Yeah, some japanese bows would be awesome! The Mongols and Koreans used a recurve composite bow. That would be great too... Let's hope...

Long bow, short bow, same thing... And a useless topic.

You could have asked for crossbows, that, s better.

Yes, more bows, but NOT crossbows. Crossbows take very long to reload. The ones in Morrowind BROKE IMMERSION :toughninja:

I heard that there will not be crossbows but I don't know about short bows. There really is not a point of short bows, they are weaker, and only slightly lighter, not enough to make a major difference.

Well we can agree to disagree on that but I do agree that more bow variety would be nice. I am just not sure if they should all behave the same and just be there for the aesthetics or if recurves should have more damage up close or what.

Seeing how adamant lots of people are about ignoring throwing weapons and crossbows, I'd at least like to see additional types of bows in Skyrim. As an archery enthusiast, it definitely would make a lot of tactical sense for there to also be recurve and short bows in the game. Guild Wars executed this particularly well, with bows having varying ranges, speeds, and arcs.

I hope for different types of bows like crossbows, long bows, short bows and more. I guess my point is that one hand and two hand have multiple weapons and marksman (archery) has one.

short bows have less range and power and don't weight significantly less so for the purpose of this game I would say that they are not worth it. I would much rather them spend time on making crossbows if they are going to add in another type of bow.

You can draw a short bow quicker, more shots.

It really isn't fair. You want to use one handed weapons, what do you get to specialize in? Maces, Axes, Daggers, Short Swords, Long Swords.

What about two handed? Claymores, Warhammers, Battle Axes.

Specializing in Marksman? Well guess what, you get to specialize in Bows! You don't get to choose if you want to specialize in particular ones, just bows. That just svcks.

Edit:
@RevolverZarriel: Yeah short bows are also more maneuverable, so you should be able to turn faster, run quicker, even run and shoot (although it would be extremely inaccurate).

Main real world benefit is that it's far easier to use from horseback.

That Mongolian bow would fit in Skrim so well.

If not in the game ill make a mod for it.

Khajeit tail bow string and argonian scale covering it ,the arrows will be orc teeth and whenever equipped you turn into a dunmer.

Variety is never a bad thing, but you can't put every kind of weapon in the game. I personally want a http://www.red-path.org/american-indian/war-club-07.html.

It would be funny if one of the world artists/modelers put a spear and crossbow up in one of the shops, but you can't buy/take it. The ultimate tease.

Honestly, here's how I want to see marksman weapons:
BOWS: Longbow, Shortbow, Crossbow
THROWN: Throwing Knife, Throwing Star/Shuriken, Dart

Long bow, short bow, same thing

No they aren't. Longbows are very large (nearly as tall as an average man), have much bigger arrows, and take a lot longer to pull back. They also shoot to a a much farther distance and can penetrate most armor with ease.

Short bows a re small, lightweight and low strength bow used for closer range and mobile shooting. Kind of a close range forest hunting sort of deal.

marksman...

shortbow (you can call it composite if you want)

longbow

crossbow

throwing knives

(throwing axes and spears should be under one and two handed skills, and should infact have their own throw button)

Throwing spears and thrusting spears are not the same thing. Neither are axes and throwing axes.

Should probably just be different weapons.
