Yes, I know. But this "birds eye view" could - and should - also look like the (virtual) view of your player-character, when looking on a "real" map, which was painted / drawn by a map-artist / manufacterer of
the game world (and not of a developer of modern computer games). :rolleyes:
Imagine the feel of a map which is taken out of your characters pocket, unfolded (with a quick animation; at least in first person) before your eyes and then zoomed to a level in which it fully covers the whole screen ... and you still have the feel of an actual, paper-like hand-drawn map of it. Wouldn't this be something completely different and much more immersive ?
I doubt you will be able to plan routes before playing though. I am sure it will block out unexplored areas like Morrowind's map did, (...)
I meant, if you use such an map (like the one for Oblivion)
before you even
start playing the game (or maybe in between some longer playing-sessions).
