no more DLC for Skyrim #2

Post » Tue Apr 16, 2013 2:23 am

I'm not a huge fan of Fallout. I played Fallout 3 and New Vegas to their ends (most DLC included), but I played them mostly to kill time between TES installments.
So I really don't have much to look forward to from Bethesda for at least 3 years now. Before the news hit, I was excited to hear about when some of the GameJam stuff would be released and when Skyrim would get its final DLC dealing with the Thalmor or at the very least making sure that Skyrim has a ruler or something.

All I can really hope for is that TESO agrees with me (pay method, if my PC can run it, ect), and that more of the GameJam stuff comes out for Skyrim in the form of patches.

What happened to them making DLC for Skyrim as long as people are playing it?

That mantra/mindset is sitting pretty on Todd Howard's shelf. Right next to his realistic economy.

ugh its sad to say but now my day feels ruined. I have a bad taste in my mouth now when playing skyrim.

Are we absolutely positive this means no more DLC?

Yes. Pete said no more.

Even the much hated EA/BioWare can do it. Why not Bethesda? :ahhh:

Skyrim was the 13th most played Xbox game of 2012 http://majornelson.com/2013/01/22/top-games-of-2012/

Anyone have PS3 or PC numbers?

Not sure where to find Played Game Hours on PS3, but I know that Skyrim didn't crack 1 million copies on PS3. For a platform that is known more around the globe than just the United States, that's to be expected. Even more so for a Western RPG.

PS3 release was about 2 months ago. Probably threw a wrench into everything.

They declare they've stopped along with the release of the last major DLC's. Happened with Oblivion, Fallout 3 and I think New Vegas.

So the vitriol here is probably increased because this is so out of the blue.

Meh, looking forward to their next project, should be another fun fun ride.

It's really hard for me to look forward to a project for a nonexistant console that I do not yet own.

I know I'm in that boat.

Just who makes FO4? Obsidian or Bethesda?

Really hoping for Obsidian.

Personally, I really don't care one way or the other about this. I just want them to learn from Skyrim and do a better job next time. Sony is doing them a favor by reducing potential and trading off for dev accessibility on their next gen, so there is no excuses for the crap from this title. And with that said, they still did a decent job. The game had soooo much potential, didn't reach it all, and with all the hiccups maybe it is just best to let it be where it's at.

And I can see the logic that it makes little sense to continue focusing on development for a product that, in regards to consoles, is on a platform that is old and the new ones are just around the corner. There is no doubt in my mind that BGS or Obsidian (or both) has the Dev kits already for the PS4 and the NextBox and are now giving them the full attention they deserve so that they can make a truly epic game when those consoles come out.

In regards to the PC folks - seriously, you have mods and people make mods for you. Even HUGE DLC type mods. On top of the the USP fixes so much more than the support from Bethesda ever has given a game. It has been said many times but it bears repeating: You guys can fix bugs on your own legally. I have to break some laws and agreements to fix them on mine (which I'm not confirming or admitting that I do).

I know for a fact that it occurred both with Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

I'm very disapointed by todays news, Skyrim needed at least one more DLC. Magic is still under damaged when compared to the other skills and that is something that could have been fixed but nope thats not going to happen. Real [censored] announcement by beth. Consoles continue to get the short end of the stick and I'm done with that. I enjoyed Skyrim but it needed one more medium dlc. Im done giving money to this company and this announcement is the straw that broke the camels back. The only good news out of this is that patching will get more focus and thats something that is badly needed.

Then don't? Just because I am excited, doesn't mean you have to be. That's not what I meant to say, if It came across like that.

Skyrim sold way more than 1million on PS3.
