Greetings, I have posted above here, some links to photos and an oldish thread made by waalx for some Morag Tong armor for Oblvion, as well as the original concept art for Morrowind. Besides the fact that it was never released, I sincerely doubt that waalx would ever give the permission to downgrade it to Morrowind.

So I ask someone else to take up the cause, and make a set of Morag Tong Armor to be released seperately by its maker, and to be featured in an upcoming mod of my own.

Anyone up to the challenge?

Do want. I wish I could even understand blender. Then one day I might aspire to making something like that.

Is this for your companion mod, BH?

Try J-ninja + Morag Tong Armor Replacer (J-ninja add-on).

You state that "I sincerely doubt that waalx would ever give the permission to downgrade it to Morrowind." But then you ask someone to do it anyway. This being the Morrowind Mods forum, I assume that you're not asking someone to complete his work for Oblivion. Are you a [censored], or what? You specifically mention that the author wouldn't want someone adapting his work to MW (which, btw, I find to be a questionable assumption), but then you ask for someone else to go against the author's wishes? WTF?

Also, a move from Oblivion to Morrowind is an upgrade, not a "downgrade".

I don't think he's asking for someone to adapt waalx's work, but rather for someone to look at the various examples and make a Morag Tong armour set for Morrowind.

Personally, I think the shoulders on that example are huge, but that's me...

Personally, I would like to see that armor in MW.

Yeah i agree. The pauldrons and cuirass look to unreal for an assassin..it would only hinder them and
they would get killed quickly i think.

Also the metal on the boots should be less or at least placed higher. They way i see it on those
pictures is that when they need to jump with those boots, they will likely break some bones in
their feet.

Just do a little work on the cuirass and pauldrons, and just a bit of work on the boots and it'll be more suited for an assassin.

I could flame you back, but then again, I don't really want to humiliate you more then you already have yourself. IF I wanted to convert it, AND had the permission, AND IF the models were even released yet, I very well could, as I already have two mods out that in which I used that technique. And the authors work is based on an original MW concept art, of which I posted a photo, and I simply posted the photos of his work to show the guidelines of what I'm looking for, as its very helpful to modellers if they have a visual to work with

And the 'authors wishes' are irrelevant in this matter, as I am asking for an original model or a readapted existing one to look SOMETHING like that. And stating "I doubt he would ever give permission to release it" means 'I can't convert it, or make it myself, would someone else please make it'.

Think before you post.

You know, thats a great idea.

Although only slightly related, I also found some other art that I think would look amazing; indoril armor once had a chance to look like THIS: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Image:MW-concept-indoril.jpg

I always like the concept art of bethesda...

Thing is though, we have no idea if it was ever finished. As long as you gave waalx credit for the original concept work and made the meshes and textures yourself, you wouldn't have any problems. And it would go against his wishes to not convert it if you made everything yourself. Not to mention that if you want to use it in Morrowind, drop the Oblivion meshes and textures and either make something new, or add Bethesda stock meshes and makes your own textures.

However, I agree with you on converting anything from Oblivion to Morrowind is and upgrade, but for the sake of keeping arguements to a minimum, refer to it as a conversion.

Hmm... I don't believe that I flamed you or humiliated myself by pointing out the inconsistency in your post. I still don't quite understand exactly what you're trying to say, and you might be more sensitive to criticism than I am, so I'll just let it be. Btw, I don't appreciate threatening PMs. You are welcome to involve a moderator if you feel that wronged.

Being spoiled with an almost completely high-res, bump-mapped game I like this sort of armor over "normal looking" ones as they fit better. I've been hoping a lot of the armors would be converted over by now, but it's obvious there's more interest overall in Oblivion.

Perhaps I was too harsh before. Let me rephrase:

By posting an image of waalx's work, you virtually insure that any models created in response to your request will be derivative of his work. Yet, you also state that you believe that the author wouldn't approve of Morrowind derivatives. Intentional or otherwise, I see this as a lack of ethical integrity (saying one thing but doing another).

That is the meat of my complaint. However, as I said before, I doubt that waalx would care much, so it's a bit pointless to draw this issue out. As something of a peace offering, here's a bit of possible help in regards to adapting the original MW concept art:

It might be easier to recruit someone to edit the meshes rather than create all-new ones. The cuirass exists in-game as a robe (Grandmaster, and others, if I recall). The robe mesh might be adapted to form a cuirass mesh. The robe has no sash/duster but is otherwise a close match. The pauldrons look similar to the lower part of the Indoril pauldrons. Again, an edited (and retextured) mesh might produce acceptable results. The in-game Morag Tong helmet looks similiar enough that a simple retexture might suffice.

I have provided no debatable topic, produced no work of art nor literature. I have done nothing more than post a request. There is no basis for criticism of any kind, at least not towards myself.

Are you a [censored], or what?

And I made no threats in the PM, I specifically told you that you misinterpreted my post, I then explained that I was offended by your mannerisms, which are very consistent throughout all of your posts in other forums, so I won't accept the statement that you were having a bad day. I then told you to leave me alone, and to not post in my threads, or I would get a moderator involved. Since you could not simply do that, a PM has been sent.

I love doing come backs like this. Getting back at someone in a smart and respectful way yet still insulting at the same time. :D

Closed because nobody in this thread followed the rules.

You do not propose working on somebody else's mod without the consent of the original modder.

You do not take offense when somebody calls you on that.

You do not argue over the constructive criticism rule.

Moderators will suspend any members who continue to disrupt the forums that way.
