More Horror elements in F:NV?

Post » Thu Nov 04, 2010 10:54 am

Especially the 'civilized' ones... Never trust a zombie to not go for your brain as soon as you let your guard down.

I've always trusted ghouls, never hated them.
Except for the krazies around Vault City but they're basically just raiders in ghoul form.

The survival part of the game will be great. hardcoe mode FTW. But a scary factor of survivall..... hmm that would be the best. I loved how in fallout after i beat the game i went to my friends house and had him play it. As soon as he left the vault i told him to head towards the metro's. (Tricked him to think there was a civilization down there) When he got in i told him they were kinda deep in, so as he walked he found a few creatures. "Is that them?" He asked me. I said yea thats them. All he saw was the shadow of moving ghouls wich can look like people. So with his wepon up he aproached them. The they hissed and he screamed and flew out of the tunnel. I also loved that nervousness when sneaking around in the hospital and the hotel.

god yes, amen. I HATE the dunwich building. It's too damn creepy. I also hate the metro tunnels. Actually, I just hate ghouls in general. Something about them (ok, everything about them) just creeps me the hell out. The heartbeat-like sound of them running, their gutteral screams, their empty eyes and .. their speed. Man, they are just creepy. Now, before I even enter a tunnel or place where there might be ghouls, first thing i do is put mask on, second thing I do is switch my sterio to play music. No game sounds makes ghouls 60% less creepy.

I hate the creepy factor of Fallout 3. Deathclaws scared me at first too, untill I realized how awesome the dart gun is :D

this is why the game is rated M if you cant stand the fact that this game might give you nightmares then dont play cause for one... I love scariness! It adds a new vibe to games, makes your stomach crumple when you know somthing is near but not where. But then they jump out and you just cant help to scream.

yes. I'm going to not play Fallout 3 because a couple instances creep me the hell out. right. something about your tone doesn't sit well with me, but I'll let it fly :P

also, about non-ferals, no. I don't mind those. In fact, I actually kinda like Tulip. the way she talks, she sounds so excited to see me. if it weren't for the whole skin falling off her face thing, I'd totaly dig her. Also, Michael Masters (the guy that takes over Montenegro's shop in Tenpenny) is pretty cool too. and poor gob.

Anyway... yeah. Feral ghouls are the ones that creep me out.

Being an avid player of survival horror games(Silent Hill etc) I didn't find the dunwich building scary. However i did enjoy it alot along with the vault(cant remember which) that had all those hallucinations with the blue gas in the air so i do hope they include some more creepy places.

Yeah, no kidding. Heck, I'm happy to exit them, even if theres 10 super mutants waiting for me, I'd rather fight super muties than ghouls.

I don't mind suspence, or even a few creepy moments, but I to this day don't explore vaults, or sewers unless necessary.

Oh, a VERY close second in creepyness are mirelurk kings. those things are creepy as hell, the way they walk and stuff... ehh.

Add more areas with traps and such like Pinkertons lair in the broken bow.

A mix of almost drowning, hard to kill mirelurks if your aim is shakey and traps around every corner can put you into caution mode.

I loved the metro tunnels, but then it takes a lot to scare me. The first time I went into a metro tunnel I was running into ghouls a lot, so I moved slowly, carefully and hoped my weapon - a combat shotgun - wouldn't break.
Seems like a lifetime ago when I first played FO3 and was learning the ropes.

If they have more creepy locations in New Vegas, then bring it on.

I'm with you mate, The creepier the better!
It's not real, so what's there to be scared of? The shocks and jumps are the thrills that you look for when you go to the Metro Tunnels.

If New Vegas does have more creepy locations, then maybe a warning - Warning, scares may be possible, wear a nappy when playing this game - might be wise for anyone who's easily scared.

I wasn't scared in the Dunwich Building, I focused on what needed done. Hard to be scared of what can't hurt me.

I am one of the few people that loved exploring Metro Stations, there are lots of interesting things in them. Sometimes people sheltering, or a unique weapon.
I loved the creepy factor from FO3, the ghouls and the mysteries, and I hope it's back. Those vaults were awesome and very creepy to explore too.

I don't think Fallout 3 was very scary. Some parts of it have quite the nice atmosphere. Someone mentioned the quest where you go to meet Pinkerton and I thought that was very well done (the cyborg quest line is the best one in the game).

I think one potential thing that might make New Vegas a bit more tense is that they seemed to have designed it in a way so that you can really get into trouble more easily. The knowledge that you might stumble upon something that will rip you apart makes the atmosphere a lot creepier overall.

But yeah, you want scary, go play Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Just make sure you have money for the hospital bill after you get a heart attack.

I LOVED the Dunwich Building, its a reference to the H.P. Lovecraft novel "The Dunwich Horror". But sadly, Vegas isnt going to be as gloom and doom as D.C. Mainly because its Vegas, and it hasnt actually been hit by nukes, I suspect the next east coast game and all east coast games to come will be creepy enough.

If those types of things scare you then.....there doing there job!!!!!!!!!!! Its supposed to creep you out, granted it was more just an awesome easter egg for me. And also, i love ghouls. They just look so god damned cool, i enjoy trying to make up little scenarios in FO3 but sents i have th PS3 version i cant mod......so i just get the ghoul mask, lincols hat, and vance's longcoat and play Jack the Ripper. Start off by sand maning every hoker in the game, then take out either "Jack" or "Stabhappy" and maul everything in site XD. So if it werent for ghouls, i couldnt do THAT. Also, they remind me of Beetle Juice for some reason.

I sure hope they make some creepy, scary places, and I really liked the subways in Fallout 3 for the creepiness factor alone. The Dunwich building literally scared the $&!! out of me. I ran out that building screaming, lol... yeah it scared me, shaddap :P I left so quickly I actually fell off a cliff and died LOL... It was awesome.

So, umm.. yes.. creepy/scary gets two thumbs up from me :)

Child humor can be so silly that it can be funny.
The only really good humor FO3 had.

There may be flood tunnels or something from what I've read. Which will do just fine.

Well....there is a NCR base that got nuked by CL that is full of ghouls, might have some exploration you an do. I personally am not going to set foot in that place without being decked out in APA Mk. 1 and a modded out Assault Carbine.

Man, I hated those Metro tunnels in Fallout 3. Whenever I had to go through one to reach an objective, I was on edge the whole time.

All I ever wanted to do was just run through and ignore the ghouls and other creepies, but I didn't want to miss out on the loot.
