More cut content found

So I was going through Fallout 4's files via Fo4Edit and found some more cool stuff

-At one point it was going to be required that you have 8 STR to pull the mini-gun off the vertibird in Concord at the beginning of the game.

-During the "The Disappearing Act" quest, the player's perception stat was going to affect their ability to read the writing on the "surgery receipt", with higher perception allowing for the player to make out more of the writing on the note(its mentioned the person who wrote it had very poor handwriting)

-The Silver Shroud quest had several cut things including

--The ability to destroy the Shroud Costume in a vat of acid(presumably as a mean to break Kent of his obsession)

--Kent was originally going to be slowly tortured to death by Sinjin, forcing the player to fight through Sinjin's goons on a time limit.

--Sinjin was originally going to be killable by overloading a reactor and killing him with radiation. The fact that hes a ghoul would make this impossible, unless he was going to trun as a ghoul later at some point i nthe original quest for revenge or something.

-When recounting the player's deeds to Desdemona, Deacon has two lines that mention things no longer in the game

--"A Chinese nuclear sub. An undersea vault. And a daring rescue. That ring any bells?" This may have to do with the cut underwater quest, which may have continued on from the in-game quest involving the sub.

--"Rumor had it Salem was about to go nova. Then some stranger brokered a peace. Sound familiar?" Salem in-game has no one but one guy living in it, which makes me wonder what this means. I recall some VERY old rumor from before the game out that some leaks said Salem was going to be having a "synth hunt", similar to the famous witch hunts in the past, and that the player could intervene. Nothing ever proved this was anything more then a rumor, but this line may hint that was in fact true at some point in development.

--Deacon also has a line for the player being the champion of the Combat zone "This here is the champion of the Combat Zone. That's a hell of a feat.", referencing the now famously cut combat zone arena.

Seems they'll just never gives us any sort of Arena again. It ended with Oblivion, apparently.

As for Sinjin, since NPCs are leveled to the player, it's hard to implement a time-limited scene like that without scripting, which is unstable enough as it is.

I can see why most of that was cut, honestly.

(and tbh I never saw what the big deal was with arenas in these games. I mean, they're cool, but so's a lot of other stuff)

I really like the idea of Salem synth trials. The area was pretty spooky and grim feeling until I realized it's only inhabitants were some crabs, an old man and maybe the occasional Deathclaw strolling through.

Also, you wee apparently supposed to get the "wired reflexes" perk from the Covenant quest.

It's not cut content, but in the Art of Fallout 4 there was a concept for a Institute Bio-Weapon. It was a bacteria organism eating rifle of some sorts. I hope it makes its way to DLC.

I think that was cut because had the Institute had bio weapons, as well as their past with FEV they would actually be an evil faction. I think it was cut to make the Institute more likable and relate able as most would find bio weapons despicable.

Not me, would have made for an interesting weapons to have. Can't be any more despicable than having an entire settlement of people killed just to retrieve plans for a device that the person who found it was willing to sell in the first place.

On a side note, I hate they cut out the content that required stat checks. I really liked that about past fallout games. It made each playthrough a little more diverse since you could do certain things with one build that you couldn't with another. It's mostly just homogenized now. The USS constitution quest is still one of my favorite ones since you can bypass a lot of the errand fetch quests by passing skill checks.
