What level are you? He might be of a higher level; or maybe you need some magic resist. I didn't really know how powerful he is cause i kept staggering him with the impact perk.

Lightning spells worked a treat for me, once his mana was gone he was pretty easy to kill. I also had a Frost atronach to keep his attention for the start of the fight.

Picked up a Summon Storm Atronach scroll from some loot in an earlier mages guild quest. Came in very handy. Let them duke it out for a bit, then rushed in with my sword and shield, slowed time and slashed away. Poor guy didn't stand a chance.

Of course, he slaughtered ne the 4 previous times I'd tried to best him. He is bloody tough!

I used a combo of storm atronarch scroll and letting him waste all his powers until he had nothing left to fire at me. Then he just stood there and let me perform a coup de gras.

Sent my companion in and flanked him. Elemental fury+Berserker rage with 2h hammer. He died in a few seconds.

Thanks for all the replies, I did mean to put it in the help and spoilers section, but anyway, I'm level 18 and he kills me with like two blasts. What type of weapon does he use, is it electric? I'm a one handed fighter in heavy armour primary, but I do focus on destruction spells as well.

Ah, so he eventually stops casting those nasty purple bolts, that's good to know. He's one hard dude though, easily the toughest opponent I've come across yet.

Hide among the fortifications ontop of the large ruin and whittle him down with arrows while using the blocks to evade his lightning attacks.

It takes about 70-120 direct hits, but he goes down eventually.

Just bring enough arrows.

A follower to distract him is good too, even if it doesn't last more than 2 seconds before entering the recuperation stage. It will give you time to aim right.

Install patch 1.2, and blast him with magic! Blast EVERYTHING with magic - and avoid being blasted by magic yourself!
