So...no more grabbing items and moving them?

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 8:14 am

If you've seen the new control scheme (for console), there is no button assigned for grabbing items and moving them in the world, a staple in every other Bethesda game. The buttons that would ordinarily be mapped for this have been given over to shout powers and sprint. Grabbing is mostly used when we buy our own houses and rearrange things, or if you want to carry stuff in front of you without becoming overencumbered. I have heard that holding the A button *might* be the way to do this, but in practicality it wouldnt work in my mind.

I dont give up hope, but I find it hard to beleive they could still have a way to move objects anymore, which is very saddening.

How is it a staple of every other ES game when only one other had it (if memory serves right)?

That's genius... I should've thought of that.

If it is A it will be difficult for me as decorating my home i need both anolog sticks to move stuff in order. I cant hold A and move the right stick at the same time.

Holding A would be awkward, you would struggle to control the direction you're looking if you're holding A. Maybe you hold a then let go and you can move it freely then you tap A again to drop.

Yes, this. It's not speculation, this is what it is. It's been confirmed by Pete via Twitter

I had no idea grab and move was possible in Oblivion (PS3) for over 100 hours. There really wasn't any mention of it in-game, and I'm not sure the manual said anything about it.

Only one of which is an Elder Scrolls game. Morrowind didn't have it, which was the previous ES title before that, and I assume the titles that came before also lacked such a feature.

Can't you just change it from A to a trigger when redecorating?
(Never played it on a console so if this is a stupid suggestion please don't hate me.)

A Journalist dragged a body to a river. (And confirmed that objects will follow the flow of water)
So there will be a Grab button.

So what's the point of dragging a body to the river?

Or is the AI that smart, that if someone see's you near a dead body you are automatically assumed as the killer? Hiding evidence?

unless they write it so its hold for half a second and you will hold until you press again to release. At least that is how i would write it.

That's exactly what it is. Pete said you hold A and that activates the grab mode. We're then free to let go of A and move stuff around and then press A again whenever we want to drop it.

I only found out a month ago that it was possible in OB. I used in all the time in the Fallout games, but never knew about it in OB.
And a few weeks after that, I found it's possible to drop an item in your inventory and be carrying it in the air.
Mindblown. :ahhh:

But I've read previews in which people could place bodies into "sixually aggrivating" positions, and another who attempted to drag a wolf carcass into the lumbermill saw (before getting sidetracked). So I'm sure it's in.

I never understood how people didn't know it was in oblivion. One of the first thingsbi did when I first loaded the game up was play with the shackles by grabbing them.
