OK, so I figured I would register to see if we can actually solve the problem that everyone in the forum is so upset about. Several other posts cover the various issues in detail so I won't go into depth. The largest problem, so far as I see it, is that you can now only get legendary items from lunch boxes. A lot of users are understandably upset after grinding away to max out their dwellers' stats only to find that when they send them out into the wasteland (regardless of the 25 dweller cap) it is impossible for them to find anything above a plasma rifle.
Now, let's confront the obvious elephant in the room. Users have no incentive to spend any real money if there is a reasonable legendary drop rate in the wasteland. Whether they want to admit it or not (and the silence pretty much says it all) Bethesda deliberately removed the legendary drops so as to get users to buy lunchboxes and thus generate more revenue from the game. As a developer myself, I have no issues with a publisher trying to extract some cash from their software, especially when it's a great game (as this obviously must be to have such a following). What we need is a way for both parties to be satisfied. We need a mechanism that will allow users to achieve a complete legendary collection, while allowing Bethesda to maintain their revenue stream.
I'm open to anything that achieves that goal and I'm sure the users here will have even better ideas that I do but as I started this topic I'll throw out my best suggestion. Give all Mr Handys (or create another purchasable unity like Mr Handy) a passive ability "boosts wasteland legendary drop rate). I would suggest that dwellers still need to be out past 3-4 days in the wasteland before having a chance to get a legendary so as to reward users that went to the trouble of maxing out dweller stats. This would be a very simple change (not even the need for any new units, mechanics or rooms) and directly reward users with legendary drops in exchange for cash while not breaking the mechanics of the game.
OK, like I said, I'm sure everyone else has a bunch more ideas that solve this problem. No doubt the wonderful devs at Bethesda can come up with a few ideas themselves. I hope that someone with the power to make a few changes gets around to reading this thread and any others with realistic suggestions to make everyone happy so that we can all get back to wasting (cough... investing) our time and money into this game.
