More Shotguns?

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 6:22 pm

Hello people. I've been playing Brink for a bit now and i like the Mossington Shotgun, It's good and its also good for defending. But i've noticed that the mossington is the only shotgun besides the shotgun for "heavy body type" only :( I would like to see more shotguns, What about you? :D For medium and for Light!

I love shotguns in games.

I am a little disappointed the Mossington isnt available for the light character, as although it's a decent weapon it is somewhat weak 50% of the time (I understand this is how it's supposed to work) so allowing the lights to have the Mossy and adding in something for Mediums wouldnt be bad idea.

If you compare the ARs and the SMGs, SMGs have higher RoF and ammo reserves. It should be the same for a light shotgun. It could be either a over-under double-barrel shotgun (similar to the Olympia from CoD Ops) or a clip-fed shotgun that has ~4 shots in a mag and fires semi-auto.

This is what I said on a similar thread.

I think Lights need a single shot breach-fed (like double-barrels but with one barrel) with only about 16 shots and half the range of the mossington. I would also like to see a better Heavy shotgun and another semi-auto non pump action for mediums.

If Brink would get more shotguns, they would need some more love overall. I find them to be quite weak, really. Especially the Heavy's should get at least the same damage like the Mossington.

i reckon a saw off double barrel would be good for lights only 2 shots before reload and give it not as much distance which would help balance it against the mossington

I'm fine with having two shotguns, but I would like them to act like shotguns. At present they spread too much, and anyone that has fired a real shotgun will tell you that unless it is a sawn-off, there is nowhere NEAR as much spread as featured in the game. I know it is a game, therefore not real, but for pity's sake...

The Hjammerdeim is woeful, also. One-hit kills vs Lights at close range would be suitable, at present it can take 3, 4, 5+ to kill an enemy (if they are buffed) even if they're standing still at close range and you are sighting at them. Shotguns should NOT need to be point-blank (your gun muzzle against their chest) to be effective.

Also, I would like magazine attachments to configure different rounds. Scatter (as is now), Manstopper (solid slugs, like a VERY heavy bullet), Incendiary, that sort of thing.

There's my two cents.

I think the heavy shotgun needs to be made more viable, I think the mediums need a second shotgun and I think the lights need one too. At the moment, they all have less range than a SMG but are still worse at extreme close range. Maybe a damage buff but making them a little less effective against kevlar would give them more of their own niche.

I'd quite like the mossington to be the number one weapon to take down a light sprinting past about 15 metres away. Seems like it should be its thing. This would involve decreasing the spread to something much more realistic.

Oh, and I *really* hope that bayonets and shields are options on the mossington/other shotguns. Seems like it's make it much more worthwhile close up, particularly if the SMGs didn't have access to these (Hence a reason to give a shotgun to lights, so they also get access to bayonets/shields). This could also give it a niche, which seems the best way of making it useful but keeping it balanced.
