You see a blue box over the horizon in the desert, as you approach it you see that it is a English police box. But when you get to close to it makes a strange noise and disappears leaving a motion sensor in its place

You find a group of tents in the desert, some are broken and look old. You find 3 skeletons each wearing a Vault 13 Jumpsuit and one of the skeletons is holding a 10mm pistol

"The Birds" You are walking a stretch of road, up ahead is an old phone booth. You start to hear crows cawing, you notice alot of crows on old power lines and cars. They start to fly at you and attack you. One or two at first then dozens. Only safety is the booth. Run to the booth an close the door. The crows attack the booth. After about a minute they stop. When you go outside there are no crows no bodies. You look back in the booth you see a skeleton of a women. (any health lost during the attack is restored)
Idea: Lost count

Past threads http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1079693-special-random-encounters/ will link you to thread #3 were you can find links to #2 and #1.

I'd like to see a group of Enclave soldiers wandering around the wasteland asking where everybody went. That would be pretty good.

i want to see the puppet man...

have him show up riding his ant. start him out as non aggressive, and give him some dialogue options that ultimately lead to him attacking. make him insanely strong, and have roughly 3x the health of Fawkes at lvl 30.

as far as loot. random junk, a vault 77 jumpsuit, and a vault boy sock puppet which can be used as an unarmed weapon

actualy, how could the vault 77 guy even be around in fallout3, he went into the vault 200 years ago yet the the raiders in fallout3 act like he came out of the vault 5 years before you visited paradisefalls. unless that holotape and jump suit are like 200 years old.

now i could see you meeting his desendants who ride ontop of ants and wield vault boy puppets.

yea, while i dont want the enclave as an actual faction, i don hope theat they mak minor appearances like a bunch of enclave reffugees, an ex enclave companion, stuff like that. the crashed vertibird id a really cool idea tho.

To expand on this one, what I think should happen is off in the distance you see 5 or 6 vertibirds flying at medium speed. A missle from a generic missle launcher pops up and hits one in the tail. It spins uncontrollably to the ground and crashes, with no fireball. The others fly off at maximum speed and are out of sight in a couple seconds. If you walk over you will find it mangled and destroyed. One Enclave pilot would be a couple yards in front of the nose, catapulted from the windshield. He could have some kind of rare enclave power armor. In addition there is an Enclave officer alive in the wreckage. If you have a high enough strength you can lift the scrap off of him/her and escort them to a nearby doctor friend.

Perhaps one month later he/she will approach you and ask to be a follower as well as explain that they were shot down by loyal enclave and that they were deserters. Maybe they could explain some stuff about the origin of the enclave and so on. What do you think?

Id like to see some community references

A girl running around in Pink PA (implement what beth started :D )

The Fallout General: A man marching around in a military uniform, shouting contradictory opinions at himself. Repeatedly calling himself a naysayer, a massive fan and various other forum related insults :P

A group of people, sat in the middle of a battlefield discussing cookies.

sounds cool. i was pesronally looking more for like a bunch of refugees running from the capital wasteland. i envisioned a convoy of them slowly trudging along the desert, not knowing what to do or where to go.

but your idea is cool too :goodjob:

Oh btw this was very similar to a random encounter I came upon recently in FO3 for PS3 (game of the year addition), where a poor guy named Max (I think) tries to rob you with an empty sawn-off. You can either threaten him to backoff using a speech check, give him a few caps to increase probability of speech check succeeding (but not all of your caps), or shoot him.. I chose a more inventive approach. I simply told him to run away cuz I'm a badass MOFO, then when he turned his back to me i zapped him with the mesmetron and sold him to the kind people at paradise falls, who would ensure that he was given a "home".

The difference being that Mel is perfectly healthy and capable where as a one armed man has almost no chance in such an environment. Mel is just an inept bandit and the one armed man is... well, a one armed man.

Scenario:

A ghoul, Larry, spots you. Delusional, wearing a party hat and novelty glasses with a large plastic nose and moustache, runs over and tries to convince you that his Pet cat, was still alive and lost. You tell him cats have long since gone extinct and he refuses to accept it. You have the option to kill him any time, for +Neg Karma. If you follow his directions, he will lead you to a small cactus in the shape of a Cat. He tells a story of how the mutations turned his cat, Grumpy, into a Cattus (instead of a cactus O.o). Larry refuses the idea of this just being a cactus and later says "you are of no use to him, and you dont understand" and attempts to kill you if you unsuccessfully calm him. If you manage to calm Larry (with speech), he will give you "Larry's Party glasses", and "Larry's knife", then walk off. He may be found dead next to any random Cactus in the Mojave afterwards. With Larry's knife, you may cut open the Cattus and find valuable cat- meat, as well as Cat Pelt. Which may be sold for 100 Caps together. If he is killed, then you get 20 caps, and "Larry's Party glasses" (No clothes.. since hes In Underwear).

I always loved the homage to sci-fi, novels, movies, and memes in the old fallout games. There are lots of stuff i would like to see for a good laugh, at the same time i want as much of it as possible to be kept secret from me until it happens. Anyways i got a few ideas of my own. :D Both random encounters, and unmarked or marked smaller locations like the café of broken dreams etc.

For example(s):

Suggestion 1:
Did you know Bethesda made terminator games back in the 90's.....? This could be fun to exploit :D How bout a li'l homage here? Let's say you could stumble across a "dead" terminator-like robot in the wastes (named R-null)..... and with it lies a unique weapon... Like.. a lever action shotgun, or a minigun... ;D OOOOOOOOOOR........... one "warps" in right in front of your eyes... and requests your "Clothes, your boots, and your hunting rifle, and asks about someone named "Connor" (and if you have dogmeat, it might ask you "What's your dog's name?) Where you have get the dialogue option to say it's named "Wolfie"! Upset him and you'd have to fight him. Loot him and get energy cells, and scrap metal. (since they warp in with nothing).

Suggestion 2:
(more of a quest actually. Since Vegas was a melting pot for showmanship i would hope some of it lived on after the bombs... even if it is the least appriciated type....you guessed it... Ventriloquism! I give you: The Ventriloquest!)
The quest involves an NPC with split personallity disorder, who kept his sickness at bay by channeling his "evil" peronality through a ventriloquist doll. BUT: the doll has now gone missing, and his "evil side" has taken over his contious mind. However, his sub contious mind is desperately calling for help to free him. Trying to find someone to help him find his doll. This manifests itself through him talking and crying for help in his sleep. (nighttime) and also by ghost writing in note form, and holotapes in his house (from when he has been sleepwalking). Also other NPC's can hint on this by mentioning that he suddenly went mean and cold hearted and such. The split personality NPC will be very mean and hostile in his dialogue when talking to him during the day, so the playwer will kinda have to figure things out by visiting at night and looking through his house. (the "mean side" could hint that he used to be a doll by some funny and grim dialogue though)

Upon finding the doll, the NPC will regain "sanity" and present some kind of appropriate reward for the players trouble. There is alot of options for hillarious dialogue and ventriloquist jokes in this quest, and personally i'd find it very entertaining. :)

Cheerio.

Gobbue I like your ideas. Suggestion 2 is great. I like that you can see his good side at night. Something that we might miss if we don't do anything at night.

Edit: could keep the puppet and get a speech option from it "Talk to the Puppet." Could get a trait where people think you are crazy. Puppet master or something.

I would like to see us running around with that dummy on are hand.

Guy from the quest goes on a killing spree if we don't give it back :D.

Maybe it could have a vault 77 suit on.

Or by all means "Puppet Master" Achievement for completing the quest ;D Which would make the quest a larger one... and making me very VERY happy! :D (Oh allmighty devs... where arth thou?) ;D

Vault 77 suit is awesome XD Didn't even think of that. Maybe you could find one in his wardrobe, or get one as quest reward if he's not wearing it!

Regarding killing spree. Sure why not :D Or a fight club like situation where he shoots himself in the head.
