No more DLC for Skyrim #6

Post » Tue Apr 16, 2013 3:30 am

Discuss.

Also, Pete Hines tweedted this recently on his Twitter Feed.

"For those asking, yes, today's thanks/farewell Skyrim post does mean there is no more DLC coming. http://t.co/lWXMuP4Ex5"

There may yet still be hope. I for one am disappointed that we really did not receive another DLC. Dragonborn did not leave a good taste.

Edit: It appears my title is numbered incorrectly. It should say "6".

Double Edit: Oh my, how embarrassing. I am absolutely mortified that I have misread HInes's post. There will be no more DLC.

Haven't we discussed this enough already? i'll just repost:

I'm pretty sure they were planning on releasing more. thats why they said they weren't finished. but with the console limits i guess they couldn't afford adding more content. they shouldve known that though given the fact that they had troubles with the ps3 DLC. they shouldn't have promised us anything before they were sure they could deliver. thats what im upset about.

I think it could have been an outside world like Solstheim was.

I hope we PS3 users aren't to blame.

Bethesda shouldn't have let us speculate for so long if they were done with DLCs and they knew it. A couple of days before this I began to get a bad feeling 1.9 was a final cleanup before a GotY version. I wish I had been wrong.

No. They have said a lot of things though. However.. none of them seem to match up with what we have gotten.

Fallout 4 here I come!!!

I'm thrilled that Skyrim is done, that means Bethesda is ready to turn it full attention to fallout 4. I only hope it doesn't turn out as disappointing as Skyrim did.

Make no mistake, I do not hate Skyrim. I wouldn't still be playing it after a year and a half if I did. Disappointment is different than hate. I'm disappointed in many of the design decisions that were made...decisions that (IMO) watered down the series far too much.

Pete mentions how there could still be DLC. For all we know they just finished it and it has been sent for certification.

Just wanted to post this correction, from my previous post in the last (closed) thread, about the jump in technical ability of the next gen consoles. (I copy/pasted the wrong bit last time):

"In the last generation the perception was that it was going to be a ten times improvement over the previous generation. For the next generation there will be a big leap, but it won't be as obvious."

1.9 did the opposite for me.
I had thought that with the Legendary Features there would be room for overhauling of some skills trees (destruction mainly), adding in spears, ect. I thought that it would open up the game more... not be the final major thing the team does.

That has never (to my knowledge) been stated. I do remember Todd stating they'd like to do less DLC, but with more meat on them. I believe he cited the frantic pace at which they were working on the DLC for Fallout 3 being the reason they wanted to do less.

I still think, after 2 big dlc's releasing a 3rd one would require a lot of work. maybe beth released they will run into too many technical problems so they went the easy way and stopped it altogether. there is no other reason why they didn't say dragonborn was last dlc other than this. console users certainly can't be blamed though.

Even if it was the ps3 dlc's fault, it wouldn't be the user's fault. It would either be Sonys or Beths own fault. Not that it matters now.

Indeed.

Now (not right now, but you know, within working hours tomorrow) would be a good time for them to actually clarify what this announcement means (beyond, lolguisenomoreDLC).

Instead of the usual poor communication we've been served up time and again. :twirl:
