A more Graphic Game

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:45 am

Wouldn't a game only get AO rating if it has porm were it shows everything n extreme volence?

That's at the discretion of ESRB, which got egg on it's face with Oblivion so I doubt they are too happy with Bethesda.

I have to say, that as a gamer from an early age, an M rated game did not turn me off to play off, in fact it even made me want to play it more. Just look at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Thats an M rated game, and many, many "under-age" people play it.

The only people who are typcally "offended and alienated" are advlts who either have rather outdated views on such matters or actualy look into the contents of a game before they let their children play.

Which, sad to say, I doubt many parents honestly do. In fact, Im sure most of todays parents buy the game for themselves, and knowing the content, let young kids play them aswell.

I have nothing wrong with kids playing M rated games, I did when I was under-aged. The fact of the matter, just throwing in nudity for nudity's sake is just pathetic and catering to those that have to see nudity all the time. I like sixual content as much as the next guy just not in TES. Leave that for GTA, I was fine with it in there. Also nudity and heavy gore together and used at leisure would most likely merit an AO rating and BGS does not want that.....no game company wants that.

This! I mean if it is some Daedric cult worshipping Azura and they are naked in this ritual its fine but having nudity everyone, just leave that to the modders and I won't be downloading those mods, nudity for nudity's sake is just odd.

And I say nudity is not odd, clothing is odd, it is a cultural stigma that make nudity odd, we only started to wear clothes to protect ourselves from the elements, not to hide our bodies, but that aside, it is conceivable that in an earlier time, such as we play in when playing TES games, that a certain amount of nudity would be more then acceptable it would be expected in taverns and certain temples just as it was in daggerfall, and once again I have to reiterate that in our society it is fine to play a game where you can just go around cuttin off heads of random people, but to show some skin is a total taboo is crazy.

If they include these things I hope they have options to disable them. The game doesn't need nudity and I just plain do not want to see detailed gore. I don't mind if it's there but I want to be able to disable it if it is.

Yeah! Lets have huge boobs and uaginas and prosttutes and [censored]s and lots of kinky lisbian six! That'll add to the realism!

No man parts though. That's just icky.

But why should things like that have to be moded? We like to say we're a progressive society, but we dont show it. Im not saying nudity has to be in, but I think some thought should be put into it.

There is a difference between a progressive game, and a game that is pormographic for the heck of it, it should be only for realism if in, no naked people walking up the street

more blood and guts - yes, please

nudity - i wouldn't mind, especially if it's relevant to the story, as in romance cut scenes, etc., but don't really care much either way.

oversized D-cup "bewbz" - no thanks, let's have naturalistic looking bodies without plastic surgery please

I dont care what you prudes think, I like boobs ! always have, always will, even on game characters, if we gonna have a mature rating and I am hoping we will, then no reason not to have em, as for the remark about the only people wanting them dont have a sixual partner, you are way wrong, btw your hand Dont count brother.

Exactly what I was thinking.

About the game not the hand part, the emote is my reaction to it. :D

There should be a higher level of it than in previous games, or at least a better implementation of it, for example, in Morrowind, in Suran, there was that gentlemen's club - things like that, and shady establishments such as slave camps, et cetera (if lore-friendly), stuck away in the pits of Skyrim society - a good example was in the Better Cities mod for Oblivion, in Bravil, they had the gallows, and all the dodgy little shops and taverns that were around it - really added to the atmosphere, made it feel like it was supposed to.

So, in short, the graphic nature should be enhanced in terms of increasing the realism and immersion :)

Do you think Skyrim should be more graphic then its predecessors? I.E: an M rated game for realistic wounds, decapitations, limb loss, burns from magical effects, really nasty looking zombies etc

How about advlt content? As in some nudity here and there, and themes such as prostitution? As I recall some lore on UESP says that some brothel houses have symbols of the Daedric Prince Sanguine, as his aspects of sixual debauchery and hedonism relate to them. That'd be interesting to touch on.

So...your thoughts?

If you make the gore "realistic" thats even more sickening than hollywood style. Have you ever seen what a human looks like after being beaten with a mace like object, i have and it's hte most scaring thing i have ever seen.

GO FOR IT GAME WILL BE BRUTAL.

Or simply make the pc version DX11 compatible and the ES tools scalable snd we'll add it in

Nudity just won't happen with console games, and the PC modding community (as some have already stated) will fill in the perverse gaps. With regards to the gore aspect, I think some realism would be good, but not anything like the "Bloody Mess" perk in Fallout. Too over the top.

I think a high level weapon perk svck as a Master Swordsman Decapitation would be awesome though. You know, sort of like a finishing move. Havok + Rolling Heads = Good Times

theres a ''bloody mess'' perk in fall out,? what you like get to upgrade and go savage to an opponent, cause if thats in skyrim that would be cool cause that would suit my character type, cruel, powerful and vicious, just plain evil.

Nudity when you take all your clothes off makes sense*. Happened to me just now when I went for a shower.

Being able to swim naked, or run naked through the streets like a crazy guy, adds to the game if you are playing a character who would do that. Filling your basemant with naked rotting corpses adds to the game if you are playing a character who would do that. Being able to do things we can do in real life adds to the game for me, even if I don't make use of every possibility.

Taking options out of the game just to satisfy the self-righteous prudes that want to control what other people get up to in games is bad, mkay? Don't we want games to get the same recognition as movies have, i.e. as a serious artform? Then we shouldn't restrict them to such absurd levels. Remember the 'alien sideboob' controversy.

Concealment of the human body will happen, of course, and the game will hopefully be fantastic anyway (it's really no big deal), but in a perfect world it would be possible to take off your clothes in an ES game. This is already a game where you can murder pretty much everyone you want. The fact that this is 'ok for kids', and yet a single naked briast would make it 'mature' and even 'perverted', worries me.

What I don't want in any way is every female character having huge briasts and scanty armour. That is just pathetic. That, much more than full nudity, would make the game seem designed around adolescent boys.

Some female characters should have huge briasts, just like in real life. Some should have small briasts. Some should have huge everything. Same goes for men and their man-boobs.

Flesh-revealing armour, on the other hand, is just plain stupid. Ask yourself what the function of armour is.

* Although I would prefer it if there were some 'undergarments' that also had to be taken off. I had a body mod for Oblivion that was otherwise great, but it was just too wierd that looting a cuirass+greaves always left a naked corpse, so I removed it again.

Mature content was invented to lure thirteen year old boys in playing the game. Didn't Daggerfall have women without shirts on? Although, those boobs were just 8 similarly colored pixels put together.

Okay guys

Were getting all mixed up now.

Your all forgetting there's Hollywood over the top gore and voilence

there's "realistic" violence which is toned down and not so over the top.

And then there is REAL gore and violence which is probably the most hardest thing to view as a human being. Ever watch that video of the suicide during an interview; it was quick just a pop no gurgle no movement he simply died, or video's of war footage. Now the hardest thing to view is a video of a human physically beating another to death with a club or hacking them up with a bladed object, and looking at the actions and the face of the victim while this occurs hearing there please there cries for help or for mercy. Do we want THAT kind of real OR the fake kind of real?

Exactly.

I've hacked many a pixelated limb off and not once has it bothered me, but I'll never forget ignorantly stumbling across a decapitation video.

^ This. Not.

I don't want flat-out nudity, there will be mods for that soon enough anyway. But realistic body physics would be really, really great. Stiff briasts just look awkward and break the immersion of an otherwise physically (mostly) corret environment. And that doesn't mean they have to fling from one side to the other or jiggle nonstop.

Themes like prostitution are fine, too. But there's no need to take it to a visual level.

not that im asking for the stuff, but im surprised its NOT in...

i mean, their old games had plenty of nudity and topless females... even if they were enemies.

so, they were only willing use advlt content when it was bad quality? that seems like a big tease, doesnt it?

i mean, have you people seen how advlt-themed dante's inferno is? ...never thought they'd allow a game like that in stores...

now, i know dante's inferno isnt a bethesda game, i was just using it as an example... theres some pretty advlt games out there, so why is bethesda afraid to go back to their roots?

im mostly just curious why bethesda decided to censor their games and not include those sanguine brothel houses, etc... hell, they could still include those and "censor" them, just keep everyone in their underwear,

though, i suppose they offer enough innuendo as jokes... and people like falanu hlaalu, i think her name was... in the city of skingrad from oblivion... she's a necrophiliac, afterall.

again, im not requesting anything like this, im just expressing my curiosity why they gave up their light advlt themes in the games, just seems odd for monsters to be modest about their bodies, or daedric princes, for that matter.

No nudity I absolutely hate seeing nudity in games it's just weird. I just sit there all arkward feeling like the worlds biggest nerd for watching pixelated boobs.

Decapitations and more gore on the other hand? Yeah I think that should be in, just adds to the realism and makes kills more satisfying :D

Nobody is saying that nudity should be forced upon you. It would just be nice if the option was there, like in real life. You say 'more gore' would be realistic, and I agree, at least compared to Oblivion. Same goes for the ability to take off your clothes.

The fact that nakedness in games makes you feel awkward can be interpreted as either:

a) a naked body actually makes you feel awkward (which would be curious, you have one yourself)

or that

B) there's something wrong with showing nakedness through a computer game. Which means that, in your eyes, computer games should hold back more on advlt themes compared to e.g. movies (which show nakedness all the time - I'm not takling about pormos, lots of films have nakedness for one reason or another). Which means that there is less freedom of artistic expression through games compared to movies. And that makes me a sad panda.

I can understand people feeling this way, as anything approaching nudity has traditionally been handled in a very juvenile fashion in most games, but it's sad that the combination 'games+nudity', by itself, makes you feel awkward. It was handled reasonably maturely in Daggerfall, for example.

I'm not clamouring for mass boobage, just sad that nakedness is a no-no in a game of such grand scope and with so much freedom otherwise.

[censored] hyper-pretty-super graphics! I want a game with awesome gameplay, not have a game where they said ( [censored] the gameplay, let's make hyper graphics).

The latest game of stalker has good graphics (2005, about), and it's a great game.

Graphics are superficial, gameplay is what makes a video game an art work!
