Moral Restrictions

Post » Thu Sep 19, 2013 8:46 am

Morals. How much do they affect your gameplay? What restricts you? How many of your morals are caried into the game? For instance, here are my restrictions:

No werewolves

No Vampires

No Daedric Quests

No Magic (Restoration exception)

No Necromancy in any way (standing stones, etc.)

No murder/assasination

No theft

No betrayal

These are a few I can remember. Also, if there was the option to turn the blood setting down, it would be off. So if you wish, share your restrictions I apreciate any responses.

Everything you mentioned, I'm the exact direct opposite. But thats only because I enjoy playing evil characters.

Do you spend your time polishing your halo?

I have no restrictions really. I'm playing a game, I can be as good or as bad as the mood takes me. :D

No restrictions here. I switch it up between characters, some are good, some not so good in terms of morality, but I don't take my real-life morality into the game.

I couldn't place those kinds of restrictions on any of my characters. I would have nothing to do.For me, it's not about what "I" consider to be morally subjective, it's how my character views it.

I heavily roleplay all of my characters. That means each one is unique from the next and are executed around their specific personality profile. They are not extensions of myself, nor do I live vicariously through them. Every action, dialog choice, accepted quest and direction they start to walk, is all centered around them and them alone. The less influence I bestow upon them the better.

Do you read books where the main character does bad things?

Do you watch movies with Vampires and / or Werewolves as the main character?

I see no reason to answer those questions any differently or look upon them as I do the game.

I see your moral code allows double standards.

Btw, standing stones have nothing to do with necromancy.

Each of my characters has a different perception of morality. I played an assassin who despised necromancy because she believed that boundaries between life and death are sacred. I played a law upholder whose clear vision of right and wrong slowly deteriorated over the course of the game. I have a hard time playing a completely 'good' character, especially in a game where most quests involve killing people.

I missed that little jewel.

How does one relate standing stones to Necromancy, in the first place?

Most of my characters don't worry about the concept of morality. My main character is pretty grey.

As others have said, any restrictions would depend on the character. I haven't played any truly evil characters, although some have been pragmatically amoral. I haven't played any paladin-type characters, either, although some have been basically good at heart.

I think they are just referring to the Stone that lets you raise an army of undead. That would defo qualify. :D

It depends on the character. They try to avoid being evil, and as such, avoid the Daedra. Well, some of them.

Huh, this might be it. Still, they're all magical, so the OP's character couldn't use them either way. Maybe except the Lady Stone. it's basically Restoration.

the single standing stone would indeed. However, it's the usage of the plural form of stones that begs the question.

I've played a vampire and werewolf with no problem. I don't play them as evil, just predators. Not unlike playing a bear or sabre cat. "Fish's gotta swim, bird's gotta eat" kinda thing. I've played assassin. A cold character, but without malice for victims. Characters about survival and success, not sociopathy. :D

I don't play and don't like malicious characters or quests like at least a couple of the daedric quests.

At least you left barnyard animals in there.

Whew... that was a close one.

It depends on the character, although I don't usually do the Companions, Mephela's quest or the Imperial Side of the civil war.

Always be polite to people. I never ever pick insulting dialogue options, even when dealing with my worst enemies.

I like doing it like a sir.

And never attack/murder civilians, unarmed enemy combatants (that is, wounded soldiers in camps) and non-hostile animals.

I like to role play a lot, and I have done all of those things in different playthroughs. Although, my favorite play through is an Imperial, who joined the Imperial Legion, and follows all of those moral guidelines. He also prays to Stendarr regularly, and has an amulet to Stendarr that he wears constantly.

Thats a good way to put it. Im the exact same way. Most of my characters start out as normal skyrim citizens then somehow get corrupt and ultimately end up evil. Not the take over the world evil, but more like out for myself and screw everything else evil.

My character discovered a set of armour from another universe (see Raymond E. Feist and the Valheru) which twisted his mind, made him power-hungry. He collected all of the Daedric artifacts, before direct intervention by the Divines allowed him the strength to give up the armour.

He kept the Daedric artifacts locked away in an undisclosed location. While he knew that the Artifacts would slip back into Oblivion eventually, he felt it was his obligation to keep them away from the world for as long as he could.

As it is a game, my morals tend to not affect my gameplay much (or i would be stuck playing a goody-goody paladin 100% of the time) though i do tend to avoid doing the quests that go overboard, like Molag Bal's quest. I just cannot justify helping the King Of R*** (not sure if that word is allowed) and even my most evil characters tend to be more battle-hungry or cold and not really evil, but not because of my morals, just because of RP.

I usually don't do vampires or werewolves, but im considering a WW rp, and im doing a vampire one.

Ill do Daedric quests if i can defy them.

Eh, ill do anything for the sake of RP. But i always RP good characters.

Besides kill Paarthurnax. Never.

I end up being a werewolf, only because they made it tied to one of the storylines.

The only other thing is the Daedric quests. Even though my character may be good, i may still do some quests for Daedra that you may consider bad. I'm not going to let my RP be the reason i miss out on some good dialogue. Shaegorath and Clavicus Vile? those guys are kinda funny. Not only that but arent some Daedra good? like Azura, Meridia and Kyne?
