More Content = More Random Instances

Post » Thu Sep 22, 2011 1:06 pm

So, it appears that Skyrim is covered head-to-toe with content of all shapes and sizes. I'm loving it. But what I'm loving more are ALL the random instances I've read thus far. Burning carriages, people attacking giants, meeting random mages, etc, etc, etc....

There will be 'fast travel,' yes, but with all the instances that happen on the road- there won't be a lingering thought to use it. I can't wait to hit the road. To find myself in an accidental adventure. Yes, yes, there were instances that happened in the previous games, but I fully believe that neither one could hold a candle to the amount of instances Skyrim will have.

This feature, alone, is what excites me about this game.

Thoughts anyone?

I've been thinking about this a lot, I think its great that no single game will ever be the same due to all the random happenings in Skyrim.

Its that sense of life that really spices up the world. This certainly will deter people from jumping from place to place, at least it certainly will me! Hopefully with so much happening I have a feeling I won't get around to stopping Alduin too quickly either!

I think to get the most out of replays and insure you don't see much of the same instances in three or four different play throughs we will need to avoid tromping the same terrain 10 times over. Glad i'm not averse to using fast travel.

Yeah. I liked the random events BUT! There has been a lot of undeserved praise for very similar events that occur in other games. Fallout 3's were ok in the fact that a lot of them were good and only happened once. That is good and bad. Red Dead Redemption used a similar system but you ran into the same generated occurances over and over and over and over again. This was terrible even though it got a lot of praise. I am curious to see how Radiant Story falls out between these two comparisons. F@nboys give Radiant Story a lot of praise without even really acknowleding the fact it isn't really a mythic story creator but simply a developer tool intended to make creation and manipulation easier from the Dev standpoint. I think it will definately add some interesting spice to Skyrim as long as the Dev's have gotten creative with it. I think the real question to be asked is "How long will the great randomness of RS be viable until it starts showing its ugly head as a random fetch quest generator?"

I'm very excited about this as well, and I really hope that the amount of these types of occurances and encounters truly lives up to what rumour suggests. ,

I'd rather have a "random fetch quest generator" than ending up with nothing more to do.
