Hey we all forgot about hist sap. That be a fun narcotic to bring back, should have a radically different effect on argonians.


That would be great. Also I noticed that most of the narcotics come from the beast races. :blink:

Drugs have been around since day one in all cultures but the term "drug" is fairly recent.

"The word drug apparently has it's origins from a French word meaning dry - as in dried herbs, first noted use is during the 1300s. Since then it's been used to describe poisons, narcotics and opiates and a variety of other herbs and naturally grown products as well as synthesized chemicals. . 'Drug store was named so in early 1800s America, where various dried opiates and narcotics and snake oil and both real and fake remedies were sold (rather like today).

Magic potions are all about drugs and their effect on people, with mushrooms and toadstools among the most widely used.
So more drugs in that way as in poisons and potions yes. But no to trying to fit it all in with today's drug culture of criminality and gangster pushers. Besides I'm sure it's impossible to kill all the bosses and save the world while stoned.

Haha I just remembered I modded a potion in Morrowind where after you drank it you were blinded by Disneyish, neon type colors and magic stars whizzing around you in a bubble without protection and unable to fight and the effect lasted about 3 minutes. but after that you become a powerhouse of a killer for 15 seconds before reverting back to the normal you. So you had to time the taking of the potion to use it successfully in a fight.

Maybe they should have one of the most compelling and additive drugs of all time -

Sap is an illegal export out of Black Marsh and causes hallucinations to non-argonians(sort of).

I would like to see more drugs that actually give you great effects but when you get used to them, your stats go down otherwise. I like to roleplay that my thief characters are drug addicts and that's why they steal because if I just fence everything I have more money than I know what to do with... I still like breaking in and finding cool stuff in people's houses but there seems to be no reason unless I play a character that needs money for a daily fix of skooma. At the very least I'd like to see moonsugar make a comeback and maybe add 1 more drug that instead of pepping you up, makes you slower and you take less damage and changes teh lighting effects in the game. Or make alcohol have realistic effects like the ones mentioned and last longer.

I'd also like them to work for longer than 20 seconds at a time. Spells should be short duration but I'd like to see drugs last longer.

Its not that I want to be able to do drugs, if they are in a roleplaying game I think they should be more usefull than combat boosts. Something you do before a battle to calm your nerves or something, or simply do in town because the withdrawl effects are so fierce. If they are in the game, it should be done right so they actually feel like drugs instead of potions that stop people from trading with you.

If it were me, I'd keep it at Skooma but develop it more - it was interesting to see the addicts and their Skooma dens, but it could be improved a lot. If they do add more, hopefully they'll keep it fantastical so that it doesn't court controversy.

It's that choice in quests we all want. Do you break the supply chain, or make money off it. If the radiant AI does it's stuff, being 'The Good Guy' and reporting the smugglers or killing them means you've upheld the law, but you are faced with the consequences of your actions, accosted by desperate addicts, and corrupt guards who have lost their take. No longer so black and white. Just an example, but perfectly illustrates what I hope for in this game.

I wouldn't mind more drugs. Smoking for sure. And you need awesome fantasy pipes.

I always though it was weird you drank skooma in OB instead of smoking it.

I would love to have pipesmoking in Skyrim too!

Maybe Bethesda can make it easy for modders to add it, like already make several pipes and make an animation for it that is not used ingame. In that way smoking pipe modded very quickly but they don't get the bad publicity. Win-win!

Although of course I don't see the commercial gain for them!

For the other drugs, please don't add them. Skooma & moonsugar are enough for me! And it's not drugs, but alcohol that the Nords would consume!
