MORIARTY'S SALOON

Post » Mon Oct 05, 2009 12:29 am

In another forum I visit we have a thread dedicated to completely random posts that dont deserve their own individual threads, I thought this place could use the same considering a lot of interesting stuff happens in the Wasteland. So, unless theres already another thread of this type, lets hear some random Fallout talk!

I just finished transporting all my guns and some power armor to my new base of operations, the Outcast Outpost. It's great! I moved all the dead bodies into the surgery room and I go in there with my wasteland surgeon outfit and perform autopsys, mwahaa. It's got a room with a bed, a study room, a bunker where I can display weapons and friendly turrets

I still keep my house in Megaton though and will visit there often, considering I keep all my misc stuff and food there, as well as most of my clothing. Plus Megaton still feels like "home", while the Outpost is more like a secret hideaway bunker for me

I recently, obtained the fabled "Firelance". Here's the story.... I was walking through the wastes one night when all of a sudden I heard this bang, ya know? I see a green explosion, like a giant plasma grenade overhead. I'd heard rumors about aliens and their tech and I figured that's what it could be. I run all around frantically and all I can find is ammo, alien cells. I search and search, on my hands and knees. I look under every bush and ever rock. I finally decode to take the chance of the item "being taken" while I run home to fetch good ol' Dogmeat. I bring him back and send him on a weapon hunt. After a few good sniffs he finds the gun. More wondrous than I could have imagined....

The Outcast HQ sounds like a cool mansion type secret base. I'm just not too eager to have the Outcast patrols shooting at me all the time, on top of the Enclave and Talon Company Mercs. They keep ruining my pretty Merc Outfits.

I've taken up wearing the Winterized T-51b Power Armor set recently. I hear it's got a ton of durability hit points, so I'm going to see if I can wear it until it finally degrades. If not, I'll probably be happy because I'm 85% Dmg. Resistant while standing still wearing it. On another random note, I have 400+ pieces of Scrap Metal, and a similar amount of Sensor Modules that I need to turn in to get 5.56 ammo from Casdin. Gonna take it all up to the Ammo Press in several trips, but haven't decided what kind of ammunition I want to make with it. Was going to make it Magnum rounds for Lincoln's Repeater until I found the Backwater Rifle, so maybe I'll see if I can turn it into Shotgun Shells. I'm having fun with my new toy the Double Barreled Shotgun, and that thing eats up ammo fast.

You probably already know this but you can also trade scrap metal in the Underworld for stimpaks, rad-away or rad-x, or sell it to Walter in Megaton for caps and XP

Also to SurfinBird, I still have not come across the Firelance in multiple playthroughs except for my first one, but I didnt know that only the weapon fell out of the sky, I thought I was looking for a downed alien spacecraft lol, I searched everywhere only to come up with a few power cells :shakehead:

Please Fallout Gods!! I need this weapon for my collection :flamethrower:

Oh yeah thanks for the heads up. I always have 200 more stimpacks and RadAway's then I need on myself at all times for some reason, so I never bother with trading them at Underworld. I'm lvl 30 now and have plenty of caps so I'm thinking I'll just use the scrap for ammo, since I don't fast travel EVER, and admittedly walking to Rivet City/Tenpenny Tower/finding Lucky Harith is a hassle, it'll probably be the most worth my while.

Btw I'm trying to come up with a new build for my next character. My current one is 10 in every SPECIAL stat except strength (which is 9), and has 100 in all skills. But he doesn't really use unarmed or melee, and never uses Energy Weapons. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions? Even character builds (Like Chuck Norris, Billy Mays, etc.) are welcome. All I have so far is an all melee character, just to get that feeling of scavenging for weapons and having to run from tough enemies back like the good ol' days. Haven't decided on anything though.

since I don't fast travel EVER

:bolt:

I couldn't imagine not fast travelling... sometimes I even fast travel to locations Im already at on the map if I know the spawn point is closer to where I need to be

Everytime I fast travel it always reminds me of Star Trek... I sometimes even catch my self saying "energize" in my head

For some reason, I read this as: I've woken up wearing the Winterized T-51b Power Armor set recently

All I could think of was a mental image in my head of someone climbing out of their bed in Megaton wearing that thing with a hand to their (helmeted) head, saying, "Man.. what did I do last night?"

I decided to see how many mini nukes Dogmeat could withstand before he died...

9!

9 direct hits before he finally perished. What a beast

Haha I just decided to give it a shot since my first 3-4 characters I had before I sold the game six months ago always fast traveled. At first, it was rough. Some parts were cool because of the random encounters and running for my life and jumping over rocks to get away from enemies when my gun breaks or low on Stimpacks. Then running back and forth to locations I visited frequently got boring. But I couldn't bring myself to stop because there's a strange feeling of satisfaction in knowing every location you're at you worked and fought to get to, and took no shortcuts. Now I can't really imagine making a character that fast travels ever again. I almost want to give Oblivion a second chance without using Fast Travel just to see if it makes that game any better (it kind of bores me).

Isn't Star Trek where the "Beam me up, Scotty" saying comes from. If so, I know you aren't alone in thinking about it every time you FT lol.

Ohhh nice. Fully repaired Fat Man? I almost gave Dogmeat the boot when he let the Behemoth out from the

pen, but the battle with it proved so fun I had to keep him. I know the Behemoth was unarmed, but I swear if I would have just sat there and watched the two of them fight, Dogmeat would have won. Almost makes me regret getting the "Puppies!" perk, seems like I'll never need it.

My Fat Man is one of my few weapons in poor condition, about 50-60% Id say. Tomorrow Im going to hunt the experimental MIRV, use some epoxy to get it close to 100% and then Im going to let Dogmeat have it :mohawk:

(on a seperate save file of course)

Good luck. At level 15, it took me, Charon, RL-3, four other followers and Wadsworth's flamethrower to put that dog down. He can survive almost anything. :ahhh:

I've killed Dogmeat with three shots from a combat shotgun, he also took hits from my Raider slave equipped with Sydney's SMG, and Jericho with his regular Chinese Assault Rifle. It took less than a few seconds. The Raider said, "Dibs on the LOOT!" So I was like, what, the dog meat? S'all yours. I put Dogmeat's head on a crate nearby, open maw and all. If he was a unqiue dog I wouldn't kill him, but whether it's Four Score, or some Scavanger's dog... they all look the same. Not sure why he's such a powerhouse for everybody else. He heal's quickly, but meh...

I recently marvelled at a combat shotgun floating miles up in the air. I had to scope in to see what it was. I shot it a few times but it didn't move. Also noticed yestderday that I have 436 Ice-Cold Nuka's in my dispenser, me thinks I can stop picking up and buying Nukas now.

We're trying to kill him after recruiting him for the first time with Broken Steel installed. He has 15,000 hp at Level 30. He's a lean mean Albino fighting machine.

If you have the Broken Steel DLC, then his health scales with the players and he becomes a god-dog.

I like D'meat in his original form - he's so much more balanced and it makes you actually want to care for him.

lol, never done that. Killing Dogmeat is something you get outta the way. Makes me wonderage why folks' leave it so late. Even with crashes and stuff, I think every one of my saves has a dead Dogmeat on it. Except those that start at the Vault.

I like D'meat in his original form - he's so much more balanced and it makes you actually want to care for him.

Balanced for vanilla, though, right? If he didn't get a boost he'd get owned in the DLC. That Raider slave I mentioned has only 85/85 health. I've managed to keep her alive for well over twenty-five hours, and she's only wearing Raider Badland's armour. I installed the DoctorOfTheWastes mod so that I could heal her limbs, if she takes too much of a beating I leave her in one place and then when I head home I'll pick her up and take her there. Run with Jericho for a bit and return to keep healing her up. One mine and she could be killed so I gotta be careful. Also blowing the missile launchers and miniguns outta Mutant hands just to increase her chances of surviving the encounter. She's my Dogmeat. Is better company, and has some hilarious sayings.

If you get two Raider slaves and let 'em wander around your house, they exchange some hilarious dialogue. Mostly threats... it keeps me smiling. I'm gonna make a Raider follower with the GECK I like her so much.

Well, they had elections back in California but due to... Unforseen events.. New elections had to be delayed over and over again. But they will be held again soon  I'm counting on it.
