Monetizing Morrowind videos?

Post » Sat Oct 12, 2013 12:47 am

Hello.

Maybe someone can help me regarding this topic. I'm trying to monetize my Youtube channel, which features videos of a Morrowind play-through.

Recently I received a copyright violation for posting a video of Morrowind and was asked to provide a link to the terms that allow me to monetize Morrowind videos.

I couldn't find these terms so I tried to claim Fair Use because my commentary was educational/instructional. This didn't work and the video was unmonetized.

So, any ideas of how I can solve this? Does Bethesda allow monetization of their games? Seems like everyone monetizes Skyrim videos these days without issue, so I'm wondering what the problem is with one of their oldest games, Morrowind.

Any ideas?

I don't think this has anything to do with Bethesda. It's between you and YouTube.
I believe you have to be a partner with YouTube to make any profit from your videos. You'll also need a lot of views and/or subscribers before you'll see a single dollar.

Contact YouTube and ask them.

I was dealing with Youtube on this issue, but they asked me specifically to link them to Bethesda's terms of use for monetization, which I couldn't find.

Without those terms, I'm afraid I'm out of luck. They pulled the video from monetization.

Just a weird situation. They targeted that one specific video and left the others alone. It wouldn't be such a big deal if these violations didn't act as strikes against my account. If I have enough of these videos pulled my whole account will be disabled. Bummer.

I guess I'll contact Youtube and see what they have to say. Thanks for the response.

I know some videos get pulled if they have cut-scenes or certain music.

But, yeah, people do this with Skyrim all the time, so it seems odd.
From what I've seen, YouTube is pretty unorganized, random, and has sloppy management... so I wouldn't expect a straight answer from them.
