More interaction with companion

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 8:23 pm

I think it would be realy nice if they added some more interactions with companions after you reach the highest level of romance and affirnity. Because at the moment the only thing of interaction is: 'Your thoughts?' Your toughts?'.. And 'I was just wondering where you and I stand?' or ' Is everything okay between us?'...

And that get's kinda boring so it would be nice if they added like an option to give a hug or kis your companion or make a joke etc.

I'm really hoping to see the whole relationship dynamic get expanded a bit. The 'personal talks' that you have on the way to romancing (or just reaching max affinity) with a companion are great. They provide a lot of depth and insight into the character. I really felt like I was getting to know the characters. Then, as you say, you reach maximum affinity and this just ceases. There are a few scripted points where they say a bit more. At the end of the main/faction quest most of the companions will have some kind of comments that you can respond to. There are a few points during different quests where you get the opportunity for brief discussion (such as with Piper during In Sheep's Clothing), but for the most part there is NO engaging discussion after reaching maximum affinity. This really takes away from the immersion in the game. The only dialog I get to have with my romantic partner is the 4-6 scripted responses to 'Thoughts?' and 'Relationship?'

Aside from dialog, I'd like to see some actual affection of sorts. Some occasional hugs...maybe an option to occasionally slap Piper on the ass and get some kind of spunky response from her...lol These are things that would really make the whole relationship dynamic so much more convincing and more 'real'. Obviously they can only do so much. Voice actors have to record these things, so it can't be limitless. But I have to imagine that it wouldn't be too difficult to make it at least a bit more diverse.

For romanced companions you build a house. Fill it with cleaning products. Put a stove in it. And send your companion to live there. Isn't that the point of romance?

This will only work for female companions, obviously.

I couldn't agree more. Piper is by far the best companion. Anyone who disagrees is simply wrong.

Everyone loves Piper. In basically every 'favorite companion' poll that I've seen, Piper seems to almost always win by a pretty significant margin. I recently started a new play through and I haven't gotten to Diamond City yet. I can't wait to get there and go through the whole developing relationship with Piper again. That's honestly one of the things I'm looking forward to most in my second play through. This time through I'm going to make a habit of saving and reloading during the various 'personal discussions' that I have with her while raising her affinity. I want to see how all of the different dialog options play out.

I completely agree. In fact, at first with lover's embrace, my companion would physically be rising from the bed in the morning and now they don't. I am very disproportionately disappointed. I would lover hugs and a few more physical interactions. Then again Ideally more more more animations for everything.

Joking around would be great also

Maybe do like in GTA V and take them to a bar and get drunk, spilling out all over town.

Dogmeat is the best companion. Be an absolute [censored] or noble hero, Dogmeat doesn't judge, he just wags his tail. Give him a teddy bear to play with and he is quite happy.

Dogmeat is my least favorite companion aside from Strong. He is an absolute pain in the ass. He's constantly in my way, it is impossible for me to even have a modicum of stealth when I'm with him, and he's almost entirely ineffective in combat. To each their own though.

Beth probably figured we'd ditch each companion as soon as we got the perk. That seems to be their theme with FO4: Decide what players are most likely to do then give no options besides that.

Besides, what would be the point of even more conversations on rails? Every dialogue ends up where it's going regardless of what you actually say. I go out of my way to refuse and insult people, and they just laugh it off and give me the quest/perk/reward anyway.

I can see a lot of point to it, even if it is going to end up with the same end result. It adds to the engagement with the characters. It lends them more of a back story and more depth.

I couldn't agree more. Companion interactions after reaching the highest level of affinity are very flat.

The best thing comes out of DAO when it comes to romance is the random kissing, I would love for them to bring them back. It just makes the romance better, maybe jealous lines if you flirt with others (They already give "hate") and random romantic comment throughout various locations.

I was kind of hoping for more in the way of seeing how Curie adapts from being stuck in Vault 81 for a looooong time then venturing out into the 'real world.' This would also go hand-in-hand with her companion quest, which I won't spoil, though it's very early on in the relationship with her.

Piper is by far my favorite companion, she goes along well with the "do-gooder" type, which is how I always play. But interaction with your chosen companion is lacking, as it always is with an unmodded Bethesda game. Don't get me wrong, I love Bethesda's games, I've been playing them since The Elder Scrolls: Arena. The ultimate rpg for me would be to combine the open worldness of Bethesda's games with the character interaction of Biowares. Merge the Elder Scrolls with Dragon Age games, and Fallout games with Mass Effect. I think it's technically possible, but the cost factor of development and testing might not be. Just my thoughts.

In term of cost, I think they could satisfy more people, Bethesda earned a lot of money with these games, a few more animations and a few more lines wouldn't be that expensive. Fallout 4 is the best selling RPG game out there, I think they can afford it. CD Projekt does this things for their fans all the time, even at no extra cost. I wouldn't mind if they're putting it as a part of a paid DLC, just as long as they're doing it is fine.

Yeah, I wish there were more conversations with companions at max affinity, be they romantic or platonic, because they practically become a prop at that point. Super-weird to say "we're best friends forever and/or I love you!" then immediately leave them somewhere for another companion that'll actually talk to you. They also need to have WAY more non-locale/quest-specific thoughts I think, because they bark the same ~5 over and over while wandering around settlements, so even if you DO stop to ask 'Thoughts?' you're getting the same lines ad infinitum.

Overall, love the changes to companions. Very much like Serana of Skyrim's Dawnguard DLC - unique dialogue, character-specific conversations, interacting with world objects...

...mercifully less chicken zombies though.

I certainly enjoy being around Piper more than some other companions I could name.

Let's name them, shall we?

Cait: "This had better be d*mned important!"

Piper: "Anything I can do to help."

MacCready: "I'm not gonna carry that crap!"

Danse: "Don't pick that up! You'll slow us down!"

Cait: "Are you going to open a museum?"

Piper: "Well, if anybody could figure out a good use for it ..."

See what I mean? A lot of negativity from every direction.

Except from Piper. Lots of positive waves there. Are you feeling it?

Need more hot female companions, 2 females(3 if we count Curie in) is not enough at all! Right now we have 8 males but only 2(or 3) females, that's also too imbalanced, and I don't do homo stuff ever.

Females are supposed be very valuable in post-apocalyptic world since we need to repopulate our world.

I can see them adding one companion of each gender in the next DLC like some other DLC they did for Skyrim, but it's more complicated since they need to record a lot of lines for each one with dialogues related to location, other NPCs, etc. It's more than what Skyrim had for most of their companions.
