Moral choices should= assassins trying to kill you

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 10:01 am

If your a bad person and make bad moral choices you should have people come and try to kill you. Like if your an evil guy who kills innocent people. Rightous knights should try to hunt you down or hired bandits should hunt you down if your good. I would love to be walking along in the forest and i see a group of crusaders riding towards me. So i string my bow and shoot them off their horses.

Best bit of FO3. Get attacked by Talon, butcher them, take their armour, repair Reilly's Ranger armour. See, being a good guy does pay.

I'm not really for the whole "Fame is high therefor assassins try to kill me" And "Infamy is high so good guys come and kill me" I would much rather bounty hunters come after you if you have a high enough bounty. Not because I make good guy or bad guy decisions.

Ranger for life.

Yes, I like this idea. Instead of always being on the offensive, have the enemy take the quarrel to us.
Spoiler
They would have to be more unpredictable than Talon Co. though. It didn't take long to figure out where the encounters were likely to take place.

Sorry about that. :sadvaultboy:

I agree with you. It seems like morality in games is always black and white so it applies to the good/bad slider that represents the players morality. I would prefer to never know what the mission designer thinks is good and go with what I think is right/wrong.

In one of the GI hub updates they talked about NPC's that like you enough asking you to assassinate people for them. Maybe it'll work the other way around too.

You should have popped up a spoiler tag on the Fallout stuff. I just bought that game on Sunday and have avoided the FO3 forum like the plague.

Things aren't really so black and white as assassins showing up because you're a bad person. By that logic assassins themselves are morally corrupt and should constantly be under attack by assassins. Perhaps you mean something more like bounty hunters if you keep a bounty?

In most situations that aren't clearly black and white, doing what is right is often as dangerous and offensive to one party as doing the wrong thing. In fact, doing things wrong may often be easier and more rewarding than doing the right thing.

Also, keep in mind that doing things that are morally wrong that no one else sees or could know about should generally not have any outside consequences.

To be fair it's been out for two and a half years. Can't really complain about people spoiling it if you're just now getting to it

In Daggerfall, if you were a Werewolf/Wereboar/Vampire groups of Mercenaries should come after you randomly.

I hope this this is the case in Skyrim, in addition to people hunting you if you have a bounty on your head.

I like the idea of getting a prize money on your head if you have done something horrible. But bandits trying to kill you just because you are nice seems stupid. I don't think bandits gives a [censored]. If you are a rich [censored] they will try to steal your money. If you are a broke good-samaritan on the other hand, there's no point in taking unnecessary risks.

It shouldn't be based on morals. It should be based on what side you choose, or who you align yourself with. You kill a town that is on once side of the conflict, one side may pay people to kill you, while the other may pay money just to talk to you and entice you to do so more.

Kinda similar to the Regulators and "Talon Company" in Fallout 3. Only if it involves a certain choice you make with a quest like a person is jealous because you recovered X Artifact to certain individual.

Hopefully if they have something like this, there will be a reason within the story. I don't want anything arbitrary either.

There is no objective good and evil in TES. It is a multicultural, multiracial world with vasty diverging religious and ethic beliefs. Also, you would have trouble dealing with crimes that noone finds out about. So, no.

If you are a vampire/werewolf it makes sense for witchunters to come after you since you are a menace to the locals. For a well known criminal also makes sense for bounty hunters or special groups of guards to come after you as well. It would also make sense for factions opposing your own (if any such exist) to send assasins after you.

Yea I just think that if you are going against what a certain party is trying to do, that that party should send people after you. That way, you can be a good guy, but people will still come after you because you are getting in the way of their plans. It shouldn't happen after like 1 or 2 quests, but if you interfere enough, and you expose yourself to the other party so that they know who you are, they should try to take you out.

Also, for the infamy thing, I like the idea of people coming after you for being a horrible person. However, it should be in the form of bounty hunters, and not just knights coming after you because they magically know who you are. But if you do something bad enough, and you are seen doing it, then a bounty should be put on your head, and bounty hunters should come after you.

But for that to work, they'd have to overhaul the entire crime recognition system, which I don't know if they're doing that.

Well lets just say you step on the wrong crooked nobleman's toes when trying to correct his misdeeds.

He might have enough money and power to take you out of the picture.

Sure as long as I don't get attacked every time I leave a city. Also there should be this sort of premise for good characters too. Do so much good and kill lots of bandits then you'll have criminal organizations coming after you. Maybe some bandits you killed were skooma smugglers so the leader sends some guys after you.

I don't care much about fame/infamy resulting in you being hunted, but where I would like to see it implemented is:
1) Bounty Hunters - as many have said, pretty straightforward
2) Thieves - If you have a lot of money someone might attack you in your sleep trying to steal your stuff. If you keep all your valuables in a house you should consider purchasing locks and eventually guards as word will spread about how much stuff is in the house
3) Mythic Dawn Sleeper Agent Equivalents - If it fits in with the main quest, for instance if there is a cult of crazy people supporting Alduin, then once you've established yourself as his clear opposition, they will hunt you. Just like in Oblivion when the sleeper agents would attack you
