[RELz] More Detailed Places

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 2:09 pm

Thanks for the kind words :)

I've been thinking a lot about which place I should do next and it all comes up to Sadrith Mora (+ Wolverine Hall).
That city has always looked way too empty for my taste. And it will also give me some challenge, since it's pretty big.

Pelagiad is imho very empty too. There is a lot of unused space at the castle.

Ald-ruhn! There are already some nice mods for Under-Skar, but, by and large, the Redoran capital is very plain :P

Thank you so much for sharing these! In the past I've gotten very excited about a couple projects very similar to this one but both of them have collapsed and will never see the light of day. I can't tell you how awesome it is to finally see somebody really making progress on a great addition like this, thank you! :^)

Truly, mods like these and TamaraVico's "Wood of Stone" are among the very highest on my list of what I'd like to see more of in my Morrowind game.

Yay! Dagon Fel! Thank you!

I've always felt that the Caldera Mining area was very empty. The town and castle could use some extra statics to really bring it to life, though. Once you get one town looking as nice as Ragox makes it, all the other towns just stand out like sore thumbs due to their sparse use of statics/props. In other words: I love the changes in More Detailed Place so much, it's hard for me to not want all the towns looking as pretty.

For some very selfish reasons (My current character, Nerayn Indras, is currently lodging in and headquartered in Sadrith Mora and it's a major location for him), I don't mind you doing that at all. You've got my support for that choice. And yes, it could use some detail.

Thanks guys, you are all giving me a lot motivation with your very positive feedback :)
And don't worry, Pelagiad, Caldera and Ald-ruhn are on my list. I just can't tell you what will be done first and when.

I promise you, he will be pleased as soon as he sees the new Sadrith Mora.
The progress is going really well and pretty fast, since I'm in some kind of routine already. Maybe I can show a bit off later B)

I can say with a fair amount of certainty that these mods have found themselves a permanent home in my game.

Well, I'm going to be installing these now: I really hope the FPS hit won't be too bad.

Wow, you are just cranking these out. Good work! Did you ever think about changing that flowerbed in Ebonheart?

Looking good! Will the Wolverine Hall courtyard get some lovin', too? And those docks - they just wouldn't look right without all those nice touches you add to your boats - anchors, rope coils, and the like.

I don't know, Sadrith Mora is still looking pretty barren to me in those shots... I think it could use some more greenery instead of just more rocks and fungus, maybe some kreshweed and other pretty plants would liven it up a bit?

I like the way it's going, personally. I don't want it to be too lush with greenery because the Telvanni Isles are pretty craggy, rocky places anyway, so it'd look sort of out of place.

I like the spores there, though perhaps a bit of vertical action with the tall, but narrowish/smallish mushrooms would look nice tastefully mixed in. An area to focus on would be on the hill surrounding Neloth's tower, as I've always found it suspiciously empty of any detail at all.

And rockiness. Additional Telvanni Isles style menhirs would be good things to use as setpieces.

Ragox, your textures look marvellous. What replacers are you using there? Everything is so detailed - from the terrain, to the statics like crates or stools.

Yes, I will also work on them, but the dock is quite unusable for big improvements. Probably there will be just more cargo on the ships and an anchor.

Well doing so would interfere with the biggest goal of this mod - to stay as close to the original Morrowind style as possible, as you can read in the description. I generally just use plants, that you can find in and around the affected city. This is not one of those "greener-MW-mods". :frog:

Thanks and I would really love to tell you which ones, but I've installed so many different ones over the time, which makes it pretty impossible for me. However I can tell you that I collected the most of them at Planet Elderscrolls inside the "Models/Textures" category. I hope that helps a bit...

Isn't Sadrith Mora supposed to be *the* major Telvanni port city on Vvardenfell? I wonder why its dock is so pathetic... seems to me like a total redesign of the dock structure itself would be very welcome.

Or perhaps some added areas where cargo can be put?

Maybe they levitate their cargo? :P

Good news guys!

I'm really pleased to announce, that 2 new releases (Sadrith More & Gnaar Mok!) have just been uploaded and added to the 1st post.

Why 2? Because I'm no longer working alone on MDP! http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showuser=392408 has joined the project and contributed "MDP - Gnaar Mok" :)

Not only that, but MDP - Fort Buckmoth is also on the way, and I guess you'll see it here by tomorrow! :)

If anyone got any suggestions as to what to add to the fort, please share them.

@Alaisiagae: Well, Fort Buckmoth is just about done, so I will probably start on Hla Oad next. (Tonight or tomorrow hopefully)

@Pushkatu: I definitely think these mods will be combined to one, one day, when we have released many, many more... :)

What I like is that you guys work quite fast and before I get used to the existing ones I end up installing more. That's the beauty of playing Morrowind with mods. :P
