More Involved Guild Quest Lines

Maybe I have nostalgia glasses on but I have recently replayed Oblivion after finished Skyrim, and I play Morrowind once a year with new mods.

Anyway something has been on my mind lately, guild quests. I know people have their own justified opinions for why they prefer one TES title over the other, and it usually does come down to opinion and preference, they are all brilliant games when not compared to each other.

However I realized how involved the Morrowind guild quests are, and how linear and predetermined the Oblivion/Skyrim ones feel. Sure they all usually end with you being grandmaster, but Morrowind’s never felt like I was on some linear path just busting my way to grandmaster, at least to me. I felt like I was part of the guild doing my own thing.

In Morrowind Guilds/Factions actually felt like they had real opinions, beliefs, and ideals that clashed with other guilds/factions. Yeah I know you could still join them all and be headmaster of them all but if you do that you do get a sense of betrayal (or maybe that’s what you're role-playing as  ). Hell, just look at the Thieves’ guild and Sjoring Hard-Heart. Skyrim doesn't have anything on that scope. The quest lines are involved, span across all of Vvardenfell, are long, and usually have some guild changing decision at the end, like the Mage Guild and trying to rank up in House Telvanni.

Don’t even get me started on how awesome it feels to be a Morang Tong member. You are acknowledged as being a bad-ass and no one wants to screw with you. Though you do kind of get that feeling in Skyrim also, when in passing a guard will mention you being part of the Dark Brotherhood, little things like that I love. Also I will admit I loved the Thieves' Guild quest line in Skyrim (except the whole rebuilding the treasury thing).

Anyway, how does everyone else feel about Guild Quests? Maybe you prefer Daggerfall, though to me they always just felt like hunt quests and I never really got too involved in them.
