More Baseless Speculation Please

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 5:51 am

I'm kind of loving all the lack of knowledge about the game and the confusion that it is causing reviewers who write about games.. I hope that continues well into after the game is released. Hopefully some unfounded rumors and myths will pop up that will be fun to quash or run around in the game trying to find. I remember when the big foot rumor popped up in gta san andreas and then me spending hours in the woods hunting for big foot.. There were all sorts of things people were saying had to be completed to find big foot and I completely fell for it. ... good times.

I can't wait to do the "Ride of Paul Revere" quest.

Can you alert the Son's of Liberty in time and help them mount their defense against the Redcoat faction? There will be +1 tri corner hats to wear and you will be able to mount & ride a modified Giddy Up Buttercup.

I will do the "One Lump or Two" quest after I level up a little bit. If you're a good sneak, you should be able to slip past most of the Redcoats on watch at Boston Harbor. The Indian headband gives a +5 sneak bonus if you have the materials and skill to craft one. If you can manage a couple of critical hits on the guards without being detected, it's easier to dump all of the Nuka-Cola into the harbor. Epic!

That applies to any rpg where choice exists. Although, I tend to think of protagonists in those types of rpgs to be agents of chaos.

Baseless speculation:

- We have to abandon our family for some reason before going into the Vault, and that's how they die. And we can be a huge dike about it.

- The woman we see fighting in the arena https://youtu.be/FNfqQ7iJDg0?t=1m27s is a potential companion.

- Arthur Maxson, as an advlt, will be the leader of the Brotherhood of Steel. And he'll be full of self-doubt, as everyone around him sees him as some legendary figure but he knows deep down that he's just a man.

Fear them.

True enough I suppose. I see it more as an agent of the random than chaos, but that might just be semantics. (Chaos has more of a pejorative sound to my ears.) But I am totally naming my first character Fate.

Well this past winter was particularly nasty to Boston, they had to dump snow into the harbor, which is normally illegal, just to clear the streets enough to function. I don't know if with the new weather effects we'll see any snow but it's a possibility. (I was joking about the icebergs.)

Fringe is one of my all-time favorite shows. I don't recall Fallout ever referencing contemporary culture though, so easter eggs like this are probably a long shot like you say. Although I agree that a Louis cameo might be funny.

Talon Company was hired by an unknown person/organization to keep the DC zone aND outside wasteland in a state of chaos and desrepair.

Institute hired Talon Company! That's my speculation

The ability to make swords with of all kinds, including flaming swords, electric swords, maybe even a gun-sword or something along those lines would be cool!

at the 4:17 minute mark in the announcement video there is a small sailboat flying a jib on screen right. Perhaps some sailing? MIT has a sailing school.

There will be an apple gun in the game and after every critical hit you'll say. "how do you like them apples?"

Do you think it's a chance they will add some kind of easter egg(s) from Fallout 3 or New Vegas?

I know it could be unlikely because Fallout 4 has a different location from where both of the previous games took place

(and am I right that the events occured around the same period of time?), but it would be fun to stumble up on some clues

about what's going on (or happend) to The Lone Wanderer or The Courier.

With multiple illustrations of aliens in the concept art, perhaps they'll have a greater role in the events of FO4.

Maybe a turf war between the BOS and Institute over some new wreckage. Off topic: what makes planetary operations so difficult for an alien craft that has enough energy and durability to travel light years?

It sounds like they're going for a revolutionary war motif with the setting and story. Redcoats? Muskets? Minutemen? Who's playing what metaphorical role?

If they push hard on that motif, one faction will have to be "the establishment" that views everything as their right, and possessed of a larger, better trained, more the technically advanced army. Only two factions we know of could fit that bill.

I've always secretly wanted a weapon that would let us fire those random plungers that are lying around. :D?

the rock-it-launcher in F3 will let us do this.
And I believe there is some kind of junk canon in this time around.

Can you believe I have never made a rock-it-launcher, even though I've played a lot of Fallout 3 and New Vegas? Guess I'm going to give the junk jet a try this time around.

I just built a rock-it launcher last night in my current Fallout 3 playthrough. Gonna go smash some raiders with teddy bears, plungers, and garden gnomes!

Fallout 3 has it but not NV. But anyway, I think they renamed it the Junk Jet because Rock-it launcher sounds corny. I don't blame them for it.

That there will be a mini Todd Howard companion who flies around and screams "It just Works" or "Superflous".

In terms of a baseless speculation, the sole survivor reunites with the family 200 years later.
