No more power ranger armour? = WIN.

Im very releived that none of the armour will be as stupid looking as the stuff im seeing in other fantasy games atm.. ie big spiky shoulder pads and whatnot... im playing two worlds and 90% of the armours just look stupid. Im forced to use a weak armour I found early on to save from looking like a pro-footballer.

though this goes for some of the oblivion armour glass for example... I always use leather because the others are too comic book like for my tastes.

it seems skyrim is focusing on a real world, gritty feeling for the look of the armour so no yaya for no more impractical multicoloured power ranger hauberks!

I still think we will see elaborate armours, it′s a fantasy world after all, and TES have it′s share of fancy armours threwout the series.

I think there needs to be at least some outrageous showy options. Some times you need to pimp your avatar :)

P.S if you haven't already, hit up dragon age for gritty realistic looking armour. Always found the styling striking personaly.

I love the low fantasy vibe their going for.
Totally agree.

But some people actually like those styles so maybe have a few sets for them. (A FEW)
I hope for many different types of fur and leather variants.

I think most armour looks ugly, but if I were going to choose to wear some higher than leather level armour, I'd want some Samurai style armour, so I hope something similar to that will get in the game (and not the orc armour, which while very cool is not really the same as Samurai armour style).

Hm, that didn't have much to do with the OP... anyway, I don't like too silly armours, but alittle decoration is okay.

The Oblivion orc armor had a Mongol like theme with it when you think about the tile plates they weave into their leather.
Morrowing Orc armor was very samurai-ish.

I enjoy the armor designs of BGS very much. I don't like the over-the-top bulky WoW designs. TES seems like the best game to go to if you want the most realism that a fantasy game could give you. Not realism in the historical sense, but in the sense that every feels like a living breathing world that could actually have happened. And that's one of the things that draws me to Elder Scrolls. So style of armor(as well as other things within the game) mean a big deal to me. I like the most of the armor designs in the games so far(some of Morrowind's was stretching my imagination a bit though) But Oblivion's I thought were great. I loved the Dwarven armor the best. And from what I'm seeing so far out of Skyrim, me likey.

as long as they go easy on the colors armors can look very good.

see wow armors?? some of them are LAME too many colors and neon lights

see gothic for example good armor designs (they could use some modeling tweaks though)

they can go a little crazy on the robes though but not the metalic stuff

The Elven armor in the concept art did look at bit Power Rangers.
The Orcish armor looked great though, sort of Ghengis Khan.
The Nordic cover guy looks cool, probably a bit too cool for such cold weather...he should wear more fur on his arms.

The mithril armour was my favourite suit of armour in Oblivion, didn't look too Japanese at all :P.

Honestly, Oblivion didn't really have those ridiculously huge suits of armour that you have in final fantasy or other crap games like that (sorry, just can't stand those games lol). Although i must admit that some of the armour suits annoyed me aswel because they looked ridiculous or... too daedric (not sure what i don't like about daedric, but i just don't like it :P).

Anyway, from the pictures they've released of Skyrim i know that there's one suit of armour that i'll love nomatter what. It just looked so barbaric :).

Actually... thats exactly what im talking about... too big and cumbersome. I mean look at the size of those cufflets... is their size really so functional in the heat of battle?

when I armour myself in RPG... I go for how Aragorn looked in the battle of helms deep...

I share the same sentiment. More is less with armor if you ask me. Id rather wear armor that looks plausible, than something that looks like it weighs 300 lbs and was crafted from moon rocks

The only armor I wore in Oblivion was boots and gauntlents, completed with enchanted clothing such as a hood etc, I especially dislike the helmets. Looks awful.

Robes over armor. I want glass armor hidden underneath a black robe. That way I would wear some really protecting armor, but not look like a clown.

The only things bright and colourful in TES games have been made of glass or cloth. So this isn't a surprise, really.

Yes to low fantasy, something that looks feasible.
No to overly stylized often just looking impractical.
Light armor variations such as Great Khans.
Heavy armor variations that looks like it can be moved in.
And I don't want to look like a hedgehog when dressed to fight.

I loved Morrowind armor, but I also like the direction Skyrim is going for, since it fits the time and place.

Tis true you know. Dragon age has some fine realistic armer. Quite badass too :P

I hope for a mix of armer in Skyrim to suite all my roleplaying tastes. I think there has been a lack of true evil looking armer in past scroll games so hopefully that. :)

Skyrah, are you saying Daedric doesn't look evil? Man, you really have high standards for evil looking armor. ;)

i think many of the armours in DA:O had a pretty realistic look although the knight armours was FAR to massive.
