It was revealed in the discription of the book The Infernal City last year on the website Waterstones that the next game will take place 250 years after the Oblivion Crisis. I personaly thought that it would make sence for the new game to include some at least slightly improved technology.
The choices of tech are discribed by weapons. I used marksman weapons to show this because I think they best discribe the level of technology.
Feel free to explain your discision.
First off, the rumor said 200 years, not 250. Second, it was just that, a rumor, and has not been confirmed by Bethesda, as they have yet to announce the next game. And frankly, considering the Infernal City only takes place 45 or so years after Oblivion, I think them setting it 200 years after is hard to believe, considering the second book will more than likely take place around the same time as the first. Sorry to sound rude but it's just that I see someone mention that rumor at least once a week here.
As for advanced technology, no, I don't want to see any. 250 years in TES is not the same as 250 years in our world. Technology doesn't develop as fast because nobody is around to develop it. It isn't a world that is focused on technological development like ours is. They have other priorities. Any advanced technology, even a slight advancement, would require an explanation of which race created it, why, and how it spread so quickly throughout Tamriel that the player could use or interact with it. I do, however, support crossbows returning, as they were Dwemer made and don't need to be explained, as they were in Morrowind already.
