty cool though he died like a punk lol. I always loved this story:

I don't remember it being there, no, but then again I missed the bit about spider webs the first time round.

This update on the hub made all my expectations get destroyed it really seems bethesda have upped the bar once more and setting a new standard for western RPG's. The graphics look amazing, the A.I sounds impressive better animations and much more. It is a dream come true and sitting here playing Oblivion, I look to the screenshots of Skyrim and go.....if only.

That reminds me of the Discworld novel in which Terry Pratchett writes about dragons (the "Colour of Magic" and "Guards! Guards!" I think). Apparently they're sustained solely by the power of magic and imagination. :P

And I'm greatly looking forward to the new responsive weather too. Snow drifts? Yes please. Rain running off roofs? I wouldn't object. Lightning storms that are dangerous to burly men wandering around mountaintops in plate armour? I can hope.

Just like the 200 years later in the book example though, by removing the info only makes us speculate that much harder! >,<

And they replaced the giants/mammoth part with the wolves and priest. I hadnt read anything about a priest in the original.

Yeah, and going from past experience, 200 years turned out to be right. Anyways, since it was CHANGED I'm starting to become less suspicious. It felt implied that you guys read something that was no longer there, especially when someone asked "Why would gameinformer make something up?". It seems more likely to me it was just a misquote.

The ones in WoW are intelligent (they often take on the form of humans) and can talk. Its really cool so im hoping its similar in skyrim.

To move in a heavy, ponderous way.

Edit: Too slow! :ninja:

Would you say you lumbered the answer?! Zing!

Ahh that doesn't even make sense :ahhh:

Anyway....... Anyone else going to try and get up on that waterfall on the upper right corner and jump off? :P

Yup. One very beautiful dragon is imagined by Twoflowers, the other by some crazy royalist.

What's the dragon going to do though? Dx Its a smart thing. If I kill the people it's fighting, why would it also want to kill me? Maybe if it were hungry...but Its a smart dragon. It shouldn't kill people helping it.

Speculate as hard as you can then! Make them regret it. xD Not sure why they would really. Just throwing a guess out.

Also, does this mean we get rain that doesn't go through roofs?? :celebration:

Almost assuredly.

I don't think TES will be accused of copying if they have sentient, talking dragons. Even shapeshifting ones. I've read a few books that incorporate those.

About the apparent edits in the article: Who cares? Wasn't anything exciting that has been taken out, I mean if dragons fly around, they're gonna attack mammoths, sure, we guessed so.

Assisting Giants isn't exciting?

I was thinking the same exact thing haha! Doesn't it look like there is a doorway or entrance up there too?

I have a wonderful idea.

To the OP; submit a ticket asking for the description of the topic to be changed to "Including the information removed by GI", and see if they oblige :P

Yeah they already look different and have different lore, even if both shapeshift I dont think it'll be a problem. Also wow dragons speak your language, and tes ones have their own if im not mistaken,.

They talked about the tech and yet did not mention dx11. I think its a given we are stuck with dx9 otherwise they'd be gloating about it :sadvaultboy:

*whimper*

I sure hope not.

To leave it out of this game just makes no sense to me! They have updated everything else, just to leave the newest DX out? BAH! I wont stand for it I tells ya! :swear:

I'd rather them just use OpenGL... Screw DirectX.

If this game looks as beautiful as it does with only DX9, it's a testament to Bethesda's skills.

Wasn't shapeshifting one of the theories, along with invisibility, for how the dragons have remained hidden all this time? I swear I read that somewhere...
