Monday GI Hub Update!

Post » Thu Mar 17, 2011 10:45 am

You know what bothers me about this "advance" AI doing things on their own again. That will mean we will have the hand held compass again. Yes I know in the screen shots the HUD was off, but I have a feeling this may change and it will have to be left on so we can see where this "advanced AI" goes if we can't find them.

I do hope they leave the HUD to be off, even better, since I like the HUD on, and the the compass, but to turn the quest locators off. Why we can't have this? Guess just lazy programming. But yeah I am looking forward to the better AI, because I tried to be a "spy" or "thief" to see what the AI does and found it very boring, since all they did was just walk A to B to C. I hope this is not the case for Skyrim.

I think they said that HUD was completely removed from the game. I dunno how they will handle it.

Weapon skills are reduced to one-handed and two-handed? :(

Reduced? Oblivion had 2 melee weapon skills, so there would be no reduction, only rearrangement. Unless you thought they got rid of marksman (they didn't).

Still the same number.

One handed and two handed instead of blade and blunt.

I'm 100% sure that marksman is still its own skill.

Ok, I have to go change my boxers. :whistling:

That was the best of the bunch so far for me! What I read, well, got me damned excited! I almost regret reading it now seeing it just made the time left feel twice as long in a flash. :ahhh:

Thank you Bethesda for what sounds to be a superb new system.

yah, who's the feller who keeps having his tweets answered? Let's get him back up in here!

What we didn't know from the article I am happy to learn, at least in conjunction with the other stuff. having one and two handed weapon skills wouldn't be cool on its own, but with perks it may well work even better than the old ways did.

One handed/two handed is pretty much same thing as blade/blunt. Two skills just renamed.

Seems pretty awesome, but I won't be truly impressed until I see a main character walk down the stairs like a normal person.

hmm that just got me to thinking. The only way to achieve this would be to force PCs to move at an appropriate speed. Does anyone think BGS will implement this?

Perks could have you specialize in Swords, daggers, axes, ect.

How is that related?

Because perks will be how you specialize within your weapon. For instance, if you have 100 one handed skill. But have taken all perks in dagger but none in mace. You will be far better with a dagger than you will a mace. It is directly related.

And I think having 1 handed and 2 handed skills makes more sense than blade and blunt, considering blade in Oblivion would cover both claymores and daggers.

Fair point, and this does mean that they can include spears and other things as well. Nevermind, I take that back.

Hoped to hear something about (clothing) physics and dx11 support when they tackle the engine.
Nice read though, including the screenshot.

I hope they use the Havok Behaviour stuff for emotions and gestures as well.

The best thing for me is that I can barge into my friend's bedroom in the middle of the night and she'll ask me to stay :hubbahubba:

it answered a few questions that were prevalent on the forums for a while.

if you kill a shopkeeper and his sister takes over she will remember what you did and might exact revenge. (this is good for obvious reasons)

according to Todd there are shadows in everything and real time lighting (these were sticking points with me since no game today should not have those)

third person seems to be improved ( i use first exclusively but ive seen a few threads on third person)

he didnt answer about mounts. im thinking either they are currently trying to work it in but havent decided if its good enough or they are trying out different methods and havent picked the final one yet.

overall im very pleased. at this point the only mod that i will definitely need is one that lowers the view distance like streamline did for oblivion...............its a personal preference because ti makes the game world much bigger to me.

im really starting to look forward to skyrim now. :)

Is that a statute of a duck or something of the kind in the pic? Check it out at the bottom of the steps next to the door to that ruin or whatever it is. it also looks like there's entrances/exits scattered everywhere. Look up on top by the waterfalls and I see what looks like a door/entrance. Wonder if we can survive a fall from the top of that cliff where the waterfall starts? Or at least to that first ledge where that entrance is.

Good info but, I really want to see an INGAME image. That′s a render. When I see a video, I will talk about graphics, because it being multiplatform worries me.

On the other hand I like the info, but nothing new is said.

I really want info concerning the quest markers and attributes.

Yep, animations would be the only limitating factor in including any imaginable weapon type, since they needn't fit into the relatively narrow categories of weapon skills. I like the idea of one-handed/two-handed categories.

Where exactly did we get confirmation of this? I thought that was just the popular theory.

Someone is going to poop their pants when they find out that isnt a render, its in game. Multiplatform worries me to and a lot of people. All we can do is hope for the best.

The original GI article mentioned that if one used axes that one's one handed weapon skill would increase. It was then deduced that if there was a one-handed weapon skill, that there was an accompanying two handed weapon skill.
