More Black hairstyles

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 8:19 pm

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but I'd life to see better Black hairstyles for FO4. In the last-gen Fallouts, there were really only two somewhat realistic hairstyles that you could put on a Black avatar (the shaved head look and I guess the pompadour). It'd be cool if they added better, more realistic hairstyles (afros, high top fades, dreads, etc.).

They certainly are not sporting blonde mop tops naturally.

Why are people so sensitive and quick to call something racist?

It's hardly racist to acknowledge physical difference in appearance between people, and request that those are portrayed in game.

No, not really. Besides, my overall point is that Black people have a different type of hair compared to White people and I think the optional hairstyles should reflect that.

People are welcome to call me racist but the original character I was going to make for New Vegas (who I may still make), was Mojave Jackson, who was to embody all that power of Samuel L Jackson, with the catchphrase "You don't [censored] with the Mojave, the Mojave [censored]s you!" But I could never make a character quite shaft enough to be that strong black ore that won't cop out when there's heat all about.

So...I agree here. I think the different races have not been given enough attention to detail.

They're not naturally sporting pompadour's, dreadlocks, or corn rows either, what's your point?

More ethnic hairstyles is certainly welcome not just in Fallout, but TES as well...so long as it fits the time frame and setting.

yeah... that's not really realistic.... I'm not sure if you're black or not, and I'm saying right now that I am not, but most of the hairstyles you mentions require styling... last time I checked barbershops were pretty scarce in the wasteland.

I get what you're saying that most black people sport afros, high top fades, and dreads more often than other races... but it would not fit the theme of post apocalyptic wasteland. Maybe dreads because you just let them grow and never wash it. But other than that it wouldn't make much sense and would be kind of silly

But it's perfectly fine to have a pompadour? Like, the default hairstyles you'd find in FO3 and F:NV are fine and fit the setting but styles like fades aren't? That doesn't make sense.

tocuhe. They might just be sticking with the styles that appeared from the 1950's. the pompadour looks plenty greaser to me. Not sure when the styles you mentioned came about, but they remind me of the early 90's more. Not sure what african american hair style was like from the 50's

Well you took my point in the unintended direction.

Dreadlocks, and cornrows aren't just naturally occurring, sure, but that is more just "doing my hair" rather than just completely changing it's look, feel, and colour to what just normally wouldn't happen.

It's like if you played GTA 5, and Franklin's hairstyle choices were either a fade, bald, or the long haired trendy kid hairstyles you get online.

His face kills me.

My character is going to sport the curls and blank stare everyone in the Wastes no matter the situation haha.

He's so unamused.

Do you know any who could do the hair of the standard protagonist without an incredible amount of styling?

Many Caucasians would struggle with that too of course. Most Chinese people? Easy.

I remember getting my hair cut in Thailand, and the hair dresser just said she had no idea what to do with it.

Different races do have naturally different hair. I don't think that's racist.

~has raider hairstyle flashbacks~ Totes sticking with the 50's aesthetic, yeah. Speaking of raider hair where did they get all that industrial strength gel they were using?

I thought I saw more black hairstyles in the E3 demo and https://youtu.be/ju01QbTNIGg?t=5m49s? They're mostly just slight variations in length and cut though.

Personally I don't mind. Do I think we will get it? No.

I also don't think it's racist wanting these things. I'm black and don't have a arfo, cornrows or dreadlocks(nor do I want them... Ok maybe a afro). I know a good number of blacks who do have these hairstyles, my uncle has very long dreadlocks. But what I really want is to able to make a bald character. I also was friends with a ginger who had a huge Afro in high school .

We've met at least three in the last two games.

Also, look at the hairstyles from Fallout 3 and New Vegas and tell me that they don't require styling.

More hairstyles and beards and eyebrows would be awesome, just means less modding for me.

There were some black singing groups that wore the pompadour back in the 50s. They look pretty cool to me.

Ulysses from the Divide had dreads. We have raiders with mohawks which are silly.
