Be more Objective challenge

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:57 pm

Lately all ive been doing is Be more Objective 2 stars challenge. The stupud AI and spawning doesnt help at over all unbalanced this mode is. You have about 4 people on your team it seems like vs around 10 enemies. You spawn in the back and the enemy spawns almost directly ontop of the objective. THis isnt really a problem with the first two objectives. Plant a bomb as a soldier and then repair controls as a engi. Actually repairing is hard. only 2 teamates cover you while the enemy of about 8 rushes up the stairs owning your team and thwarting almost any chance of you completing the objective. If you manage to complete that objective as teh engi your done. Theirs two mor objectives but you wont be able to do them. The next objective is to hack a terminal. Let me just say the operative is the worst class. Almost no good abilities and worthless objectives. nevermind it takes forever to hack even if your right next to it. The enemy literally spawns 5 feet away defeating any chances of you completing it. I have tried as a light, meduim, heavy, diffent guns, and strategy and nothing is as stupid as trying to complete an objective IN THE ENEMIES SPAWN. Iam so tired of planting a hack box nd then immediatly dieing or managing to plant it, run away with 1 connection bar and then it get destroyed. Does anyone have an tips or hints ANYTHING? iam so tired of doing this challenge.

I've come to the conclusion that it is pretty much impossible. The friendly AI is too stupid and you simply can't solo an entire enemy AI team whilst also completing objectives.

We have a few of these threads.

1. What level are you? higher level player = smarter enemy bots = harder challenge. Try it with a fresh character, it WILL be easier.

2. Try out different body types and weapon combos. I was level 9 and hadn't heard about point 1 when I first did the challenge you're stuck on. I couldn't even get close to finishing the hacking objective when I was a Light Operative (disagree horribly on your assessment of Ops, by the way - my favourite class to be). Tried Medium, but still no hope. As a Heavy, at level 9, I finally got it.

1 is more likely to help a lot, but keep 2 in mind as well.

When you do the hack, move around to the back of the wall it's on. You don't need to stand right in front of it to do the hack. That's how I did it, you need to work with the bots. They can't kill anything, but they can slow the enemy down by throwing themselves at them. ;)

1) 18. And that also unlocks for my level 18 character if i start a new one right?
2) I tried everything. Trust me when i say EVERYTHING. About my ops opnion- I find the abilties bad compared to the other ones i should say. I only bought the cloptrop grenade and i find it OK. The disguise ability is a little dumb because half the time the guys spot you or you get caught in the cross fire. But the hackign thing i stand by. It takes far to long and its to easy to destroy.
3)Thanx man

I also did this, and when I hid behind that wall, my AI teammates decided to go into rage mode and mow people down for me. haha

I tried that on the 1star level and it worked but do it on teh 2nd star level and they flank around and own. I went back to the spawn but it hacks WAY to slowly and the enemy usually destroys it.

Everyone who is having troubles beating these, make a new character because the bots become incredibly easy if you're a level 1. Once you beat it and unlock the things you need, it will all carry over to your other character! I tried this at least 10 times and kept on failing, but it only took me 1 try once i made a new character and i still had about 5 min left on the clock when i was done. This works for all the challenges just so you know

I agree it can be pretty brutal - especially when you mow through the first 2 objectives in approx 2 minutes and then spend the next 6 on the hacking (I wasn't aware of the "other side" exploit. I'll try that today. I did this 2 star challenge without it with my Operative which was probably about lvl 11 at the time. Doing it with a Soldier in the same lvl area seemed surprisingly harder. For a while. Just detonating the charge was tough. Enemies swarmed, bots ineffective defense, frustrating.

Hehe, I'm going to upload a commentary on this exact issue either tomorrow or monday. Already captured the video for it yesterday.

1. What level are you? higher level player = smarter enemy bots = harder challenge. Try it with a fresh character, it WILL be easier.

The bots aren't actually Smarter, they just use more "hacks" to detect you and your team, while your team doesn't step up their game at all.
(I think the bots work almost identical to the ones from Counter-Strike Source.)

2. Try out different body types and weapon combos. I was level 9 and hadn't heard about point 1 when I first did the challenge you're stuck on. I couldn't even get close to finishing the hacking objective when I was a Light Operative
Tried Medium, but still no hope. As a Heavy, at level 9, I finally got it.

I was between 7 & 8 and tried it with the Heavy, the Light and the Medium. Didn't manage to get anywhere close 75% for hacking...
The bots can tear you apart across half the map, even if you're a Heavy.

The Engineer-Objective isn't so hard to do if you have the turret-ability, btw. I used both a turret and a mine and managed to finish that one quite fast.

Well I was, as I said, level 9.

I had Battle Hardened, and the only Op ability I'd take at that point was Sticky Bomb. Which I didn't use.

Easiest option is to use a level 0 or 1 character.

And yes, that will unlock for EVERY character on your account, not just the one you did the challenge with.

Problem with the "enemies can tear you apart form across the map" bit is that you didn't hide after placing the box - get around the corner and they can't line a shot up on you from hale the map away.

Care to explain which corner you're talking about?

The only option I have in my challenge is to sit in plain sight, otherwise I'm outside the hacking range.

I had trouble with this one too turns out there is a fairly easy solution.
In order to use this tactic you need to finish the engineering objective as a light with at least 4 minutes, my main class is engineer so I usually have eight or so minutes

As soon as you finish the engineering objective head to the left and jump down on top of the hacking terminal plant the hack box and pull out your gun and start firing focusing on enemy engineers which could potentially undo the hack. (If you try to hack on the first plant you will only be dissapointed)
Once youve cleared the area of enemies head to the corner opposite of your spawn with the stairs and continue to gaurd the terminal so the hack box stays intact, eventually your AI will follow you and help you flank. Once the bulk of the enemies are busy spawning head in and start the hack, from there sprint back towards your AI in the corner and take cover from enemy fire behind the boxes.

If you die instantly respawn and sprint back to the box, your real priority is keeping engineers off the box instead of hacking at this point. I usually will cook grenades as I sprint so I can use the knockdown time to get a damage free hack box plant.

Rinse and repeat.

This video shows a pretty good way to beat it, but he doesn't take cover very good

I must say he got really damn lucky there, for his team to actually hold off the enemies.

When I tried almost the exact same tactic, it didn't work at all.

Make a new character. You left the challenges way too late and the enemy have scaled up in difficulty to match you.
Operatives are actually pretty awesome at screwing up an enemy team but against bots they pretty much have a sixth sense if you're disguised. Another benefit is turret hacks and the variety of grenades especially Caltrops which is great for creating a hazardous area for enemies.

Plant the hackbox, facing the box straft right. move forward until theirs a n open space on you left. Their should a type of "box" their that you can hide a little behind. the bars should either be at full or 1 less.

I did the challenge with a fresh character...was pretty straightforward, got it on my 2nd try. Just stay on the move and only bother with stuff that gets in your way.

OK. Here's a (terrible) diagram.

-------__
.........I
.....^^^I

^^^ is where the hack box is

__ is where there's a VERY small corner you can duck into - it gives you JUST enough cover to hide in the corner, while remaining close enough for the hack to continue. There's some crates blocking most of the corner, but not all of it. Crouch while you're at it - helps make you a harder target when they do come around the corner.

At level 9 I still needed a bit of luck on my side with the AI, but I got it.

Maybe just your perspective? The speed of the hack seems fine to me.

The first thing i did when i got the game was the challenges, i managed this one on my second try. The only reason i didnt get it on my first was because i was still getting used to the control scheme and continually trying out new weapons.

I has the first two objectives done before hitting the 8 minute mark, and 8 minutes was easy enough to do the hacking.

This is [censored] pissing me right off. Even tried the trick with creating a new character but I still can not repair that stupid thingy for the two-star challenge; it is right where the enemy spawn and my team mates are [censored] useless, all they do is rush up and die leaving me taking the full brunt of the enemy fire. The objective is right out in the open, so I can't take cover and repair at the same time. Impossible.

[censored] it Brink. I don't want to hate you, but damn you're making it hard.

For the be more objective challenge, sprint and plant the charge right away, defend it, for the engineer challenge, go up top, go around left, kill the 2-3 guys, repair a bit until you get shot and repeat.

Now, for the hack objective, what I do, is disguise yourself as an enemy, and this lets you get the hack box down, run around a corner, and just hack it out, if you get killed, you have enough time usually to shoot two guys sprint in, start the hack process and get around the corner, keep doing this.

Finally, the delivery challenge isn't so hard.

How the hell do you manage to survive even a few seconds to repair? The enemy respawns faster than you can take them out, and the objective is real close to their respawn area.

As a few have said I tried a few times at level 7 or 8 and just gave up, but I did try it today at level 1 and completed it 2nd go, with nearly 6 mins left!

I hardly shot anyone. The hacking was just a case of rushing there and placing and then running to the control just behind it and waited with crossed fingers. I got killed once but I just rushed back waited until everyone was busy and placed the hack and ran away again and that was it.

I then ran to the stairs and picked the intel up and had a bit of trouble getting back up the stairs to deliver, but just waited until the bots were distracted then ran up and delivered it straight away.

There is definitely an element of luck involved but it helped me clearly to try it with a level 1 character. I do like the SMG that is unlocked from doing it also.
