Morag Tong in Skyrim

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:37 pm

With the fall of the Empire, and the destruction and foreign invasion of much of Morrowind, are the Morag Tong still operating in the Fourth Era?

I would like to see them in Skyrim, seeping in from Morrowind, as a rival faction to the dark brotherhood. They have always been mortal enemies but there hasn't been a game where you can join either faction.

MORAG TONG, DAMMIT. Honestly, we need that again! "You just killed him". "Yup, I have papers". "Alright".

Can there be an "I'd join both if I could" option?

No. It's one or the other. I don't want to be able to be the Grandmaster of the Morag Tong and the Dark Brotherhood.

It'd vastly increase re playability if you can only pick one, especially if it has unique consequences and rewards

Morag Tong, I celebrate murder in the name of Mephala. The Dark Brotherhood are just a pathetic cult trying to be somebodies.

Wprds can not describe how satisfying that is.

"Oh my god, you just murdered that man in cold blood, the brutality of this slaughter is mindblowing!"
"You monster, how could you!"
"Get a rope, hang him!"
"Hey, easy man, I've got this paper here that says it's cool..."
"Oh...well alright then, have a nice day sir."

Having both factions would bea dream come true, my character would join them both and try playing them against each other :P Allthough, having to choose is more realistic and does increase replay value, so I'd pick Morag Tong over the Dark Bros any day.

I wish the Morag Tong could appear, but they were really a Morrowind only faction; they can only legally operate in Morrowind. I'd like to have a whole new assassins faction, because the Dark Brotherhood was just silly.

Morag Tong would probably have survived. They've survived for thousands of years, I doubt this would stop them.

I prefer the Morag Tong. The DB is more "killing for the sake of killing", filled with sadistic murderers. The Morag Tong, on the other hand, is very honor-bound and proud. It would be nice to have the option, however. Each faction suits different kinds of characters. The DB fits the cold, remorseless murderer, while the Morag Tong fits the honorable lawful-good types of assassins. It would have to be a Great House kind of thing, where you can't join both.

I'd say the Morag Tong fits mercenaries who see the immunity to persecution as a bonus as well really, not necessarily "good" people. The character I have in mind for my first playthrough would honestly be just as comfortable in both groups without him really being evil.

They only legally operated in Morrowind when the Empire controlled the land. Now the empire is crumbling, and the Argonians have taken much of Morrowind so who knows where the Morag Tong has gone.

I would say can't join both, although if you could, it would be highly risky. maybe you want to infiltrate the other.
I still think the Morag Tong was awesome, but would have to adapt to the current political setting.
...and Mephala could lure followers under a different banner...perhaps something more ritualistic.

Very true. At the very least, the Morag Tong as we knew it in Morrowind won't reappear.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you infiltrate the thieves guild for the Morag Tong in Morrowind? The same could easily be done with the brotherhood, and possibly allowing you to play them against each other and look out for your own interests as well.

Maybe part of both guilds could be infiltrating the other for a short time. It seems more like something the DB would do though.

i think the dark brotherhood is more likely to be around. They were much more low key and the marong tong was all out in public. the dark brotherhood shuld not be effected as much by politics and conflicts

I'd want neither tbh. Of course there should be murder-quests, since this is set in war time, but those should be given by political figures themselves, and should be rare. The Morag Tong probably isn't doing so well since the infernal city, and perhaps the dark brotherood also suffered under the years without empire. On the other hand, these were years in which executions were probably not rare, so I'd not be surprised if it was still around.

I would join neither. I don't do those kinds of quests in games. I hope they have rival guilds, for example a more goodly faction that is dedicated to fighting a guild like those in Skyrim. Obviously a dark organization like those would have quests to target the more goodly organization.

I like the Morag Tong more than the Dark Brotherhood, both may have survived to live on in Skyrim. The Morag Tong would most likely have changed quite much though.

Maybe adding a new assassin faction is appropriate?
