More uses for junk loot.

It always bothered me whilst hunting in Oblivion you could slay a giant bear from 300 yards with a perfectly placed shot to the face and skin it, only to sell it for a measly 10 gold.

I want to see a system that lets you hunt game, and use either their skulls, horns, pelts and or other (spider fangs?) and work them into a trophy or wearable piece of equipment.

As we are wandering into the land of the Nord, I find it quite obvious that allowing characters to wear a Pelt as a cape etc fitting.

thoughts :D?

We can only hope the economy in Skyrim has been greatly improved.
No more beggars that are able to buy clothes fit for a king after one day of begging please.

I love the idea of being able to use resources for animals in crafting clothing and accesories. I remember when Fable was in alpha, it was called Project Ego, and they said you could hunt animals and adorn your weapons with their pelts. I fell in love with that idea, but sadly...we all know how that went.

I wholeheartedly agree with the OP. The difficulty in hunting should be difficult, especially for things that provide expensive trophies - but all hunting should be rewarding.

OP, take heart, I recall Todd being asked a question about hunting and saying something along the lines of "we didn't know so many people wanted that..." e.t.c so they're aware.

OP, I agree with you, and Helloween, that would be awesome. How cool would it be to kill a bear and then wear its pelt as a cape, with its head as a makeshift helmet? And you could have the paws with those long claws act as pauldrons.

And while on the topic of junk loot: what was with all the useless rolls of cloth and silver vases and goblets, not to mention crystal balls and hourglasses. One would think that they would be more valuable and less common, especially the silverware. . .

eh, it's called junk loot for a reason. But still, sounds like a good idea. Turn in pelts to leather worker, he makes you a sicknasty cape.

The thing with actual junk loot is that it should actually be junk.... as in broken, has holes in it or is rotten or rusty and useless.

As for things like pelts... maybe they could be of different quality.

I agree that hunting should be difficult, but the memory of being chased by three brown bears in Oblivion comes to mind. I think that big game should be less numerous if the pay off is going to be larger. It also became ridiculous in Red Dead Redemption, when you could have up to twelve bears chasing you. Lets Hope Bethesda get the balance right.

OP here....

IMO there also needs to be a clear divide in skills.

Weapon Masteries and Magic fall under Primary Combat

Block, Hand to Hand and Armour fall under Secondary Combat

Crafting skills such as Smithing and perhaps even leatherworking/tailoring should make an appearance, even if not skills the ability to use stuff you have collected would be a great asset to this game and add many, many more enjoyable hours of game play :D!

*picks up spoon and enchants it with drain health 100* Hooray, very good extra use!

I'm not trolling either, I think this would be really fun.

Imo, all loot should have purpose.

considering we can do anything the NPCs can... and we have a skill called "smithing" now... why dont we make our OWN clothes/armor?

i think bethesda would be surprised how many people would like the chance to do these things in a game... afterall, not every character has to be a hero, or be a hero unable to do simple things such as chop wood, etc.

that would be a fun character... a warrior living a fair distance from town, chopping wood for fire, using that fire to cook fish and other meats he gets from hunting,, making his own clothes/armor, go mining for ore to make a weapon, etc...

imagine that... owning a cabin near the woods, you go to a nearby cave to find some ore and bring it home to forge a nice new sword or whatever you prefer... then you head out to get some dinner and new armor... finding a bear and a few deer on your trip, you collect the pelts for the clothes/armor, and meat for dinner, as you're heading home, a dragon roars in the distance and you're about 30 feet from your house...

you sprint towards your place, hoping to get inside before the dragon roasts your beef... just as the dragon swoops, you practically knock your door down, pressing up against your wall and praying to kyne that the dragon doesnt torch his house and devour him.

as the dragon decides to chase after some nearby deer instead, the warrior breathes a sigh of relief, looks at his pelts and meat, says "screw it, i'll do it later" and collapses on his bed.

or, something like that.
point is, it'd be cool to make our own stuff. it could just be a bit more troublesome than going to a professional worker, and require some real roleplaying interest to do.

This type of crafting would create a whole new game. I'm not sure I'd really want it mixed in with ES-V, as I'm sure there will be other things to do.
