2 months since FO4 announcement... no official press since

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 11:06 am

Ok... so it is now a bit over 2 months since Bethesda showed the big release demo at E3.

Since then, they have shown some additional gameplay to only a select group of people who were able to attend either Quakecon or Gamescom, along with the same footage shown to press (i.e. IGN).

From what I understand about this additional demo is that it shows one of a series of videos that are used to help describe SPECIAL along with about 20 minutes of additional gameplay with the protagonist.

So, what do you think? Is Bethesda holding onto this additional piece of gameplay because it will be the ONLY additional gameplay footage we will see prior to release? If so, how much longer do you think they will hold onto it (being that there is basically 3 months left until release).

In relation to that, when and how do you think they will release these videos related to SPECIAL? all at once, staggered, perhaps not even until release?

Finally, do you think there will be any kind of release of the perks poster... or is that just hope beyond hope to think it might be out before release?

From IGN's write up today by Tristan Ogilvie it is clear they don't want to release any additional story plot (and to be honest, I don't want them to). That interview though is just a re-hash of basically what we already knew from hearing about Quakecon or Gamescom. It really isn't 'news' in my opinion... which Tristan actually seems to infer in his story.

Really interested in your opinion on how you might have done this if you were responsible for the marketing of this game.

Im sure quakecon/gamescom will pop up next month, that way it land slab dab in between how many months its been since E3 and how many months it is before launch.

As for the special videos, my latest hunch say 1 per week, last 7 weeks before launch.

And the chart? Nope I doubt we will see it before launch (tho the impresion I got is that the special videos will list the perks connected to that stat)

That's just smart. The more you tell, the more people will misinterpret it, and the more they'll complain when the release is not what they expected :hehe:

And BGS has been tight lipped for quite a while now.

Maybe spelling it as S.P.E.C.I.A.L makes it clearer.

To be honest? I remember a time before Youtube and streaming media, and yes I'm being the old man in the room.

I remember a time when we'd get a blurb in a magazine and a release date, and that was all we'd get until the day of reckoning. Every so often, you'd get a smaller blurb in a magazine in between, but normally back then, there was nothing else between then and the review article and the release.

I already know I'm getting the game, which means I've gotten what I wanted and need...The release date and the little teaser to give me a look at what's coming. Personally, I'm satisfied with that.

It was a simpler time, for a simpler age. Before the Dark Times.

I think it's fine that we aren't getting news right now because after Pax Prime the Dev Diaries should start poping up and those should last until the middle of October. I know I'm going to go dark right around Nov 1st. I'll check review scores but nothing else. :fallout:

Oh my aching back, that's the new generation of gamer. Instant gratification no matter what it is, whether it's game info or the game itself or game changes or this that or the other. They have zero patience of these days...

I'm a little ticked that the lasted issue of PC Gamer had nothing about the game in it (yes I still have hard copy sub).

I just want the system requirements for PC. They can be as stingy as they want with everything else, but I'm not pre-ordering until I feel comfortable about the requirements and recommended stats.

They might be saving all their pre-game hyping until a month a way from release. I wonder if they're going to do the special videos every week with the last one right before the game comes out. Either way the game comes out in less that three months so i can wait that long without any more marketing (although the system specs would be nice to know)

This. I think it's important for PC users to get this as soon as possible. Even before pre-orders go up. I wonder how many PC players did not pre order the pipboy edition because they were unsure if their PC would run the game. I'm not too concerned this time around because it's new PC time for me and I plan to purchase that in Oct. But FO:NV and Skyrim were both concerns for me in that regard and I'm sure many are in that time when their machines are getting more iffy. Some may even need to upgrade a bit but want to wait for the requirements to come out.

As for information about the game. I'm actually hoping we hear almost nothing about it. I think it would be quite fun to have a release where we find most everything about the game when we actually play it. Less spoilers, less pre-conceived notions about how it will work or not work. Less grumbling about the small intricacies of the game and more first look individual opinions of the game.

I do believe however as the release approaches we will see TV ads and a few more interviews. I just hope for less details this time around and a "see for yourself when you play" approach.

Because no matter if they give us details or not, I will play this game.

I would not expect the PC requirements until c. 20th October.

Both Skyrim and Fallout 3 specs were released less than 3 weeks pre-launch.

The last time Beth had a showing of the game to the fan base, some overly ambitious @$$hat decided to violate their trust. And ended up posting it on pormhub of all seedy places

If you were Todd Howard, would you ever have reason to trust the fan base again?

Will it kill you to wait until the game is officially released?

What's the reason for the blue ball syndrome angst here? Seriously? :D

That's disappointing, but if I get the PC vesion, it will be through Steam, so I guess I can wait.

Lol no you're not. I also have fond--albeit dim-- memories of those days. Heading out to B&N to browse the gaming mags for new PC games. Ahh those good ole days. :D

Skyrim was Hyperim.. sorry but it was..

"We have dragons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" got old pretty fast..

PC players do need to know.. Lots of people will not order till they tell..

I suspect they will not tell until the last possible moment..

I could have had that phone case.. I do not want it..

I would have bought an Xbox 1 if I could also mod Skyrim (texture faces) and Oblivion (texture faces)

Thankfully Gstaff set that straight..

I play on ps4.. I wait to see what it looks like after it is released.

I jumped right in with The Witcher 3.. That was a mistake for me..

I wait now..

I would like to see more game play and more character customisation for the female.

I doubt that will happen though..

I am glad it is not turning out to be Hypeout.. -shrug

Sorry Mr Howard but.. gameplay without you talking..

-edit-

Oh and while we're talking.. People will buy your game because they love your company..

Smiles..

Lol, me too, mate =) Little to no notice on that Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards, rofl.

I'm actually glad they haven't released anything else. I have plenty to know that it'll be an awesome game and I will be playing it. As much as I'd like to know more, I'm happy to wait for this gem an experience it all first hand.

As for extra details released at Cons, I think it's perfectly fine that a few dedicated souls get additional information when they want it so bad that they go to these things. Nothing wrong with that. The rest of us will just have to wait.

Why are people caring so much about PC requirements? If you're going to upgrade your computer upgrade your computer. It really doesn't make a difference what the specs are. You don't need fo4 as your gauge to upgrade.

Yes you do. The latest game development is what dictates your upgrades, basically. And new videocards are expensive, as is the potentially new processor you'll need to run it, and the potentially new motherboard you'll need to accommodate your new processor, and on and on it goes.

I just ran across this gem indicating we won't get much more info on the game before launch.

As long as you have a fairly recent generation setup you'll be fine. You do not need the latest CPU/GPU to play this game at reasonable performance. Love when people fall into this trap. If you're going to be pushing the moddeing envelope then having a better then average system is a must.

If you're running a gtx-6xx or equally [censored] AMD with a potato cpu the yes upgrade. But you do not need a games specs to upgrade or build a new gaming rig. Anyone with a brain can goto newegg pick out some parts of recent vintage and have a rig that'll run games for a couple years.

And honestly just save your money...You'll have plenty of time to get a better rig before the game releases.
