More killing animations

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 10:17 pm

I have played the game for some time, and i love it. BUT the killing animations are getting somewhat boring, have killed 3 dragons all with the same killing animation. There should be more killing animations, insane and inovative, im not saying it should be like anime-insane-kungfu stuff where you are jumping around silly. I have played Dragon Aage Origins, and they have the same problem, they have like 2-4 killing animation for normal trash, and one animation for harder trash/bosses, for each weapon. There should be alot more! Some ideas:

Like when killing dragons:
- the dragon blowing all the other guys away so its only you and the dragon (it should be like that most of the time, and when i say blow i mean stomping on the ground with wings so the other guys take a few steps away- almost like when bashing an enemy only longer), dragon grabs your shield, pulls you with it, you let the dragon have the shield and pull your arm to your self, dragon lifts the head and you go for the throat- hack slash blood spills- dragon dead.
- bash the side of the dragons head and go for the nech- hack slash blood spills- dragon dead
- (the normal shield-sword kill modified) throwing away the shield for more mobility, dragon attacks, you dodge and grab the horn, swing up- and you know the rest
- throw away shield pick up a dagger/sword from inventory (only if u have that), dragon attacks, you dodge, stick the dagger/sword in the dragons eye- hack slash blood spills- dragon dead

Like when killing titans/trolls:
- the awsome 300 style killing that big badass, but modified. Turn hack the leg, titan/troll goes on his knees, turn hack the neck- hack slash blood spills- titan/troll dead
- or attack the knee, titan/troll goes on his knees, jump pierce the chest- hack slash blood spills- titan/troll dead

Addition: ranged kills
- like the robin hood deadeye kill, you see your character aiming, like robinhood, shooting follow the arrow BAM! the dragon is dead
- or the legolas style, shooting 3-4 arrows rapidly while aproaching the dragon
- for magic, try play star wars unleashed, not totally overpowered as that, but you get an idea on where im going.

and alot of the animations should only happen when theres 1-2 enemies left, so we dont have animations in big fights.

and so on. Be inventive and brutal. And using random weapons in the inventory for killing scenes. The thing you throw away you have to pick up again, and the things u stick in you enemies, you loot from them.

oh yea, after killing numerous dragons today, i got innoyed over the dragons flying around. it litterally looks like one of those plane-on-a-stick toys kids played with in WWII, or a kid playing with a toyplane today. i mean, seriously... oh and the dragon meelee attack looks terribad, its so preictable (notice how the rear legs and feet move backwards like a yet another lol toy!)

ive killed 6-8 different random dragons today all with same animation, which fails compleatly (my character is flying besides the dragons head hacking and slashing in the air), aaaand its boring.

edit: someone misunderstood, misread
edit: the dragon flight addition, and the 6-8 dragon kills
edit: added ranged ideas

I've literally only had only one killing animation trigger on a dragon, so I'm sure I can still be surprised

I've no idea how moddable this would be, but I imagine someone could work some more in - unless they're hard-coded or something.

heres another idea... have no kill animations, because its obvious beth wasnt up to the task. there are so few, half the time the camera gets in a fight with the scenery and you dont even see them, and half of them have no transition animations making them look really choppy and bad. this isnt the kind of thing you can just tinker with and throw into a AAA game... the scale of content in skyrim makes such flashy additions like kill animations impractical, as has been proven by the shoddy results in skyrim.

the sneak finisher in 1st person NEVER slashes their throat. it slashes the air above their head. im a khajiit attack a nord in a viewpoint that has no legs and is therefore unrestricted by height differences. if this isnt proof of beth's inability to properly implement fatalities, i dont know what is.

I personally think that animations are fine and that there is no need for more of them (not that I would mind them, it's I just don't think that they are priority).
Only thing which really bothers me is forced 3rd person during finishers and all other situations like crafting, horse riding, lycanthropy, etc.

Also, that idea where the dragon kills everyone around you is just silly.
And they should just be some quick finishing animations, not whole [censored] movies. -.-

Oh yea, to add something to the post, fix the existing animations.

I didnt say kill... i said blow. like the dragon stomps the ground with its wings, then the others gets blown away for a sec (like when shield bashing an enemy, just longer for you to finish it of with a scene)

Agree. Its kinda obvious that they're slashing air.

Also, for many finishers where i plunge my sword into the body of someone, its also clearly seen that the enemy's body is "made of air", my sword can drift about when im doing the finisher. Though im not sure if its better than nothing or if it should be removed :spotted owl: sometimes its kinda cool but at other times its just plain

Yes, perhaps there should be more... I'm frequently quite lucky with finishers and positioning though... it often looks pretty cool. I too have bled the air however... Sneak kills are sometimes pretty daft looking.

heres a better idea, if they fixed the actual animations, aand added new ones, this game would give the chill down your neck as they promised, (i must admit i got it at the first dragon kill, but afterwords i saw them as small planes controlled by a 6-year old kid)

A nice one would be bringing dual daggers around the Dragon's throat and slitting it.

Yes i would love to see the current animations fixed/tweaked a little bit and possibly more added as well. But, it's not that big an issue for me.

I'm kind've sad there isn't more gore in the game, but I can understand why.

Oh, thats where you are wrong mate, its just you who are too much of a fan give critics, critics might improve the game alot more. But okay, i get it, The Elder Scrolls playerbase is people who looove taking walks in the nature in an imaginary world. And just stare at the pretty threes.

I like the game storytelling and the whole concept in it self. But the game would be so much more special with some more realistic AND unbugged killingscenes.
