I dont want Skyrim to be like either. Morrowind was separate to itself, as oblivion was separate to itself , so, as it stands, I want Skyrim to be its own. I want skyrim to be like...well skyrim. Not another previous game.

It's obvious that Skyrim will be more like Skyrim. That doesn't exclude however that it may (and probably will) be either more like Morrowind or more like Oblivion. "More like" doesn't equal "like" so I'm not talking about Morrowind 2 or Oblivion 2 and I can bet the OP didn't imply that either. It's unrealistic to say it will be completely different (with zero influences) than both and it's also unrealistic to say it will be equally influenced by both. My wish is "more like Morrowind".

Forget Oblivion and Morrowind. I want Skyrim.

This. I'm a little tired of this "Morrowind was better, I want morrowind 2.0" kind of talk.

More like Morrowind in story, quality of dialogue, leveling system, uniqueness, rewards, feeling of progression, politics and cultural coherency, transport system.
More like Oblivion in stealth and voiced dialogue.
I hope the combat, the economy, the A.I., the graphics, the choice&consequence, the physics and advancement in factions have nothing to do with Morrowind's or Oblivion's.

I disapprove of threads which just encourage community division and flamewars between loyal fans :shakehead:

This just seems too vague and divisive to end well. Hope I'm wrong :whistling:

I would say the OP is a......well thats against the rules.

But you know what I mean.

everyone is, but some things in Morrowind were better than Oblivion and need to be implemented, However this does not need to be a Morrowind 2
The Morrowind being superior might dissipear after Skyrim is released, I heard that is what happened with Daggerfall and Morrowind

In my opinion, Skyrim is going to have elements from both Morrowind and Oblivion. Thats how sequels usually go. They take the bits they like the best, throw some new stuff into it, a heap-full of character building bugs and crashes, and make TES:V :P

Although, to be fair, i hope Skyrim will be a PC game, and not a console game. Sure, Mods will inevitabley arrive to change things, (and that makes me think Bethesda will aim more towards a console audience, because PC mods can change stuff, console users cant) but it would be nice to
feel like im playing a PC RPG. There are so few good ones around these days, it seems. :)

Honestly, good luck with that. Morrowind was the last game made for pc and adapted to work on consoles. I don't see that coming back with today's sales figures.

More like Skyrim.
I've seen Morrowind and Oblivion in both mechanics and storyline. I want a fresh perspective.

If anything, I wish Skyrim would be more like Redguard, in terms of how that world and its story was successfully presented to the player.

A big "YES" from me on the 'more like Redguard' suggestion!

Redguard is THE game that fleshed out the Elder scrolls lore. The character and uniqueness of the TES Tamriel was banged out there and presented in the most detail in all its glory - and successively watered down and used as a crutch in Morrowind and then Oblivion. Morrowind and Oblivion add little if anything to defining a living breathing TES world. Morrowind did a decent job, but couldnt compare to Redguard's guide to the Empire. Oblivion practically just ignored TES lore and went the route of traditional high fantasy.

A lot more of the Redguard style would suit me just fine.

That's more like it. :goodjob:

But I hope "Stealth" is better than both, and more rewarding.

As for voiced dialogs, I hope they have a lot more variety for each race, gender and age.

I just started a discussion like this one and it got locked, I should have known you guys already addressed this :)

Yes, I would love this game to be uniquely Skyrim with almost no Oblivion feel to it and some Morrowind.

If I had to give a Vote to Morrowind and Oblivion I would give :

Morrowind 8.5
Oblivion 6.5
Fallout 7
It was too much simplified , spoiled and the main quest was more boring than the actual main quest of Morrowind , Only the graphics are better the rest Morrowind to me is superior , more imersive , more quests larger settlements and cooler in general...

I am hoping in a 10 for Skyrim....

I hope it's more like Oblivion than Morrowind, with a living world (Morrowind was a dead world populated by information kiosks), visceral action, breathtaking scenery, an engaging storyline (Morrowind's main quest was boring until the end run... and even that was bogged down by the "Prove you're a hero" step), and lots of places to explore and get rich from. I'm saddened by the fewer dungeons offered by Skyrim... Daggerfall had thousands of proceedurally-generated dungeons that were fun to explore despite some of the reused elements. I wish we'd go back to that, in a sense.

Lore is a very small element in any game, considering the other elements.

That entirely depends on your interpretation of what a game should be, and how a game should be.
