I don't ever get tired of the song, and when I'm not listening to the in-game music I put on oldie playlists on radio FM or spotify. That period is such a staple of the series I find it weird people would remove it while playing.

Somebody didn't read the thread.
I did, but after I had already posted. At that point it didn't matter because you responded and called me out on it.
If it makes you feel better I'll edit it to reflect that.
Just having some fun with you. Didn't want you to think you were the only one with good taste.
No idea. You can find the GNR mod on the Nexus for New Vegas and FO3, and it should have a list of the included songs.
I dont see how it's a staple of the series. They had old timey music in the first game, during the intro cut scene but that was it. It's not like all the games have tons of references to the music in them, it's really only fallout 3 and new vegas that pushed the music big time into the series. And none of the music tracks from the original games had any resemblance to 1950s music.
Not to mention fallout 2 had tons of modern weapons that werent made in the 1950s, so it's not like the entire world was stagnated for over 100 years before the great war. Plus why is it only the 1950s "pop" music, how come there's no blues and jazz?
I don't think I have ever stumbled into this many feral ghouls before. And they are all capable of speech. This does not bode well.
(Hmmmm, when did I last save?)
It's the whole vibe like you said it's at the start the first thing you see and hear is the oldie music and the projector esk intro. Then it was further delved into with the later games hence being a staple of the series. If you don't feel that way that's fine but that's something I inherently associated with Fallout and the fact that it continued into the later games proves my point. They dapple in other stuff BOS had metal in but just feels more Fallout to me with the 50s set piece and as long as that's the center of it I don't mind introducing other aspects as well.
A Metal Raider station could work but I think you'd have to tweak it a little.
Oh dear god... "Johnny Guitar" is the one and only song that I'd rather listen to Ink Spots than.
Johnny Freaking Guitar. Totally set the depressing mood in a secluded diner or dark saloon.
haha.. awesome.
I agree. I'm hoping they hired musicians to create new songs for the radio.
totally with you. unbearable, greasy whining that...
...except if it'd be johnny 'guitar' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlgOVmLfNnU, then count me in, perfect wasteland music....

i actually liked that music after 50+ hours of listening to it lol. I thought the older westeren music really fit in with the game. Granted they could have used about two dozen more songs.
I can actually remember listening to big iron with my grandpa after fallout nv came out lol
I was.....
....always a fool for my Johnny.

Haha... (-.-) I get what you mean.
Its one of the few points where I would say Fallout 3 did something better then New Vegas, and its the radio station/songs. More song variety and the radio broadcast is much better. Even if I don't care for Three Dog. I never use the radio in New Vegas anymore, as I just can't stand the songs. Heard them too many times!
They just have to be careful about how much the player is exposed to songs like that in the game. If there are radios everywhere that play the same 20-30 pop songs over and over, it's hard to imagine not getting tired of them after 100 hours of playing the game. At least you can turn radios off in most cases.
You know, old things aren't always for nostalgia. There are people that actually like discovering those much after.
Otherwise, no music from long dead musicians would never be heard again, after their contemporary fans died.
I still think it's a great song and I listen to it everytime it comes on the radio in Fallout NV. Don't know what the hate for this song is about.
