Yeah, but so long as it's not unrealistic.
It's called the wilderness for a reason. ;)

The wilderness i'm not so sure. Foresty folk, such as rangers, hunters, and druids, sure, I can see. But regular common folk? Not so much. Unless they're travelers, traders, and/or merchants going from city to city..much like the mod for Oblivion that added travelers on the main roads.

Wouldn't mind the occasional Prospector or Scavenger (or whatever they are called) from FONV - other adventurers doing their thing. Pluss those mentioned above. But no townspeople going for a strawberry trip in a glacier :P

Yeah, there should be more traders and guards and travellers wandering the paths, but the wilderness shouldn't be too populated. Maybe the occasional hunter or adventurer.

I would love to see some hunters stalking game. If you scare them off they get angry at you.

In the wilderness near towns, sure.
The further you are from towns though, the fewer people you should meet.
Of course, people should be replaced with more and more wild creatures, both hostile and non, as you travel away from civilized areas.

This.

+ In the wilderness there should be more passive animals instead. Not more hostile ones. More passive ones.
Of course there should be hostile ones as well, but not as many as it was in Oblivion. There was a wolf everywhere >.<

I like this idea, Morrowind was great when you would come across random naked people who were tricked by witches. Also people who got lost and need help getting to cities. This allows opportunities for any kind of character who is looking to spread his good deeds or perhaps one just looking for victims to rob.

I would like this as well but the only issue I see is that with the radiant AI, eventually these people will kill all of the surrounding wildlife/enemies (if there are too many of them placed in a given area)....especially if they are hunters.

I agree, to an extent.

I want to see more (pr any for that matter...) people wandering their way through the wilderness from city to city.

On the other hand, I don't want ti to look like an army of hippies escaped from Woodstock and got lost. There has to be limits.

I couldn't agree more. It seems likely that there would be more hunters/trappers wandering. And of course bounty hunters, outlaws, necromancers. Plus, all of these people have to eat so logically they would wander around looking for food or heading into town.

Oblivion had a few people in the wilderness. Thugs at campsites, foresters, outlaws and necromancers in caves and forts. But in the woods, fields and mountains there's virtually no one wandering around. I'd also like to see animals in groups. Oblivion kind of had this, Fallout did better. But I think Skyrim should push the bar MUCH higher.

EDIT:

I left out people traveling from town to town. I'd like to be able to spring an ambush on a traveling merchants and steal all the stuff in their wagons.

On the roads, certainly. Travelling caravans, merchants, travellers etc.

The difficult part with this is that they're trying to take what would be a massive area of land and condense it down to a fraction of its actually physical size. Thus, if you add to many people it starts to seem too bustling. I agree that there should be more variety in the encounters though. More non aggressive NPCs and creatures. Wolves should only be where it makes sense for wolves to be.

i like seeing the very rare scout or ranger once in a while but thats it. one of the reasons i ended up uninstalling FCOM was because it was way to busy. you couldnt take five steps without running into something and it made the game world seem really small. one of the few times i get rid of a mod cause it does to much.

 I guess if it's the wilderness in the game you are speaking of and not the wilderness I live it that would be fine. Too many people make a wilderness more of a settlement and you lose the wilderness.

So if you don't want a realistic wilderness...more folks would make sense.

So, I don't know. I don't want a bunch of folks running around in my forest though.

Totally agree about the wolf thing. It was worse in Morrowind. I remember playing Morrowind and i slept in the wilderness and like 5hrs into my very relaxing nap a frickin thingamajigure attacked me out of nowhere. It was so annoying :banghead:

Would be lovely to see random bandit camps (generated, not fixed), maybe even have around 16 different bandit factions, all enemies of course, but with different equipment and tactics and specializations.
Would increase the danger of exploring the wilderness and could provide for some fun combat when 3 bears attack a bunch of unarmed bandits.

With the random quests, running across someone in the wilderness who needs some sort of help will probably happen from time to time.

You did sometimes see Imperial Legion guys around the wilderness, but I would also like to see different kinds of people. I think Todd mentioned something around the lines of events like a hunting party getting attacked by a dragon and you can help them if you choose, so that implies that we will see things such as groups of hunters.

I really loved that one mod where a load of travellers were added to the roads throughout oblivion, and every once in awhile a goblin would stray from his or her cave and go on a killing streak, only to be put to rest by my arrows. It was so great. I will admit that there were a tad too many people in that mod, but i definately think that travellers on roads should be implemented into skyrim, and not so much random people walking through the middle of the woods.

I liked how obsidian did it, with the herds of big horners grazing. It not only added into the immersion but they also ended up saving my life once. I ran into some mercs at a town and killed most of them but ended up with very little health, broken armor and very little ammo left in my main gun. So I ran away and they followed me. I eventually ran through a herd of big horners and managed to not agrevate them, but the 2 mercs following me were slower and the big horners attacked and killed them. I want to see more dynamic moments like that in these games.

Coming across a cannibalistic Bosmer that wants to eat you!!

By Azura, by Azura, by Azura! IT′S LUNCH!

Enter the Devouring Fan ;)

I'm all for having more people out in the wilderness, as long as it will be minimal.
