"...but Bethesda Studios has also developed and contracted a suite of technological tools that allow the team to reach far beyond anything they've done before."
I think this may imply Bethesda has more than just Havok physics and Havok Behavior as middlewares, but we'll see.
GI's writing isn't something that really holds up to dissection... As seen in the magazine they are rather hyperbolic.
You're also violating the rules of distribution.
..but Bethesda Studios has also developed and contracted a suite of technological tools that allow the team to reach far beyond anything they've done before.
What has Bethesda done? Developed and contracted.
Developed and contracted what? A suite.
A suite of what? Technological tools.
Joking aside, I think middleware is almost always a bad thing. It lets you get stuff done faster, but maybe not how you wanted. Save for extremely complicated things of course, like physics. But I've always preferred the DIY, from scratch method. Hell, I'm learning DirectX programming (was already a programmer otherwise, at least) just to toy with writing my own engines.
